Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared
Chapter 456: Harmonious Family

Chapter 456: Chapter 456: Harmonious Family

In a high-rise residential building, Gu Fan’s father and his parents are cleaning their room while Gu Ling is helping out. They are working and laughing together, completely forgetting the trouble they caused Gu Fan earlier. They did not care about how Gu Fan was handling things now. It seemed like they had already forgotten about the matter.

Gu Fan too had arrived, and upon seeing his parents and sister happily cleaning, he couldn’t help but feel irritated: "You all seem to be having a lot of fun, do you know how much effort it took me to coax Lin Xi back? You almost killed me with your antics."

Gu Fan’s mother turned up her nose at him: "Girls are supposed to be loved and coaxed. If you find all this tiring are you even a man?"

"Come off it, Mom. Not only did you mistake a future daughter-in-law, but you also tried to put the family bracelet on Sister Su, and let your real future daughter-in-law see the whole thing causing a huge misunderstanding. Then you just run off. Talk about setting a trap." Gu Fan complained incessantly while his parents, obviously at fault, just awkwardly laughed.

Gu Fan’s father added another sentence: "Well, the misunderstanding happened. Now it’s your responsibility to solve it."

"You guys make it sound so easy." Gu Fan was quite helpless with such conniving parents and could only sigh, looking resigned.

Gu Fan’s father was serious: "OK, now it’s my turn to ask you. Why didn’t you inform us before you decided to invite a roommate to live in the old house? If you had mentioned this to us earlier, we would’ve known the situation and this misunderstanding wouldn’t have occurred today. Eventually, it’s all your fault."

"So it’s my fault?" Gu Fan was stunned, but then he caught his family’s stern eyes, realizing that he indeed was wrong, he quickly lowered his head: "I’m sorry, Mom and Dad, I was wrong. I should’ve asked for your approval before inviting a roommate. But I had my reasons."

Upon hearing this, Gu Fan’s father snorted, "Even if you had your reasons, why didn’t you discuss your plans with us? We, as your parents, are reasonable people."

Gu Fan looked doubtful: "Really? If I told you about my plan to get a female roommate, would you have agreed?"

After hearing this, Gu Fan’s parents immediately opposed, "Of course not, what do you need a female roommate for? Are you trying to keep a clandestine lover?"

"I knew it, whether I speak or not, it winds up being my fault." Gu Fan rubbed his head, feeling totally helpless. He gave up and decided to go back to the old house.

His mother was not pleased: "What are you going back to do? This is also our home. Are you so anxious to be alone with your female roommate?! Don’t forget that you have a girlfriend."

"What are you even talking about?" Gu Fan was almost choked with indignation.

Then his mother added another sentence: "Although we let you live in the old house and become independent, during our time abroad, we told you to come home and clean the house. Look at the mess, when was the last time you cleaned the house?"

Gu Fan felt a little embarrassed when he heard this. He couldn’t remember when was the last time he came to this house. Now looking back, living in the old house felt quite comfortable, he almost completely forgot about his original place.

Gu Fan’s father also chimed in: "You were supposed to help us with this and you didn’t. We worked so hard to raise you, can’t you just make things a bit easier for us?"

Hearing all of this, Gu Fan quickly surrendered: "OK, OK. I got it. I don’t blame you for stirring up trouble the moment you came back, but could you please stop finding reasons to rebuke me? Can we stop this, please?"

Gu Fan’s parents nodded in satisfaction: "That’s better. It’s normal for family members to cause each other some trouble. The most important thing is to maintain harmony, right? With a harmonious family, all will be well."

"How can we have harmony when you’ve upset your future daughter-in-law so much?" Gu Fan sighed, but his mother started again: "It’s all your fault, if you had informed us earlier about the female roommate, we wouldn’t mistakenly think she was your girlfriend. After all, it’s your fault."

"Alright, alright. It’s all my fault, I was wrong. Let’s not talk about this anymore, let’s just clean up." Gu Fan begged for mercy. Meeting such cunning parents, he really felt helpless.

So the family of four began to clean up. Gu Fan hoped that the matter would just pass by. If he had to take the blame, then so be it.

Gu Fan was actually always worried that after knowing Su Hui was living in the old house, his parents would strongly oppose and insist Su Hui move out. However, looking at the situation now, it seemed like his parents didn’t have this intention.

Gu Fan thought perhaps this misunderstanding was so embarrassing for his parents that they didn’t feel like asking Su Hui to move out. Maybe, this misunderstanding actually did him a favor.

After cleaning for a while, Gu Fan’s father took a look to see if anyone was around, then nudged Gu Fan’s arm, laughing very happily, "You are quite something, boy. You’ve got such a beautiful girlfriend and you’ve brought such a beautiful roommate to the old house."

"Dad, don’t misunderstand. Su Hui and I are just friends." Gu Fan insisted, but his father’s doubtful face made Gu Fan realize, whatever he says probably won’t matter.

Suddenly, Gu Fan remembered something and asked: "Dad, do you know Luo Jingrong? Uncle Zhang mentioned that the Du family used to live in the old house."

"Luo Jingrong?" Gu Fan’s father furrowed his eyebrows, then said, "I seem to have met him when I was little, but I can’t remember clearly now. How, have you met him?"

Gu Fan nodded repeatedly: "More than just met, I even helped Luo Jingrong once. Talk about a coincidence!"

"Oh, is that so?" Gu Fan’s father got interested, curious about how Gu Fan and Luo Jingrong met.

But Gu Fan didn’t say, he changed the topic: "Dad, do you know Liu Zhendong? He also visited the old house."

"Liu Zhendong? I haven’t been in touch with him for many years. Can’t believe he still remembers to visit." Gu Fan’s father was very surprised, almost disbelief. Then, considering that four of the six families who used to live in the old house had already turned up.

"They’re old friends, they should get together when they have time." Gu Fan’s father frowned, seemingly lost in thought. However, in Gu Fan’s eyes, it appeared as if his father was worrying about something.

Suddenly, Gu Fan remembered something else: "Dad, have you ever agreed with Uncle Liu to arrange a childhood engagement between Liu Yao and me?"

Gu Fan’s father nodded immediately: "Indeed, I did. If you break up with your current girlfriend, I would go find Liu Zhendong to fulfill the childhood engagement."

"No, no. Liu Yao is already married, and Lin Xi and I are stable. I’m committed to Lin Xi, I have no intention of changing." Gu Fan was asking casually; he didn’t expect his father to respond like this. If Lin Xi knew about it, there would be hell to pay.
