Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared
Chapter 363: A Different Physique

Chapter 363: Chapter 363: A Different Physique

Jie, Xu Haowen, and Ouyang Jin ran aimlessly in this abandoned mega-city. The growls of wild beasts echoed all around, inducing fear that didn’t allow them to pause for even a moment. No matter how exhausted, they had to keep running.

Suddenly, a fearsome beast rushed out from a nearby house and knocked down Xu Haowen. Fear-driven, Xu Haowen yelled out for help.

Jie and Ouyang Jin tried to come forward, but more beasts blocked their way, rendering not only their rescue attempts futile but also putting their own lives at stake.

"Help me, please!" Xu Haowen struggled, gripping the beast’s neck. Despite putting all his strength, he couldn’t push it away. Its sharp teeth coming nearer, Xu Haowen felt nothing but desperation.

Just at that crucial moment, a nimble figure descended from the heavens, landing knee-first on one of the beasts and sending it sprawling. The figure then turned and delivered a solid kick to the head of the beast on top of Xu Haowen.

"Thank you, Sister Su!" Xu Haowen expressed his gratitude. Su Hui, however, didn’t have time to respond. With the vigorous spirit of a matchless warrior, she swung her stick, advancing forward while fighting, leaving the beast sprawled on the ground.

Zhuo Hang, old man Tian, and Luo Jingrong joined, expressing their admiration for Su Hui’s skills and courage. However, if more beasts were there, even Su Hui’s skills wouldn’t suffice.

After dealing with the nearby threats, Su Hui exhaled, then asked: "Didn’t you all stick with Lin Xi? Where’s everyone else?"

"We...we got separated," Jie responded, his spirit visibly low after another narrow escape that felt surreal.

Seeing old man Tian, Ouyang Jin seemed relieved to say: "Old man, you guys are left with this handful as well, huh?"

Acknowledging it, Luo Jingrong nodded: "We barely managed to escape. There’s no telling how many more dangers this place holds."

Xu Haowen, scared, asked: "What’s the plan, then? Do we retreat?"

"Retreat? Where to? We’re already surrounded," Su Hui’s response wasn’t meant to discourage but to state the harsh reality.

Just then, they all heard the resonant sound of bells. Zhuo Hang’s brow furrowed: "There’s a bell in this place, that’s odd. Let’s check it out. Maybe there’s something we can find. Perhaps Lin Xi is over there as well."

"Yeah, the more people we have, the better. Maybe we’ll find Lin Xi and the others," everyone agreed and Su Hui had to comply while worrying about Gu Fan’s safety—wondering if he could pull through.

Equally worried about two of his friends, Jie said: "It’s okay. Gu Fan and Lu Yi are blessed with luck and fortune. They’ll be alright."

"I hope so." Everyone’s heart didn’t quite share this optimism. It felt as if they had lost their way completely and feared that none would escape.

While they were walking, Zhuo Hang suddenly called for a halt. It seemed that something odd had caught his attention, followed by a whisper to hide.

After a while, a group of masked people in high-ranking attire strolled past without noticing Su Hui and the others. Their movements, however, were noted by Su Hui.

Impressed, Jie couldn’t help admiring: "Brother Zhuo, you’ve got some predicting skill there. How did you know these folks would pass this way?"

Zhuo Hang didn’t reply. He certainly wouldn’t mention that Cui Qi, embedded with Hai’s group, signaled their location to him.

However, Ouyang Jin voiced a doubt: "How did they get here? I didn’t notice anyone following us on our way."

"Doesn’t matter how they got here, but they’re here. Perhaps even their boss," Su Hui finished her sentence and studied Zhuo Hang’s reaction. She noticed his grim demeanor, his fists clenched as though he was very stressed.

When Hai’s group finally moved along, Su Hui and Zhuo Hang resumed leading the group towards the source of the bells.

If Gu Fan and Lin Xi’s group had reached one side of the tall bell tower, Su Hui and Zhuo Hang were on the other. Both parties were marveling at the towering structure. Regardless of the creator, they were thankful for such a conspicuous landmark.

Zhuo Hang checked his phone and mapped the signal of Cui Qi in their vicinity. Worried about a potential conflict between Cui Qi and Hai’s group, he suggested that they quickly check the tower for food and water.

Su Hui felt a little skeptical about this and suggested further observation. But Zhuo Hang proceeded, unable to wait, only to stumble straight into an electronic shield. A spark-filled impact sent him sprawling back.

"You okay?" Su Hui rushed to help Zhuo Hang, who remained motionless, saying: "I’m fine, you don’t have to worry. Be alert around."

"How can you be okay?" Su Hui could tell by his strained voice that he was injured, insisting on checking him.

"Really, I’m fine." Zhuo Hang turned to cover his face and hands, seemingly not wanting Su Hui to witness the state he was in.

Growing more anxious, Su Hui strived to turn Zhuo Hang, but to no effect. He just kept insisting that he was fine.

"Quit acting like a child, let me check," exasperated, Su Hui sought Jie’s help. It took everyone’s effort to flip Zhuo Hang, revealing his unscathed face bearing an astonished expression.

Confused, Jie remarked: "Bro, if you’re alright, quit fooling around. We got seriously worried."

"I was just a bit shocked, but I am fine, really. Don’t worry," Zhuo Hang brushed off his fall and seemed perfectly fine, easing everybody’s tension.

Satisfied, Su Hui led everyone to pay attention to the electronic protective shield, wondering about the person capable of deploying such advanced technology. With this shield in the way, how were they supposed to break through?

While others contemplated intensely, Su Hui stealthily returned to where Zhuo Hang had fallen over. Noticing that Zhuo Hang had repeatedly stepped on a particular spot, as if hiding something.

Blood. There were blood stains on the ground. Was it Zhuo Hang’s? But he seemed unhurt. Su Hui was taken aback.
