Waking up to a new day, a new beginning, Gu Fan no longer checked his phone for calls or messages. His mood was getting better and better. After sprucing up, he enjoyed a hearty breakfast with a hundredfold increase in vitality. Then, he waited for a red car to pull up in front of his house.

The car door opened, and a sleek leg followed Leng Le out of the car, an enticing sight for anyone to behold. Her devilishly attractive figure made Gu Fan chuckle, and he couldn’t resist walking over to her, wrapping his arms around her waist and giving her a peck on the lips.

"My man, where are we heading today?" Leng Le asked with a playful grin, pinching Gu Fan’s nose affectionately.

The two had been together for almost a month, and their relationship was only growing more passionate. Not just Gu Fan, even Leng Le felt everything was moving far quicker than she had imagined. Every playful flirtation left her with a peculiar sensation.

"Today, I am taking you to an exciting place, but it’s a secret for now." Gu Fan’s lips curved upwards, looking at Leng Le’s gorgeous face, he couldn’t resist giving her another peck.

"Stop it!" Despite initially getting close to Gu Fan with a specific purpose in mind, Leng Le was indeed starting to enjoy their displays of affection. Being with Gu Fan definitely lifted her spirits.

Truth be told, it had been ages since a man had moved Leng Le. Gu Fan’s arrival was like a warm ray of sunshine melting the iciness in her world. Gradually, she found herself letting down her guard.

However, Leng Le was not willing to admit that she was in love with Gu Fan. Given her past experiences, she felt it would take more than fleeting moments of happiness and warmth to touch her deeply. She knew Gu Fan was alert and any odd behavior would arouse his suspicion.

Hence, Leng Le chose to embrace and immerse herself in these feelings, deeply investing herself in her relationship with Gu Fan. This made everything appear real and reduced any chances of Gu Fan figuring out the truth.

Guided by Gu Fan, both of them arrived at a seaside amusement park for a day of unrestricted fun. From freefall rides, roller coasters to holding Leng Le’s hand, joyous laughter echoed around them as they let loose all their energy. They indulged in thrilling rides from dawn till dusk, forgetting all their concerns while their hearts throbbed with unending excitement.

At night, the two walked hand-in-hand to the beach to watch a fireworks display. As beautiful sparks filled the sky, Leng Le struck various poses for Gu Fan who happily clicked pictures of her. They even asked a passerby to take a picture of them together.

Together they made wishes and released a sky lantern. The sight of countless lanternts soaring into the sky, outshining the bright stars, stirred up a wave of excitement among the crowd. Everyone cheered in unison, pushing the ambiance to its peak.

At that very moment, as they stood, lost in their intimate banter, they noticed an unfriendly glare from a man nearby who seemed extremely hostile towards Leng Le. Leng Le noticed and frowned, deciding to ignore him and plan to leave with Gu Fan.

However, the man seemed relentless and caught up with them. He grabbed Leng Le’s arm and demanded loudly, "You’re that Sister Leng, aren’t you? My brother worked for you, and he’s been missing, what did you do to him?"

"Are you mad? I don’t know you," said Leng Le, trying to shake off the man’s grip, but he held on tight, making it hard for her to break free.

"Friend, there’s a better way to talk about this," said Gu Fan who didn’t quite understand what was going on but nobody had the rights to manhandle his girlfriend, so he caught hold of the man’s arm and forced him to let go.

But the man retorted rudely, "Back off! It’s none of your business."

"Sorry, but she’s my girlfriend." Gu Fan pulled Leng Le behind him, determined to protect her.

"I am telling you to stay out of it. If you don’t want to get beaten up then get lost." The man glared fiercely at Leng Le standing behind Gu Fan and warned her, "You won’t be able to hide forever. You owe me an explanation for my brother’s disappearance."

Leng Le stayed silent and gritted her teeth internally, trying to figure out who this man could be, and whom could he be referring to among her subordinates. Despite her attempts, she just couldn’t pinpoint which subordinate was causing the issue.

Leng Le was usually stringent while recruiting her subordinates, she only hired those who were left with no other options, deserted by friends and family, and harboring resentment towards society. Such people limited their interactions and wouldn’t carelessly expose secrets. Even if something were to happen, no one would question.

But the aggressive man before them seemed to know a thing or two about Leng Le’s identity, which infuriated her. It must have been some idiotic subordinate that leaked her photos. Perhaps sensing some sort of danger, that subordinate must have taken and sent some photos of Leng Le to his brother, hinting that she might be the reason if anything happened to him.

At that moment, a couple of friends joined the man. They seemed determined to force answers out of Leng Le.

Seeing their fierce demeanor, Gu Fan knew he couldn’t show any signs of weakness. He quickly realized that peaceful negotiations were off the table, and so, a fight ensued. With his skill, he landed a perfect combination punch on the man who approached him first, taking him down.

Despite this, the advantage of having more people allowed one man to tightly hold Gu Fan while another took the opportunity to throw punches at him, giving Gu Fan a taste of bitterness. The worst part was when the man that Gu Fan had previously knocked down managed to get back on his feet.

Observing the critical situation, Gu Fan lifted both feet off the ground and dealt a flying kick which directly hit two men.

Immediately after, Gu Fan sank his body, grabbed the shins of the man behind him, and made a powerful pull. As a result, he dislodged the man who was tightly holding him from behind, causing him to lose his balance. Seizing this opportunity, Gu Fan quickly broke free, turned around, and landed an elbow strike on the opponent’s temple, leaving him seeing stars.

However, Gu Fan didn’t have much time to rejoice as two other men mounted another attack, kicking him strongly and sending him flying, causing him to roll over several times on the ground.

"Gu Fan, are you alright?" Leng Le rushed over to check on him, but the opponents were relentless. Gu Fan had to get up quickly and pushed Leng Le aside, standing alone against the onslaught of three attackers.

They fought for a while, and although Gu Fan seemed to have a slight advantage, he was hurting all over and felt like giving up, like running away, but the opponents showed no signs of backing down.

At this point, the security guards arrived and quickly intervened, threatening, "If there is any more trouble, we will call the police."

Unexpectedly, one of the men not only showed no fear but also defiantly yelled, "Go ahead, call the police. I definitely want the police to properly investigate the disappearance of my brother."

Upon hearing this, even though Leng Le appeared calm on the surface, she felt unsettled inside. She didn’t know who he was referring to or if he had any evidence.

Finally, several security guards arrived and forcefully removed the men, which allowed Gu Fan a chance to breathe. He quickly sat on the sand, waving his aching arm around.

Who would have thought that such a fun day would end with such a dampener. Leng Le saw Gu Fan’s bruises and tried to massage them, but she only managed to hurt him more, so she quickly stopped.

Gu Fan couldn’t help but ask, "What just happened? Did you offend them in some way?"

In response, Leng Le shook her head, "I don’t recognize them. I have no idea what’s going on. As business people, we inevitably encounter conflicts of interest and many who make unreasonable demands for payment. Perhaps that man’s brother unsuccessfully tried to collect a debt from me and then met with some accident on his way back."

"I understand the difficulties of running a business, especially as a woman." Gu Fan did not give much thought to what happened behind him. He just wanted the incident to end quickly and most importantly, that both he and Leng Le are safe.

After a brief rest, Leng Le drove Gu Fan home. On the way, she asked if he had a driving license so he could drive in the future. After all, appearances matter, and it wouldn’t look good if a woman was driving while the man sat in the passenger seat.

Gu Fan appreciated Leng Le’s consideration. Truthfully, he didn’t have a driving license yet. He had planned on getting one, but too many things had happened since, so he hadn’t.

But now that things have calmed down, Gu Fan thought it was time to get his driving license. He dreamed of driving a car, taking a beautiful woman out for a ride. A sports car would be even better.

Late at night, after bidding each other goodbye, Leng Le watched as Gu Fan disappeared into his house then drove off, her face growing cold as frost. She immediately called Hai.

Woken up in the middle of the night, a sleepy Hai asked, "What’s up, Sister Leng? You wouldn’t be calling at this hour if it’s not an emergency."

Leng Le replied, "An emergency has happened. I was just attacked by a man claiming that his brother who worked for me has gone missing and hasn’t returned. I’m wondering if one of my subordinates might have let something slip."

Hearing this, Hai fully woke up, realizing the severity of the situation. After asking for more details about the incident and its location, Hai assured Leng Le that he would investigate the matter. He also stated that he would discipline his subordinates so they would know not to speak out of turn again.

"Hai, I have faith in you to handle this well. Also, let’s avoid alarming the boss about this incident. I need to concentrate on dealing with that kid for now, so I’m counting on you." Leng Le spoke with great caution, making clear their respective tasks and priorities.

However, Hai still felt that it was unlikely that Leng Le could use Gu Fan as her sole lead to find Lin Xi. This all-new Lin Xi probably wouldn’t care much about his past relationship with Gu Fan. He thought Leng Le was wasting her efforts getting close to Gu Fan.

Leng Le was nonchalant about this, saying it was just for fun. After ending the call, she stepped hard on the accelerator. The faster her car went, the worse her mood got. She did not like being on the defensive, feeling lucky that she had not aroused Gu Fan’s suspicion this time round.
