Chapter 1351: Chapter 1351: Challenge, Meet the Challenge
Gu Fan couldn’t sleep all night, and he was restless all morning. Any slight noise outside, and he would immediately become alert, fearing that it really was someone from Organization X coming to find him.
But by the afternoon, Gu Fan felt more at ease and allowed himself to eat, drink, and sleep as usual.
The reason was simple—if the person who had infiltrated last night were really from Organization X and had discovered Gu Fan’s hidden mobile phone, then Organization X would have already taken action against Gu Fan.
Now, with no movement throughout the night and the morning, it was highly possible that last night’s intruder was not from Organization X.
After not sleeping well the entire night, Gu Fan couldn’t be bothered to think about who had actually sneaked into the house. He lay down on his bed, and as soon as he closed his eyes, he fell into a deep sleep, utterly exhausted.
When Gu Fan woke up, he discovered it was already dark, and the nightlife had begun.
After freshening up and regaining some of his composure, he left the house.
Naturally, before leaving, he had set up a few items whose purpose was to indicate whether anyone had sneaked in during his absence.
As the busiest spot in Dark City, Dark Avenue was always bustling with people at night, many of whom looked like bad news.
Gu Fan ordered a bottle of wine and, while drinking, pretended to immerse himself in the scene. But actually, his gaze kept unintentionally glancing towards the pitch-dark building—the Tower of Darkness.
Xue Wang and Lord Xiong were in the Tower of Darkness, overlooking Dark Avenue and observing all kinds of people from above, though the distance was too great for them to see what these people looked like or to take any interest.
As Gu Fan walked, he suddenly noticed people on the street moving hastily to the sides as if they were avoiding something.
No need to guess—it wasn’t a car; it was a noble? Gu Fan followed suit and hid to the side, blending into the crowd.
However, Gu Fan accidentally stepped on someone’s foot, and the person, clearly displeased, pushed Gu Fan.
"Damn!" Gu Fan stumbled back to his original spot and ended up right in front of a few men who looked like bodyguards.
Gu Fan quickly lowered his head and moved aside once more, only to hear someone say, "What a coincidence, you again?"
It was Catherine’s voice. Gu Fan’s heart trembled for a moment, then he turned around, scratched his head, and chuckled a few times, "Hello there, Lady Catherine."
Catherine coolly said, "Do you know what happens to those who block my way?"
"I didn’t block, I stepped aside as quickly as I could for you, see how obedient I am." Gu Fan felt a bit nervous inside, secretly hoping he wasn’t about to get into trouble now.
No, this was actually better. Gu Fan adopted a highly respectful manner, "Lady Catherine, I’m really glad to see you, and if possible, I’d like to become one of your subordinates, to serve you."
The bodyguards exhibited a look of disdain. Catherine smiled slightly, chose to ignore, and passed by Gu Fan indifferently.
Seeing the noble go, everyone sighed in relief. Gu Fan also let go of a huge burden in his heart. If last night’s infiltrator had been one of Catherine’s people and had discovered Gu Fan’s hidden mobile phone, they wouldn’t have let Gu Fan off as they had done just now.
As long as it wasn’t Organization X, Gu Fan quickly adjusted his mood and continued walking along Dark Avenue, yet he couldn’t help but look back at Catherine—one rarely saw such a bewitching woman.
As if sensing something, Catherine also looked back, and their eyes met.
Feeling guilty, Gu Fan quickly diverted his gaze and hastened his steps, leaving the place far behind.
Catherine saw Gu Fan running away in a panic and found it a bit funny. Was she really that terrifying, or was her presence that intimidating?
Gu Fan respected Catherine from a distance; he absolutely didn’t want to join Organization X, so he stayed as far away as possible.
At that moment, a few people started fighting in the street, a one-on-one that seemed quite fair.
The crowd around them watched with amusement, accustomed to street fights by now, some even wearing playful smiles. While one fight broke out here, another started over there.
Gu Fan took a sip of his drink and couldn’t help but sigh, "How boring must your lives be, without a fight, there’s no passion, is that it?"
Somehow, the people around Gu Fan began to consciously distance themselves from him, casting fearful glances his way.
"What’s wrong?" Gu Fan asked, puzzled. Suddenly, he sensed someone approaching from behind.
With his years of honed skill, Gu Fan surged forward with a quick pivot, neatly dodging a sneaky punch from behind.
Gu Fan swung back reflexively, only to realize mid-punch that his assailant was one of Catherine’s bodyguards.
"Damn!" Gu Fan’s punch was already in motion, but luckily the bodyguard wasn’t just there for show; he swept his arm and deflected Gu Fan’s punch.
The bodyguard smiled, seemingly pleased with Gu Fan’s reaction, then he launched a quick, precise, and powerful kick.
Gu Fan blocked the bodyguard’s kick with a palm, feeling uneasy, not understanding what the bodyguard’s intention was.
The bodyguard intensified his attack, launching fierce punches, each blow delivered without holding back.
Gu Fan defended desperately, dodging with nimble footwork, not getting hit even once.
"Now?" Gu Fan spotted a flaw as his opponent overly aggressed, and seized the bodyguard’s arm, planning to throw him over his shoulder.
However, the bodyguard’s knee pressed against Gu Fan’s back, keeping him from exerting force, effectively neutralizing the shoulder throw and even reversing it to wrap his arm around Gu Fan’s neck.
"What the hell do you want?" Gu Fan struggled to breathe, pondering whether to use full force to break free, fearing it might make the other suspicious of his true strength.
With no other option, Gu Fan resorted to a dirty trick: stepping on the bodyguard’s toes.
Caught off guard by the move, the bodyguard winced in pain but didn’t release his hold, instead tightening his grip on Gu Fan’s neck.
One stomp didn’t work, so Gu Fan stomped repeatedly, fiercely.
Not wanting to get stomped on again, the bodyguard moved his foot each time Gu Fan stomped—left foot moved when Gu Fan stomped left, right when stomped right.
In this way, the two hopped and skipped about, gradually turning their movements into a comical dance, making it difficult for the bodyguard to exert any force through his arm.
"Now!" Gu Fan broke free and counterattacked with a punch.
The bodyguard immediately moved to grab Gu Fan’s arm, resulting in their arms entwining mid-air, twisting together.
