Chapter 1667: Chapter 1667: The Battle Begins
At this moment, a towering, muscular man with iron-hard muscles stepped forward, bravely blocking Gu Fan’s charge with his burly frame, standing unmoving.
"How can this be?" Gu Fan couldn’t believe it—his strength couldn’t even budge the man.
The muscular man snorted coldly, pushed off with his foot, fully advanced, and pressured Gu Fan backward step after step, leaving him unable to stop.
Gu Fan pressed both hands against the muscular man’s solid arms, braced his legs against the ground to hold firm, but he still couldn’t stop sliding backward, leaving deep grooves in the ground with his feet.
"You’re finished!" The muscular man, having won the advantage in strength, swung a heavy punch straight into Gu Fan’s face, sending him flying.
In the past, Gu Fan had been an unstoppable force, but in this era, setbacks came one after another, and his confidence was slowly crumbling.
The muscular man snapped his fingers—a signal for the others to go on ahead while he handled things here.
The members of the X Legion immediately climbed into armored vehicles and continued advancing toward the Resistance Army Headquarters. Meanwhile, the Blackbird Man did not leave, continuing to circle in the sky, waiting for an opportunity.
"No other choice, I’ll have to give it my all." Gu Fan began warming up—stretching his legs, twisting his torso—acting as if he hadn’t been serious earlier.
The muscular man wasn’t in a hurry. Confident in his overwhelming strength, he believed Gu Fan couldn’t possibly pull off any tricks.
"Alright then, oh heavily muscled friend, let’s start over." Gu Fan greeted him casually, his relaxed tone betraying no sign of real politeness.
"Sure, come on!" The muscular man was pumped, pounding his fists against his chest, ready for battle.
Gu Fan closed his eyes, imagining what Su Hui might do if faced with an opponent stronger than herself.
"What’s that supposed to mean?" The muscular man was baffled. Didn’t they agree to fight? Why was Gu Fan closing his eyes now?
A moment later, Gu Fan opened his eyes. Though hidden behind a mask, his renewed confidence was unmistakable.
Impatient, the muscular man rushed straight at him, advancing in large strides and hurling his fists powerfully.
Gu Fan’s eyes were sharp, his focus razor-sharp. Watching the muscular man’s incoming attack, he expertly weaved through the gaps between punches with nimble movements, evading every blow unscathed.
"How’s this possible?" The muscular man threw punches relentlessly, but each strike hit nothing but air, leaving him increasingly flustered.
Seizing the chance, Gu Fan grasped the muscular man’s arms with both hands, dropped his body low, then lifted his feet off the ground, twisting and curling himself around the muscular man’s head and torso to lock him in a Cross Lock.
The muscular man felt like the world had turned upside down. One moment later, he was flipped onto the ground, and before he knew it, he was being pinned down, unable to move.
"Damn you!" The muscular man tried using brute strength to break free, but Gu Fan pressed one leg onto his throat, making the effort increasingly futile.
Just then, up in the sky, the Blackbird Man saw what was happening and recognized it was time to strike. He dove down like an arrow shot from the heavens, aiming straight at Gu Fan.
"Joining in? Perfect timing." Gu Fan swiftly shifted from pressing down to stepping aside, flipped himself up, and grabbed the muscular man, hoisting him high above his head.
"Oh no!" The Blackbird Man realized too late and couldn’t stop himself. He slammed headfirst into the muscular man whom Gu Fan had turned into a shield.
The muscular man’s body was as sturdy as iron, but the Blackbird Man’s dive carried the force of a sharp arrow. The result was that the solid shield was shattered, and the sharp arrow broke as well.
With a pained howl, both the muscular man and the Blackbird Man collapsed to the ground, their bodies feeling as though they were on the verge of breaking apart.
Gu Fan had also felt some of the impact, but compared to the other two, he was in far better shape. More importantly, his recovery ability meant that any injury would heal in mere moments.
"Apologies, but this wasn’t exactly fair. However, since it’s two against one, I won’t hold back." With that, Gu Fan charged forward, targeting the muscular man first.
Despite the muscular man enduring tremendous pain, he forced himself to his feet and swung his fists furiously in retaliation.
But his injuries had slowed him down, causing every attack to miss its mark, while Gu Fan’s rapid, punishing blows left him utterly disoriented.
"Damn it, you bastard!" The muscular man flailed wildly, waving his arms in desperation to drive Gu Fan back.
"You’re done!" Gu Fan seized the muscular man’s head and slammed it into the ground with a resounding crash, the impact reverberating violently.
The muscular man was completely dazed, staggering unsteadily even as he stubbornly tried to stand, his efforts futile and his condition grim.
With full power unleashed, Gu Fan hammered the muscular man with blow after brutal blow, striking him back down onto the ground once more.
By this time, the Blackbird Man had recovered some strength, attempting to get up and launch himself into the air. But just as his wings spread and he began to rise, he was stunned to see Gu Fan already above him.
"Sorry, but you’re going right back down." Without hesitation, Gu Fan’s foot stomped heavily on the Blackbird Man’s face, driving him hard back to the ground, before launching a series of ferocious kicks against him.
In just moments, Gu Fan defeated the two remould persons, claiming an overwhelming victory. Wiping his sweat away, he finally allowed himself to relax and grabbed the battered Blackbird Man.
At this point, the Blackbird Man had been pummeled black-and-blue, his eyes pleading for mercy, silently begging, "Big brother, you win—I admit defeat. Please stop hitting me."
With a stern expression, Gu Fan demanded, "Tell me, how many people did the X Legion send this time? Surely it’s more than just you lot. Speak honestly, or I’ll pluck every feather off you and roast you alive."
The Blackbird Man panicked and quickly nodded, blurting out his answer: "Yes, we’re just one of the groups. There are three other forces that should soon be closing in on the Resistance Army Headquarters as well."
It seemed the enemy had split into four-pronged forces, aiming to surround and eliminate the Resistance Army Headquarters completely.
With no time to waste, Gu Fan leapt into action, racing to the battlefield. Though he’d taken out two remould persons, easing some pressure on his allies, the rest would depend on their ability to hold the line.
Speeding at breakneck pace, Gu Fan felt the wind roar past his ears, until he saw that the Resistance Army base was already consumed by flames of war, with rockets falling in clusters like shooting stars, bombarding the desolate grounds.
Boom boom boom—the thunderous explosions shook the earth as decrepit buildings collapsed one after another under the relentless blasts.
