"You don’t say, could she sense that I’m not simple." Lin Xi was startled, immediately followed by a wide grin, "Gu Fan, your sister sure is talented. She’s extraordinary. Why don’t I mentor her and make her as powerful as me?"

"Well..." Gu Fan felt it would be good for Gu Ling to learn a few things. However, he had a sudden worry, if his girlfriend was this powerful and his sister too, how was he going to get through the days ahead?

The three of them arrived at the theater. While Gu Fan went to buy tickets, Lin Xi took the opportunity to cozy up to Gu Ling, amiably offering her a drink.

"Thanks, future sister-in-law," Gu Ling smilingly took the drink, though her hand was slightly trembling. For some reason, she hoped Gu Fan would come back soon. She couldn’t figure Lin Xi out and it scared her a bit.

Lin Xi seemed to notice this and tried to keep smiling, "I’ve always heard Gu Fan talking about his sister, but didn’t realize that you’re this cute. Since you’re Gu Fan’s sister, you’re my sister too."

Gu Ling promptly nodded, "Thank you, future sister-in-law. Thank you, Sister Lin Xi."

Lin Xi pulled Gu Ling off to the side, and with a smile asked, "Alright, now that we’re sisters, do you mind if I speak my mind?"

Gu Ling shook her head, "We just became sisters, I could use some time to get used to it. If you have something to say, better not say it directly. Let’s see how our relationship evolves first."

Hearing this Lin Xi frowned, then followed up with a teasing look, delicately adjusting Gu Ling’s hair, "Xiaoling, your brother says you’re really good at finding money on the streets. Your sensing ability is quite impressive. Can you sense what kind of person your future sister-in-law is?"

Gu Ling hurriedly shook her head, "I’m sorry, future sister-in-law, my abilities are limited, I can only find money, I can’t really sense what kind of person you are."

"Alright then, I won’t push you." Lin Xi’s eyes narrowed and her gaze carried an intimidating aura. Then raised a paused question, "You just got back, stepped into your old house, saw Su Hui and called her future sister-in-law. Have you sensed something, and that’s why you said it?"

Gu Ling quickly explained, "No no, I just saw that Sister Su was very pretty and she was staying at our house, I thought she was my brother’s girlfriend, so out of politeness, I called her future sister-in-law. Maybe if I behaved well, my brother would give me more pocket money. But now I know you’re my real future sister-in-law."

Lin Xi gave a slight smile and reluctantly accepted the explanation, and asked, "So, are you satisfied with me as your future sister-in-law, or would you prefer if it were Sister Su..."

"Of course it’s you! You and my brother are a perfect match, not much age difference, no generation gap." Gu Ling finished, striking a sweet pose.

But Lin Xi gave a skeptical look, "According to my observations, you got very close to Sister Su, but kept distance from me. Can I ask why? Did I offend you in any way or fail to do something?"

"No, no, Sister Lin Xi, don’t overthink it. It’s just that your aura is quite strong. It intimidates a sheltered girl like me. The problem’s with me, not you." As Gu Ling spoke, she subtly sensed a shift in Lin Xi’s mood, seeming to be somewhat displeased.

Gu Fan felt something was up, Lin Xi wasn’t smiling, and Gu Ling’s smile seemed to be forced. It felt as if the sisterly bond had been made out of necessity.

Lin Xi is pressuring Gu Ling firstly intending to test her. As Gu Ling’s sensing ability was impressive, she could’ve sensed that Gu Fan would eventually end up with Su Hui. That’s why she got along with Su Hui.

Secondly, Lin Xi didn’t dislike Gu Ling, but she also didn’t want Gu Ling being a third wheel when she hung out with Gu Fan. By pressuring Gu Ling this time, she hoped to ensure she wouldn’t tag along. As for how she and Gu Ling would deal with each other going forward, that’s to be determined.

However, Lin Xi didn’t know that Gu Ling kept her distance because of her inexplicable nervousnes she felt near Lin Xi. The closer Gu Ling got to Lin Xi, the more her heart pounded, making her anxious. It was as if Lin Xi was shrouded in some sort of shadow.
