Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared
Chapter 198: Caught the Person

Chapter 198: Chapter 198: Caught the Person

"Behave yourself." Hai landed a heavy fist on Lu Yi’s face, then sternly interrogated him, "Tell me, why does Su Hui know where we caught you, why?"

"How would I know? I was suddenly captured by you guys, I had no idea it was coming, maybe it’s because Sister Su and I share a telepathic bond." Lu Yi’s answer had some logic to it, but it felt off.

After some time, they hadn’t found any tracking devices on Lu Yi, which left Hai totally confused. He couldn’t understand how his whereabouts had been revealed, and the more he didn’t understand, the more he feared.

What now? Hai considered moving immediately, but what if there were people waiting outside in ambush? What if Su Hui brought a team with her? If his gang tried to charge out, they would inevitably get caught.

Last time, Hai had used quite extreme measures to deal with those who were captured, it had stirred up a lot of trouble, he knew it couldn’t happen again.

Being cautious, Hai called Leng Le, informed him of the seriousness of the situation, which turned Leng Le pale. Soon after, Leng Le checked the signals and found that Gu Fan was actually near the old factory. These guys weren’t just bluffing, they meant business.

What to do, charge out by force, or sit and wait for death? Without clear knowledge of friend and foe, Hai didn’t dare make hasty decisions.

Leng Le, knowing that every step had to be made with caution, thought carefully and gave Hai a suggestion.

Following Leng Le’s advice, Hai climbed out from the other side of the wall, took a detour and pretended to be panting, then called Jie, implying that his location was a bit off, he didn’t know the exact position.

Jie took his word for it and immediately went to pick up Hai, signaling everyone not to act hastily.

Gu Fan and Su Hui alone were not very much of a sure bet, if they could have an additional person adding strength, they were also willing to wait.

A bit later, Jie arrived with Hai. This was the first time Su Hui met Hai, she shook his hand to show friendliness, but the moment their hands met, she slightly furrowed her brow. Hai seemed familiar in terms of height and physique.

Hai also caught Su Hui’s slightly unnatural expression and thought to himself, could she suspect him, just based on that? She’s indeed the cream of the crop among the police force.

Looking around, Hai put on a puzzled expression, "I heard your friend has been kidnapped. Do you know how many kidnappers there are, and it’s just you guys?"

In response, Su Hui nodded, "Correct, it’s just us few. I heard you’re a soldier, capable of taking on ten people at once. Trust me, theoretically, we can take down the kidnappers."

"I hope so." Hai projected an image of confidence, but couldn’t help feeling a bit gleeful inside. Apparently, it was only these few people, this would make things much simpler.

Rescuing people was of utmost urgency. They decided to set off immediately, while Hai deliberately stayed at the back of the group, secretly sending a message to his accomplices, telling them there was nothing to fear outside, they could just dash out.

Getting the message, Hai’s subordinates immediately escorted Lu Yi into the car. Three vans set off together, charging straight out of the gate.

Just as Gu Fan and Su Hui were preparing to go in, they saw this scene and their faces changed instantly. They were just about to take action when the other party bolted. What was going on?

Su Hui could tell, their behavior wasn’t a typical relocation. They charged out too violently, as if they knew danger was closing in, hence they were dashing away.

Watching the three vans drive off into the distance, Su Hui and Gu Fan’s hearts sank. Not only did they fail to rescue Lu Yi this time, but they also weren’t sure if the kidnappers would vent their frustration by beating up Lu Yi.

However, at that very moment, a few jeeps charged out and blocked the escaping vans from both directions.

"You’ve got to be kidding." Su Hui didn’t expect Zhuo Hang to take action. After blocking the vans, he and the other officers quickly jumped out of their vehicles and started the arrest.

Seeing the situation take a turn, Hai’s subordinates, realizing they couldn’t drive away, jumped off the car and scattered in all directions, not caring about their hostage, Lu Yi, anymore.

"What are you waiting for? Go!" Su Hui quickly rushed forward, joining the arrest operation.

Gu Fan and Jie followed suit. They all charged majestically to rescue their friend, as for catching criminals, they weren’t concerned.

Hai didn’t go up, instead from behind he watched in shock. Hadn’t they said that there were only a few of them like Su Hui and Gu Fan? Where did Zhuo Hang and his group come from then? Why were there police operations taking place, but Leng Le knew nothing about it?

As he watched his subordinates getting arrested one by one, Hai’s heart chilled. Could it be that he was suspected of wrongdoing all along, which is why Su Hui didn’t mention Zhuo Hang’s group earlier?

Hai cursed himself for being foolish. There’s no way Gu Fan and Su Hui would dare to venture into danger alone, they must have had backup which is why they acted. Wait, if they had backup and were confident of success, then why did they ask Jie to call for his support? Could this have been a test?

One, two, three arrests... Hai had brought out twelve of his men, and with their familiarity of the surroundings combined with the cover of night, they scattered in different directions. Su Hui, Zhuo Hang and their team did not have enough people, so only three of them got arrested.

Su Hui caught one, Zhuo Hang caught another, and the other police officers caught the third. Meanwhile, Gu Fan and Jie rapidly searched through each minivan and finally dragged out Lu Yi.

The poor Lu Yi had no idea what was happening. Thinking that he was in danger, he pleaded hastily, "Brother, brother, don’t hurt me, we can talk about this, I just want to be an ordinary university student, I don’t want to get mixed up in all this. Please accept my apologies for any past offenses. If you won’t turn me away, I’d like to join your organization and serve you."

After hearing such a desperate plea, Gu Fan and Jie felt both amused and a little lost. They hesitated whether to save this potentially disloyal companion since he seemed quite unreliable.

They didn’t rush to untie Lu Yi immediately. Jie pinched his nose and chuckled quietly, "One moment you fight us, the next you want to join us. How can we trust you? You’re the type of flexible character that I hate the most."

"Switch sides? I would never do that, I am completely trustworthy, everyone knows." Lu Yi continued trying to explain, but Jie replied with an expression of disbelief, "Sure you are! Over my dead body."

"Ah..." Lu Yi wasn’t scared by Jie’s words, but he was rather confused. After hearing the suppressed laughter around him, he realized he had been made fun of and couldn’t help but curse angrily, "You bastards! I was almost scared to death and you still play pranks on me!"

"Sorry, it wasn’t intentional, we were about to untie you but you spoke so much." Gu Fan laughed as he untied Lu Yi and removed the blindfold from his eyes.

Finally free, Lu Yi took a deep breath. Seeing Su Hui, Gu Fan, and Jie around, and even Hai and a few strangers in the distance standing with Su Hui, he felt sure they were on his side.

"I knew I was lucky! I knew you guys would come to save me!" Lu Yi then started cheering. Overwhelmed with joy, he went to give Su Hui, Gu Fan, and Jie an appreciative embrace.

Su Hui maneuvered to escape just in time, leaving Gu Fan and Jie to be knocked over by Lu Yi. Despite their awkward position, Lu Yi held onto his friends tightly, looking like the happiest person in the world, and said, "The best thing in my life is having you two as my friends. You’re both the ones I’ve risked life and limb with. I really love you both, do you know that?"

Gu Fan was quick to yelp, "We’re aware of that, really, we are. Please get off us now; we won’t survive your affection!"

All seemed to end well, but Zhuo Hang looked dissatisfied. They only managed to capture three small-fries, no big fish, and they still didn’t know if they could extract any useful information from them.

Su Hui expressed his gratitude for Zhuo Hang stepping in when it mattered. Otherwise, who knows where Lu Yi would have been taken, and the potential consequences?

Zhuo Hang sighed, "A case this big wouldn’t have gone smoothly. Su Hui, I want to show you through actions that we shouldn’t work independently, but we should continue to collaborate. Only then will we get a chance to uproot this organization."

Su Hui nodded in agreement, her respect for Zhuo Hang significantly increased.

Zhuo Hang stared at Su Hui and Su Hui stared back. The two of them locked eyes for a moment, making Lu Yi feel uncomfortable. He asked, "Who is this guy anyway? He seems to have some special relationship with Sister Su."

The sudden interruption broke the tension between Zhuo Hang and Su Hui, causing them both to look away in embarrassment. Zhuo Hang, wanting to steer the conversation away, stepped forward and began to console Lu Yi. "Your name is Lu Yi, right? We appreciate your providing information for the police. It is regrettable that it has put you in danger. I hope you don’t step back, keep cooperating with us to weed out this strange force. I believe you can do it."

Hearing this, Su Hui furrowed her brows, thinking about what he meant. Was Zhuo Hang trying to involve Gu Fan as well? Then she understood, since Gu Fan and Lu Yi were already part of it, cooperating with the police was their only way forward.

Similarly, Gu Fan acknowledged this fact and expressed his willingness to cooperate with the police.

Even though there were some complications that night, everyone agreed to collaborate, which ended up being a good thing. The only exception was Hai, who wasn’t feeling too pleasant, as he sensed the formation of a formidable team, and this could affect his boss Leng Le’s next move.

"Things have become complicated." Leng Le, who was updated about the situation, just couldn’t sleep. She needed to find a way to subdue this growing threat.
