Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared
Chapter 1362: The New Mission

Chapter 1362: Chapter 1362: The New Mission

Three days later, the East Nobles had yet to trouble Gu Fan, indicating that he hadn’t been exposed, so Catherine officially put Gu Fan to use.

When the bespectacled man, tall man, and muscleman learned that Gu Fan had officially joined Organization X and even became one of Catherine’s subordinates, they were all incredibly surprised. This was a goal many in Dark City strived for, yet Gu Fan had achieved it in just half a month.

"What exactly are you?" The bespectacled man looked at Gu Fan, feeling that although Gu Fan was slightly handsome, he seemed utterly ordinary otherwise. How could he have accomplished this?

The tall man suddenly realized something, "No wonder you dared to stir trouble in Dark City alone. I should have known someone like you must be extraordinary."

The muscleman was more straightforward, "Buddy, we were blind not to recognize your greatness before. From now on, if you have any advantages, please don’t forget about us."

Gu Fan hurried to discourage them, "Let’s not. We should help each other out. When I first arrived, if it wasn’t for your care, I couldn’t have survived this well."

Now, the bespectacled man, tall man, and muscleman saw Gu Fan in a new light and idolized him. They felt that Gu Fan’s arrival could bring them hope.

"I’ll leave the matters that follow to you guys." Gu Fan had already gathered the situation from the three men—that Su Hui, Lin Xi, Ouyang Jin, Lu Yi, and Irina were still in that small town, not acting rashly but waiting for a signal from Gu Fan.

The car had been modified and could now hide a person in a secret compartment, allowing for seamless infiltration.

The current situation was tricky. If Su Hui and the others didn’t leave, Organization X would surely become suspicious; but if they left, Gu Fan would truly be without support.

Gu Fan pondered the matter over and over, still unable to make a decision. The situation with Su Hui’s group could not be clearly communicated through a letter, and the state of affairs on Gu Fan’s end could not be effectively relayed to Su Hui.

Unable to think of a good solution, Gu Fan returned to his temporary residence to rest. But the moment he got there, he was immediately summoned by one of Catherine’s subordinates, claiming Catherine had a mission for him.

Gu Fan frowned, surprised that Catherine thought so highly of him. He had just officially joined her ranks, and now there was another mission.

Thus, Gu Fan went to meet Catherine and was, once again, momentarily stunned by her enchanting appearance and devilish figure.

However, Gu Fan possessed great discipline, and he quickly composed himself, presenting a respectful demeanor, "I’m not sure what matter Catherine has for me this time, but I am ready to go through fire and water to complete it."

"It’s nothing major, but it would be great if you could accomplish it." Catherine pressed a button on a remote control, and a screen beside her displayed a map—Dark City and its surroundings were clearly depicted.

Catherine pointed to a town on the map, the very town from which Gu Fan and the others had departed, giving Gu Fan an ominous feeling.

"Right now, Organization X has people watching that town. Do you know why?" Catherine’s question startled Gu Fan, making him wonder if this was some kind of test.

Gu Fan ventured a guess, "Could it be that there’s someone special in that town, or something special happening?"

Catherine snapped her fingers, "You got it. That town is home to a few special individuals, our number one enemies in Organization X right now. They’re quite a troublesome bunch."

"Well, then why doesn’t Organization X just wipe them out with its power?" Gu Fan had barely finished speaking when he saw Catherine looking distressed, "If that were possible, Organization X would have done so long ago. Those people aren’t easy to handle. We can only keep an eye on them."

Gu Fan was puzzled, "Then why did Catherine summon me? What does she want me to do?"

Catherine looked at Gu Fan with a serious gaze, "Because these individuals are difficult to handle, if we, the West Nobles, could eliminate them, it would be a great achievement."

Upon hearing this, Gu Fan’s heart skipped a beat, then he appeared troubled, "Catherine, you can’t be thinking of sending me to deal with them, can you? If even Organization X can’t handle them, how could I?"

To this, Catherine reassured him, "Don’t worry, I won’t send you to your death. I just need you to take a few pictures so that I can see who is causing Organization X such a headache."

"Don’t they have pictures of these people at Organization X?" Gu Fan frowned, thinking to himself, since he had encountered Organization X so many times, they must have his picture. If Catherine had seen a picture of Gu Fan, she should have recognized him immediately. Something wasn’t adding up.

Catherine shook her head, "Organization X does have their pictures, but they haven’t provided them to the Four Great Nobles. They don’t want us vying for merit and stirring up unnecessary trouble, or perhaps they don’t want us nobles to provoke these individuals."

With that explanation, Gu Fan understood. Perhaps the upper echelons of Organization X couldn’t make the Four Great Nobles entirely obedient, and to prevent them from acting independently, they didn’t share photographs with the nobles.

Gu Fan felt relieved—it was a good thing they hadn’t. Otherwise, the day he’d met Catherine, Dark City might have been thrown into chaos.

Now, Gu Fan realized why, after Xue Wang and Lord Xiong backed off, that Chris, that Xue Jun, still targeted him and his group. It seemed some disobedient nobles were really giving Xue Wang a headache.

No, perhaps Xue Wang had another layer of concern—he might have been worried that the nobles would foolishly provoke Gu Fan and his group and end up being slaughtered by them, creating an unmanageable situation.

Consider this: If Gu Fan killed a noble of Organization X, there’d surely be an uproar demanding vengeance, which even Xue Wang couldn’t suppress.

But Gu Fan had the Destiny Stone Body Guard. Organization X would likely fail to kill him, leading them to involve even more people in a more ferocious attack, inadvertently provoking a counterattack from Gu Fan, resulting in even greater losses.

Gu Fan now felt a bit of sympathy for Xue Wang, leading such a vast and unruly organization. It really was heart-wrenching, no wonder he needed Lord Xiong’s support, for Lord Xiong was Xue Wang’s strong ally.

"All right!" Gu Fan accepted the assignment, meaning he would, as a member of Organization X, have legitimate reasons to travel in and out of Dark City, returning to that small town to meet with Su Hui, Lin Xi, and the others to carefully plan their next move.

"Excellent, I need someone like you who dares to take risks," Catherine expressed her high expectations of Gu Fan.

Now, Catherine was eager to get her hands on the photographs of Gu Fan and his group, but if she knew that the man before her was Gu Fan himself, it was uncertain how she would react.
