Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared
Chapter 1421: The Terrifying Enemy Attack

Chapter 1421: Chapter 1421: The Terrifying Enemy Attack

The squad leader immediately picked up the walkie-talkie to report, informing the higher-ups that the communication equipment of the fourth squad had vanished. It was preliminarily judged that the enemy might have taken their communication gear and were eavesdropping on their tactical deployment.

"All troops, prepare and load your bullets," Gu Fan spoke unconsciously, while the others looked even more perplexed, wearing expressions that questioned why they should listen to him.

The squad leader said the same thing, and this time the others obediently complied.

According to the instructions from above, unless necessary, there was no need to communicate with each other using the communication equipment. Meanwhile, everyone was to search carefully.

Li’s hand holding the gun was slightly trembling. His fear grew, feeling that he would encounter this dangerous and terrible enemy, and he was even prepared to turn around and run away immediately if anything went amiss.

Suddenly, a rustling noise came from the treetops, and everyone looked up to see the branches shaking violently, as if something was running through the trees and getting closer.

"Holy shit, the enemy is here, run!" Someone shouted, and the courage of the already tense crowd collapsed, prompting them to scatter and flee in haste.

In the blink of an eye, the fifty-member team had completely disbanded, leaving Gu Fan standing there, stunned, wondering where they had found the strength to run so fast.

"What are you staring at, run!" Li, who was loyal, had run back and pulled Gu Fan to escape together.

At that moment, a vampire leaped down directly from the trees to the ground with a fierce landing, blocking Li and Gu Fan’s path. The vampire’s fierce expression showed he was very displeased, very angry.

Without waiting for the vampire to speak, Li and Gu Fan immediately took the hint and quickly retreated.

"Nobody runs, everyone come back here. What do you look like?" More vampires caught up with the fleeing men, using a fierce attitude to scold them all back into line.

The fifty men gathered again with their heads down, completely lacking the courage to meet the vampires’ gaze. Their cowardly behavior didn’t need to be reported to the higher-ups; the vampires could deal with these fifty men themselves.

The squad leader quickly explained, "Really sorry, we were terrified by the horrible state of the fourth squad, so..."

The vampire snorted coldly, "I don’t want to hear these excuses. You are people of Organization X; no situation is allowed to scare you, make you back down. If there is a next time, we will not be lenient."

The squad leader assured there would absolutely not be a next time. Moreover, now that the vampires had arrived, there was no longer any need to be afraid.

Now everyone had a bit more confidence; fifty regular soldiers plus ten vampires, even if they encountered that terrifying and vicious enemy, probably still had the strength to fight.

"Alright, move forward. You find the enemy, and we will take care of it," the vampires commanded with their arms crossed, adopting a superior posture.

At this point, everyone had no choice but to continue forward with gritted teeth. Even if they felt dissatisfaction or had complaints, they had to keep them to themselves.

Just then, noise came from the treetops again, the rustling sound unceasing.

Nobody gave it much thought, assuming it was still the vampires.

Suddenly, a scream startled and frightened everyone. They each looked up at the dense canopy of the ancient trees, breaking out in a cold sweat unwittingly.

A vampire fell from the tree, crashing to the ground with a wooden spike thrust through his heart, his body ash-colored, already dispatched.

"Who’s there?" the other vampires opened their mouths, revealing sharp fangs, and let out angry roars, their eyes turning completely black as they entered combat mode.

The squad leader immediately gave the command, and fifty guns were all aimed at the dense branches above. Then, at his signal, fifty guns fired at once, igniting a cacophony of gunfire as bullets whistled through the air.

Shoot, shoot, everyone shot frantically, as if only by doing so could they drive away the fear.

The ancient sky-reaching tree couldn’t withstand the insane barrage of bullets. Numerous leaves were knocked off and countless branches were snapped, all falling to the ground.

Gu Fan watched closely and noticed that only branches and leaves fell, without a drop of blood, making him realize that this was futile, a mere waste of bullets.

Gu Fan had wanted to remind everyone, but on second thoughts, who was he to be giving orders? Besides, the life and death of these helpers had nothing to do with him.

Nevertheless, Gu Fan still grabbed Li’s gun, giving him a look that suggested to save some ammunition.

"Enough, cease fire, we’re going in." The vampires exerted all their strength, pushed off with their feet, and soared skywards like arrows, diving into the thick foliage.

Everyone listened anxiously to the ancient sky-reaching tree; as the vampires charged into it, the branches trembled violently.

A scream, then another, each more unpleasant and piercing than the last, were so haunting that they made one’s skin crawl.

The angry roars of the vampires quickly died out, replaced by fearful wails.

"What should we do?" Many felt that the vampires weren’t faring well. They all looked to the squad leader with questioning eyes.

The squad leader was tense, his face filled with fear and hesitation. He too realized that things were looking dire; the vampires seemed to be losing. Now was the best chance to run, but if by some chance the vampires won, then the act of cowardice, the desertion in the face of the enemy, would surely not bode well.

A vampire fell from the treetop, not only with a wooden spike piercing its heart, but what was more shocking was that its body was thoroughly mangled, a clear indication that the enemy was overwhelmingly powerful.

As vampires fell one after another, crashing down before everyone, their dreadful state shattered all courage and any lingering hope.

Before the squad leader could order a retreat, they heard a vampire shout, "Retreat, let’s go."

If even the vampires were doing so, there was nothing to hesitate about. Everyone hurriedly ran.

Though everyone was exhausted from the long search, faced with this situation and driven by the instinct to survive, their speed didn’t decrease but instead seemed to increase; everyone desperately ran with all their might.

The screams and cries for help continued, the vampires apparently being hunted, with none able to escape.

"My God, what kind of monster is this, to kill vampires so easily?" Li, who had been through some experiences, remembered the last battle they fought in the town’s warehouse against the elites of Organization X, and it didn’t seem that those vampires were killed so easily.

Gu Fan didn’t think much, just ran for his life, hoping that once the monster had its fill of vampires, it wouldn’t be interested in mere mortals.

Soon, Gu Fan noticed something—the screams had stopped. It was likely that all the vampires were wiped out. Such speed, such efficiency—it was alarming. The enemy not only had great strength but also the speed to catch up with the fleeing vampires.
