Chapter 305: Continue the Snowball Fight
Chapter 305: Chapter 305: Continue the Snowball Fight
They moved forward a day without any dangers, with nothing happened, which made everyone feel relieved. They hoped the rest of the journey would also go smoothly.
However, Lu Yi began to feel a little suspicious, "How peculiar it is! We haven’t encountered any dangers in these many days, which contradicts our crisis-filled fate. I’m really not used to this."
Upon hearing him, Jie and Xu Haowen immediately tackled Lu Yi into the snow and started wrestling with him, yelling as they fought, "Lu Yi, you’re such a doomsayer! If you don’t feel at ease, keep it to yourself, but for God’s sake, stop talking and let us be."
Lu Yi defended himself, "I’m just reminding everyone to stay vigilant. Is that so wrong?"
Seeing the three of them wrestling in the snow, embarrassing themselves, Gu Fan shook his head and sighed. Their group’s disorderly behavior was indeed concerning.
Ouyang Jin ran up to Gu Fan, sighed, "Gu Fan, I don’t want to hike up prices. However, if Lu Yi, the doomsayer, doesn’t shut up, and we keep running into trouble over and over again, I’ll be forced to raise my rates."
"What! How dare you put the blame on me for your rate hike!" Lu Yi shot up and lunged at Ouyang Jin, followed by Jie and Xu Haowen who also charged at him. After countering Lu Yi’s doomsday predictions, they were ready to dissuade Ouyang Jin from his intentions to raise prices.
Watching the four men tumble and wrestle in the snow, it was hard to distinguish one from another. Gu Fan was exasperated, "For heaven’s sake, when are you guys going to stop?"
Ouyang Jin was the first to jump up, and while running, scooped up some snow from the ground, rolled it into a ball, and threw it at Lu Yi.
Lu Yi, not one to back down, retaliated with his own snowball. The two began hurling snowballs at each other, accidentally hitting Jie and Xu Haowen in the process.
"You guys are going to pay for this!" Jie and Xu Haowen joined the snowball fight, and soon enough, a snowball war ignited. Unsurprisingly, those nearby quickly joined in on the fun.
"Oh, you think you can hit me and walk away? Look at this!" Gu Fan’s retaliation after being hit with a snowball missed its target and ended up hitting Su Hui instead.
"You little brat, you did that on purpose, didn’t you?" Su Hui huffed, having no intention of letting Gu Fan off the hook.
At Gu Fan’s request for backup, Lu Yi and the others came to his aid. They bombarded Su Hui with snowballs, overpowering her with numbers and showing her their power.
"You little punks, you wait and see!" Su Hui ran to Zhuo Hang for backup. Zhuo Hang was, however, a little hesitant. This child’s play was a complete mismatch to his mature style; he hadn’t planned on joining the snowball fight.
However, when several snowballs hit Zhuo Hang in the face, he decided to let loose, "Su Hui, I’ll help you deal with these brats."
"Great! Ning Qi, you should help me too." At Su Hui’s call, even more people joined the snowball fight.
The group split into two teams for the snowball fight, one running, the other chasing, throwing snowballs at each other. The joyful and excited atmosphere even made the journey seem more bearable.
Old man Tian was the only one who continued to walk expressionless, following the path that Ning Qi insisted on taking. Meaning, they were now on the route Ning Qi wanted. The old man quietly observed Ning Qi, who was immersed in the joy of the snowball fight, as he pondered why Ning Qi insisted on this particular path.
After a while, everyone tired out from the snowball fight, but no sign of fatigue showed on their faces. They had a lively and relaxing day since they entered the snow forest.
"Okay, let’s take a short break, then get back on the road," Gu Fan walked up to Su Hui and murmured, "Now that we’re on Ning Qi’s path, we’d better be careful. I don’t know why, but I have a bad feeling about Ning Qi."
According to the previous path marked by old man Tian, Gu Fan’s team could directly reach Yuxueyun Mountain. But with Ning Qi’s team joining them, the proposed change of route meant a slight detour before reaching Yuxueyun Mountain.
Gu Fan agreed. Compromises had to be made by both teams if they were to continue their journey together. But after days of travel, Gu Fan observed that the path Ning Qi chose might not be so straightforward.
As the group moved on, Lu Yi asked, "Ning Qi, you said we’d see some beautiful scenery along this route. How much longer will it take for us to get there?"
"If we continue at this pace, we will be there by tomorrow." Ning Qi seemed confident in promising that they would see a beautiful landscape.
Everyone was hoping to witness nature’s beauty. After all the stumble and trials, it was time for them to relax and enjoy the scenery.
Suddenly, old man Tian, who was leading, crouched down, seemingly investigating something. Gu Fan and Su Hui immediately went over to see what he had found. To their surprise, it was footprints.
"These footprints...someone walked ahead of us." Gu Fan was puzzled. He hadn’t expected that anyone besides them would venture so deep into the forest.
Lu Yi was also befuddled. "Who could it be? Could it be..."
Gu Fan frowned, thinking it couldn’t be Lin Xi’s group, could it? But it seemed too coincidental to run into them in this vast forest.
At that moment, Ning Qi chimed in, "Who is it? Do you guys know?"
Gu Fan quickly shook his head, "No, we don’t know. Lu Yi meant that maybe they are hunters, like you guys."
"Oh, I see." Ning Qi gave a knowing nod, but she didn’t believe Gu Fan’s lie. From the look in his eyes, it was clear he was hiding something. This could be related to why Gu Fan and his group came here in the first place.
As they moved further, they found more and more footprints – as though seven or eight people had passed by.
If it had only been a few footprints, Gu Fan would have suspected it was Lin Xi’s group. But who could it be? Some hunters who decided to venture this deep into the forest?
"Look ahead; isn’t that someone?" At Lu Yi’s words, everyone craned their necks. Indeed, they could see several figures about two hundred meters ahead.
"Let’s go and say hello." Following Gu Fan’s suggestion, they all moved forward. One step, two steps, they gradually neared the group.
However, they were confused because the group was standing still as though they hadn’t noticed them approaching. Some of them were even on their knees. Their postures were strange.
