Gu Fan had more classes today so he didn’t come to work or arrange a date, which allowed Leng Le to go home straight after work and properly rest her tired body. Thinking about her time spent with Gu Fan, Leng Le indeed felt very happy. Every time she was with Gu Fan, they would chat and laugh, as if they could never run out of things to say or do.

To do this, Leng Le had to amplify Gu Fan’s merits in her heart. Though she was beaten by Gu Fan and felt resentful, she never underestimated him. Especially with his ability to find the Qianye Country and save twelve missing classmates, he could be described as both intelligent and brave.

It was because of such capabilities that Leng Le acknowledged and admired Gu Fan’s abilities. This was her view towards Gu Fan, so she didn’t resist taking advantage or whole-heartedly investing herself into their time together, performing her part very realistically.

By nightfall, just as Leng Le was about to get off work and pack her things, she suddenly received a call. A subordinate reported spotting someone in the train station who resembled Lin Xi, suspecting that she had returned.

The news immediately awakened the weary Leng Le. She ordered her subordinate to keep watch over Lin Xi’s house and checked if lights were turned on.

As for Gu Fan’s place, Leng Le intended to handle it personally. She was afraid that her subordinates might be caught by Gu Fan in their surveillance, stirring up unnecessary trouble.

Leng Le sent a message to confirm that Gu Fan was at home and decided to surprise him with an unexpected visit. If she also saw Lin Xi there, it would be even more exciting.

Before, Leng Le had secretly installed cameras in Gu Fan’s house. But for some reason, when the Qianye Country returned, she realized all surveillance cameras were not working. She was worried that Gu Fan might have discovered them. Hence, she decided to get rid of the cameras and appear in Gu Fan’s life as his girlfriend, watching over every move he made.

So, she arrived at Gu Fan’s house, knocked on the door, and heard noises inside the house. Leng Le held her breath, wondering how Gu Fan would react if Lin Xi was indeed there.

When Gu Fan opened the door and saw Leng Le standing outside, he was immediately overjoyed. "Why didn’t you tell me you were coming? Were you trying to surprise me?"

"Of course, I wanted to give my boyfriend the most beautiful surprise." Leng Le gave a slight smile, instantly looking radiant. Then, she stepped inside. Seeing Gu Fan showed no unnatural expressions nor resistance, Leng Le knew that Lin Xi was not there.

Gu Fan was watching a soccer match at home and invited Leng Le to join him. As his girlfriend, she obliged. She comfortably sat down on the couch, let Gu Fan hold her in his arms, and together they watched a match which she found rather boring.

Gu Fan watched the lengthy soccer match intently, cheered for his favorite team, and sometimes even forgot about Leng Le in his arms.

This did not bother Leng Le. In fact, she needed Gu Fan’s attention to be on other things so that she could message her subordinates to confirm the situation.

After some time, her subordinates reported that the lights had not been turned on in Lin Xi’s house and neither Lin Xi nor her family had been seen entering the residential area.

Leng Le reasoned that if Lin Xi was indeed back in the city and didn’t go home, she was likely to go looking for Gu Fan. So she decided to wait and see; if Lin Xi appeared, all the questions would be solved.

When the match ended, Gu Fan looked up and realized it was already eleven o’clock. Feeling it was already late, he thought it was time to rest. Then he noticed that Leng Le had fallen asleep in his arms, making him regret neglecting her while watching the match.

Gu Fan stayed immobile, afraid of interrupting the fair lady’s beautiful dream. Yet, he knew this was unsustainable. During his indecision, Leng Le woke up. She looked around before asking, "What happened? Is the match over already? Who won?"

Gu Fan chuckled, "Who won doesn’t matter. What’s important is that it’s now 11 o’clock, soon to be midnight. Staying up late is harmful for a young girl’s skin."

"Yeah, you’re right! It’s really not good!" Leng Le also chuckled, her face flushing with embarrassment.

Gu Fan had been expecting Leng Le to remark, "It is late, I should be going!", and made ready to send her off. But she just cast her eyes downward, silently lying in Gu Fan’s arms.

Finally, he couldn’t wait any longer. "It’s too late now, it’s not safe for you to go back on your own. Let me take you home," he offered.

"I drove here, so there’s no safety concern. You don’t need to send me home," Leng Le replied with a light smile, then added, "Right now, I’d rather not leave. I’d like to spend more time with you."

"Sure, I’d also like you to stay a bit longer." Gu Fan was overjoyed because he took it as a sign of her love for him. Little did he know that Leng Le was worried Lin Xi would come knocking as soon as she stepped out.

The two chatted and bantered until midnight. Noticing the time, Gu Fan looked at Leng Le. She turned her head away, her face colored with hesitation, apparently in no hurry to leave.

Sensing something off, Gu Fan noticed Leng Le was acting different than usual. Normally, she’d have left by 10 p.m., but tonight she seemed reluctant. Her evident embarrassment hinted at something...

Suddenly, Gu Fan’s heart pounded in confusion. To hide his heightened heartbeat, he excused himself to the restroom where he spun various possible scenarios. Alone late at night in a man’s home, she seemed in no hurry to leave. He could only come to one conclusion.

"It must be it! I can’t believe she’s so forward. I’m not ready for this..." Gu Fan started to fantasize. He felt a tad guilty but couldn’t help a surge of excitement. After all, who could blame him?

"Calm down, calm down. I can’t let impulse override my judgement. I’m not too old or too young to bear such responsibility." Gu Fan took a deep breath to subdue the flames of desire within him.

Then, Gu Fan thought to himself, "What the hell? She’s taken such an initiative, aren’t you a man? Cowardice will lead to others’ disrespect. You can’t be a coward. If you’re a man, act like one. Who’s afraid?"

Making up his mind, Gu Fan exited the restroom. Seeing the serious look on his face, Leng Le’s heart fluttered with unease, a hint of foreboding creeping over her.
