Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared
Chapter 200: Feeling Right

Chapter 200: Chapter 200: Feeling Right

As she was injured, Su Hui took leave to recover at home. The best way to describe her condition was as though every part of her body was aching and it felt like her bones were about to fall apart. She had never been at such a disadvantage in a fight in her life.

"Ouch, ouch, ouch. Do it gently, boy." As Su Hui asked Gu Fan to help apply rubbing alcohol, she constantly complained that he was neither light nor heavy-handed.

Gu Fan was helpless: "Sister Su, you must bear with it. You are strong; you are the role model I look up to." After saying this, Gu Fan properly tended to the bruised places on Su Hui’s arms.

Su Hui didn’t take it well and glared at Gu Fan: "You imp, are you trying to take revenge on me for the times I’ve bullied you? Keep in mind, that was me spurring you on. It would help if you learned to appreciate it."

"Not at all, I don’t even have enough time to pamper you. How could I possibly hurt you?" Although Gu Fan spoke seriously, there was a hint of wickedness in his eyes which unsettled Su Hui.

Finally, it was over. Su Hui struggled to swing her arm, only to find that she could barely lift it. It seemed her recovery would be quite difficult in the short run.

At this point, Lu Yi arrived with some comforting fruit. When he saw the bruised areas on Su Hui’s arm, he pulled a sympathetic face: "Oh my god, Sister Su, what on earth happened to you? How did you end up so badly beaten? Surely you didn’t beg for mercy."

Su Hui had already rolled her eyes at Gu Fan several times before. Now she didn’t have the energy to keep doing so. She could only swallow her rage: "Listen up, although I’m injured and can’t retaliate, I will recover one day. When that day comes, you guys are done for."

"Sister Su, don’t talk like that. Your speedy recovery is also dependent on my tender care." After saying this, Gu Fan lifted Su Hui’s arm and deliberately rubbed rubbing alcohol on her bruises, which made Su Hui groan in pain. Internally she was thinking, ’you watch out, young man!’

Now let’s talk serious. Su Hui recounted the events that took place the night before in detail. When Gu Fan and Lu Yi heard about the person who could not be killed by bullets, their expressions changed multiple times.

However, Gu Fan and Lu Yi quickly understood. After their experiences in Qianye Country and learning that Lin Xi was a reincarnation of Queen Qianye, blessed with eternal life and other abilities, they were able to accept the existence of this indestructible fellow. But, the problem was, this person was an enemy.

Now they had a real headache. Gu Fan scratched his head – if this invincible person charged into their house, wouldn’t they be done for?

Lu Yi frowned: "Really? Does this mysterious force have such a monster? How do we fight it? Perhaps we should just make peace with them."

Yes, indeed. Su Hui also looked serious. It seemed like it was going to be quite difficult. Based on last night’s fight, not only was this monster indestructible, but it was also fast and strong. It seemed like an entire army couldn’t defeat it. If they encountered it again, they might as well just surrender.

"There’s one more thing I want to mention. When I was in danger last night, it was Lin Xi who saved me. It seemed like she teleported some force from far away to help me fight the monster. I could even hear Lin Xi’s voice in my ear." Having spoken, Su Hui noticed the astonished expressions on Gu Fan and Lu Yi’s faces. They didn’t expect that Lin Xi, who was presently a stranger to them, would come to their aid.

No matter what, Lin Xi was Su Hui’s saviour and deserved gratitude. However, this matter could be put aside for now. Determining how to deal with the indestructible monster was the urgent issue at hand.

With a pessimistic look, Su Hui said, "I am a police officer. It’s my duty not to retreat in the face of any enemy. I will continue the fight, but it’s not the same for you two. You’re just two university students. You may still have time to withdraw."

Hearing this, Gu Fan and Lu Yi hesitated for a moment before reassuringly smiling, "What are you saying, Sister Su? Are we cowards in your eyes? During our time in the borderlands, we faced life and death situations multiple times yet we’re not afraid. Sometimes destiny is just arranged this way; we have to confront it, not avoid it."

Lu Yi also agreed: "After all, Sister Su, the journey to the borderlands was unrelated to you, yet you still went with us. Now that you’re up against an indestructible monster, we will definitely support you till the end. Besides, when I rescued Old Xing and recorded the video, we were already involved. We’re in this together now."

Su Hui gave a relieved smile. She appreciated the encouraging nod. It was comforting to know that she had Gu Fan and Lu Yi by her side to fight along with her in these dire times.

Gu Fan added, "Whoever this indestructible monster is, Lin Xi had mentioned there are some things we might find hard to deal with before. Maybe the monster is one of them. Perhaps Lin Xi knows its identity."

Su Hui agreed, "You’re right. Perhaps Lin Xi is also under threat from this indestructible monster. We should cooperate in this respect, but..."

"There’s no time to lose; we should go find Lin Xi right away." Lu Yi got excited, but his proposal received no response.

Gu Fan just gave a bitter smile, "What Sister Su meant by ’but’ is that this collaboration seems hard to put into action. Lin Xi has repeatedly stressed that we should not interfere. Judging from Lin Xi’s attitude, she probably won’t let us participate. I’m positive that once we get involved, we will find out many hidden things which Lin Xi doesn’t want us to know."

Listening to one bad news after another, Lu Yi grimaced, "This won’t work, that won’t work, what do we do? Do we just sit back and watch the two groups clash, leaving both parties hurt, so we can reap the benefits of their fallout?"

"Maybe that’s one way to go about it, but I worry that as we delve deeper into our investigation, the two groups will definitely target us before their final showdown. They won’t give us the chance to benefit from their conflict." Su Hui’s reasoning wasn’t without merit. It suggested that Gu Fan’s side was currently the weakest.

Just as everyone was discussing back and forth without coming up with any good strategies, someone suddenly knocked on the door.

"Who is it?" Gu Fan looked puzzled; he didn’t recall expecting anyone today.

Lu Yi thought of a possibility, "Could it be that invincible monster paying us a visit?"

"No way. It’s broad daylight, and there are so many neighbors around. They wouldn’t be so bold." Gu Fan reasoned as he walked over to the door. Despite knowing there was no danger outside, his heart raced uncontrollably, and his palms were slick with sweat.

Upon opening the door, they were greeted by the cheerful and handsome Zhuo Hang, "Hello, Gu Fan. I came to see Su Hui. Is she in?"

"Yes, she is!" After replying, Gu Fan gestured for Zhuo Hang to enter.

Upon seeing Zhuo Hang’s arrival, Su Hui’s gaze momentarily changed, but it was fleeting. She quickly resumed her usual demeanor and then asked on purpose, "You came to visit your comrade-in-arms, yet you brought nothing with you?"

"I’m sorry, I was in a rush. I had to deal with many things." After saying this, Zhuo Hang looked around, glanced at Gu Fan and Lu Yi, and then apologized, "Sorry, I have some work-related matters to discuss with Su Hui privately. Might I borrow your space?"

"Sure. I was actually about to go out to get some things, anyway. You two take your time." Gu Fan tactfully left with Lu Yi, who was somewhat displeased.

Waiting for a moment, Zhuo Hang cleared his throat, "About last night’s incident, all three suspects were silenced. Several colleagues were killed, and others were more or less injured, currently lying in the hospital. Your injuries are fairly minor in comparison."

Su Hui shook her head with a bitter smile, "I suppose I was just luckier."

Zhuo Hang’s expression grew stern, "I just finished taking statements at the hospital. The injured colleagues told me everything that happened last night. I find it hard to believe that there’s an invincible person that bullets can’t kill, who can also flip a car with a single punch."

In response, Su Hui gave a wry smile, "Believe me, I wish I didn’t have to believe we’re up against a monster either, but that’s the reality. It’s the massive disparity in abilities that has left me in such a state."

"Alright, my superiors also find it hard to believe there’s an invincible monster. So, to be cautious, I also need your statement. That’s the reason I came to see you." When he finished speaking, Zhuo Hang looked at Su Hui, concern evident in his eyes, "I regret sending you on the mission last night. You’re a civilian. You shouldn’t have been responsible."

"It’s okay, I was never really suited to desk work, this job actually suits me better." As soon as Su Hui finished speaking, she saw the pained look in Zhuo Hang’s eyes. He gently picked up Su Hui’s arm and examined the various bruises, then asked, "It must hurt a lot, right?"

"A bit." For some reason, Su Hui answered very quietly, her heart beating faster as she avoided Zhuo Hang’s gaze.

Zhuo Hang continued to gaze at Su Hui, his eyes full of concern. Seeing her slightly shy and instantly stunning face, he finally gathered the courage to give her a light peck on the forehead.

Although it was brief, it was a special feeling for both of them. Their breathing, their heartbeats, and their feelings, all seemed to wake up. Gazing deeply into each other’s eyes, everything was said without words.

Su Hui knew, the new love she had been waiting for was about to begin.

At the same time, Gu Fan and Lu Yi were walking outside. Lu Yi was somewhat dissatisfied, "Bro, tell me, did you really not notice, or did you just pretend you didn’t, that there’s something off with Sister Su and that Zhuo guy’s glances at each other? And yet, you left them alone together in a room."

"That’s their business, not ours to meddle with." Gu Fan’s words said one thing, but his heart felt an inexplicable tinge of discomfort.

A gust of wind blew by, and Gu Fan was momentarily lost in thought. It felt as if something crucial and meaningful was being blown away, leaving him feel empty. He stood there, looking longingly at the street filled with people passing by, feeling a sense of inexplicable loss.
