Chapter 147: The First Confrontation
Chapter 147: Chapter 147: The First Confrontation
Without wasting any time, Leng Le wanted Hai to stop Su Hui, so she could free her hands to deal with Gu Fan. Leng Le was confident her skills were enough to knock Gu Fan’s teeth out.
However, Su Hui went on the offensive, picking a fight with the towering Hai to test his skills and to confirm her earlier guess that he was the one they had encountered before.
And so, Leng Le and Gu Fan found themselves locked in a staring game. Dressed in a black tight-fitting leather outfit, with a ponytail, a face mask, and in dim light, Leng Le was unrecognizable to Gu Fan.
Leng Le didn’t want to bother with the niceties of asking him to surrender. She knew talking was useless, so she made her move instead, rushing forward and unleashing a series of swift and powerful Taekwondo kicks.
"Oh my god, she’s brutal," Gu Fan grunted, retreating hastily after blocking a kick that caused considerable pain.
Spotting an opening as Gu Fan stumbled back, Leng Le launched a flying assault, her knee smashing forward with great momentum. One look was enough to understand the strength behind her attack.
Gu Fan blocked Leng Le’s knee strike with his crossed arms, only to receive a solid elbow strike from her right on his cheek. Pain immediately shot through his face.
Rocked by the hit, Gu Fan was shaky and vulnerable. Seizing the opportunity, Leng Le threw another punch, not wasting any chances to inflict heavy damage on him.
Gu Fan managed to lay flat on the ground, trapping Leng Le’s leg between his own, and pulling it in tight. Leng Le wobbled, unable to maintain her balance and was about to topple over.
"Nice one, kid, but you’re still no match for me," Leng Le retorted, twisting her body and falling with Gu Fan, her elbow aimed right at him.
This spelled trouble for Gu Fan, who narrowly escaped the attack by rolling away. No sooner had he got up than he saw Leng Le’s kick coming his way. The kick sent him sprawling all over again, leaving him with a stabbing pain in his chest.
"Damn it hurts. This girl, while not as brutal as Sister Su, is no pushover," Gu Fan said through gritted teeth, as he got shakily to his feet clutching his chest. "Could you give me a moment to catch my breath?" he pleaded.
Leng Le gave no quarter, charging again. But Gu Fan, following the principle of not fighting women, turned and ran into the chaos, hoping to use the crowd as a shield against Leng Le.
However, Gu Fan quickly became the target of all, both Leng Le’s crew and the townsfolk wanted to catch him. No matter how he ran, they were always on his heels.
But Gu Fan picked his routes carefully, always running into areas where both parties were evenly matched. He wanted the two sides to wear each other out. He even deliberately caught the attention of the ogre, then lured it into the crowd.
"Damn kid." Leng Le chased him through the crowd, often encountering several obstacles in her way. If it weren’t for her subordinates blocking for her, she might have lost sight of Gu Fan.
Occasionally, Gu Fan would glance back at his situation, seeing the woman hot on his tail, it seemed she was genuinely after the key.
Consequently, Gu Fan made a decision to flip off Leng Le with his middle finger, which provoked her into accelerating her pursuit.
However, with more townsfolk around, they cornered both Gu Fan and Leng Le, hoping to use their superior numbers to overwhelm them. They could never have expected both Gu Fan and Leng Le to be such formidable fighters.
Leng Le managed to take down five people easily, and Gu Fan with a little more effort brought down three. Their respective prowess was clear, and Gu Fan knew he was no match for her, so he tried to run.
But he only managed a few steps before encountering more adversaries blocking his way. This left Gu Fan furious, and he fought his way through.
And so Leng Le managed to catch up with Gu Fan. First, she helped him clear off the nuisances in the way. Next, Leng Le began her assault on Gu Fan, starting with a beautiful combination of punches. Her attacks were fast and her steps seamless, controlling the rhythm of the offense.
Gu Fan managed to parry a few hits, but before he could retaliate, a punch landed square on his face. Staggering back, his head was ringing from the blow.
Leng Le saw Gu Fan was stunned by her attack, she charged again, grabbing Gu Fan’s hand that was tightly holding the key. With a tug, she used her weight to pull Gu Fan off balance.
One of Leng Le’s feet got Gu Fan by the chest, her other foot was aiming for his neck, ready for a Cross Lock. One twist and a roll from her would be enough to throw him on the ground and the Cross Lock would be completed.
Gu Fan felt a force making him dizzy. He went along with the dizziness and rolled his body so that after he had fallen, he used the momentum of the roll to turn over again, preventing Leng Le from locking him.
However, Leng Le’s limbs were still restraining Gu Fan. She did not believe that she could not subdue this green young man.
Gu Fan knew he could not fall to the ground, or else he would really be locked by the Cross Lock. His hand propped up on the ground, kneeling on one knee to keep balance, leaving Leng Le no way to strike.
"You brat, watch out!" Leng Le released Gu Fan’s arm and pulled back her legs, which delighted Gu Fan because he thought she had given up.
However, Leng Le quickly came at him again. Her feet sprung up, performing a scissor kick around Gu Fan’s head. Then, she spun her body and used the centrifugal force to violently fling Gu Fan away.
"Oh no!" The blow left Gu Fan stunned. He finally understood that his basic skills might work against ordinary people, but against an expert, he simply had to take it.
Unable to fight back, he really couldn’t. The best strategy out of the thirty-six was to escape. Gu Fan bit the bullet, got up and ran, but his head was so dizzy that he couldn’t even walk properly, let alone run fast.
Leng Le easily caught up with Gu Fan. She delivered a high kick to Gu Fan’s back, once again sending him flying.
Before Gu Fan could stand up, Leng Le lunged at him, her knee pressing down on Gu Fan. The impact was unbearable. She then delivered another blow to the back of Gu Fan’s head.
After several vicious blows, Gu Fan seemed to be at his limit. He was simply no match for Leng Le. Gradually, he seemed to pass out.
Leng Le was quite pleased with herself. After all, she did subdue Gu Fan easily, took the key from his hand, and again thought how simple it was. It was too easy, without any challenge. She thought Gu Fan could hold on a little longer.
Suddenly, Gu Fan sprung to his feet, nearly overturning Leng Le who was sitting on him unprepared. Her form was unsteady, and she could sense something wrong.
She turned around, and an elbow hit Leng Le right in the temple. The force was great, making Leng Le see stars.
"Bastard!" Losing her orientation, Leng Le waved her fists wildly in the hope of fending off Gu Fan. Once she regained her composure, she would thoroughly beat him.
Gu Fan directly hugged Leng Le from behind with his hands tightly clasping her. ***********************************************************

Similarly, Gu Fan knew that this wasn’t a viable long-term solution. This woman had lots of helpers, any one of which could disrupt this impasse. Therefore, Gu Fan had to figure out a way to change his combat method.

(The main idea is, under normal circumstances Gu Fan would not be able to beat Leng Le, so he changed his fighting style. After hugging Gu Fan, he throws her to the ground and then proceeds to pin her down continually)
Not wanting to deliver a deadly blow, Gu Fan took back the key from Leng Le and fled as quickly as he could. Leng Le lay there for a while completely unable to get up, her body aching all over. She resented Gu Fan for defeating her in such a way. It was totally outrageous.
"You rat, don’t ever fall into my hands, or you’ll regret it tremendously. Ouch, it hurts so much." Leng Le, feeling ashamed and angered. Not only was she upset and humiliated by her defeat, but she also felt she had been severely taken advantage of.
