Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared
Chapter 1341: Someone Next Door

Chapter 1341: Chapter 1341: Someone Next Door

Gu Fan had been in Dark City for three days, and for safety reasons, he hadn’t left his house. Being unfamiliar with the area and completely alone, if he were exposed, even with the Destiny Stone Body Guard to protect him, life would not be easy.

The house where Gu Fan was staying belonged to a friend of Glasses Man, who had sneaked out and was attacked by a bloodsucking creature, leaving the house vacant. Gu Fan could stay there for a long time without worrying about being disturbed.

Another point was that the house next door had also been vacant for a long time. It was said that the owner had followed Organization X to a forbidden area and had never returned.

The current living environment was quite ideal, albeit a bit boring. Gu Fan occasionally opened the window to look outside at the cloud-covered sky, thinking that Dark City was truly eerie with its continuous cloudy days.

Suddenly, sounds of objects falling to the floor came from the neighboring house, followed by footsteps, and it sounded like more than one person.

Gu Fan immediately became alert, closed the window, and carefully observed the neighboring house, wondering what was going on since it was supposed to have been empty for a long time. Could the information be wrong?

At that moment, Glasses Man entered the door and, seeing Gu Fan’s cautious demeanor, asked, "What’s wrong?"

Gu Fan made a silent gesture and then pointed at the house next door, the implication clear.

Glasses Man, appearing unconcerned, said, "What’s so strange about that? A house can’t stay vacant forever, and new inhabitants need to be arranged."

Hearing this, Gu Fan frowned, "So, you’re saying if new people come, they might be placed here too? Then wouldn’t I be discovered?"

Glasses Man shook his head, "The house you’re staying in is registered under my friend’s name, but Organization X doesn’t know he’s already had an accident, so according to Organization X’s records, this house has always been occupied, and they won’t assign new residents."

Gu Fan breathed a sigh of relief; he didn’t want to lose any sleep over this issue.

Glasses Man handed Gu Fan a map, "This is the map you asked for. It shows Dark City’s street routes and the distribution of all surveillance cameras."

"Alright, thank you!" Gu Fan took the map and glanced at it, noting the high number of surveillance cameras and thinking that completely avoiding them would be a bit impossible.

Glasses Man added, "We’re helping you because you’re friends with Ouyang Jin. Don’t get us implicated. If you’re discovered, you know what to say. After all, this house is registered under my friend’s name. If Organization X traces it back to my friend, it could lead to me."

"Don’t worry, I’ll handle it that way. I’ll say I moved in upon finding the house unoccupied," Gu Fan replied confidently, then added, "You should also prepare, find some witnesses to prove you haven’t been living here for a long time, so if I have to flee, Organization X will question you."

"Thank you for considering my situation!" Glasses Man seemed much reassured, then handed Gu Fan a bag, "This is a week’s worth of food. I hope when I come back, you haven’t starved to death."

Gu Fan smiled, took the bag, and looked inside to find just a small amount of rations.

So, Gu Fan grimaced, "Brother, I’m new here; could you spare a bit more?"

Glasses Man showed a troubled expression, "Resources here are limited. Water and food are more expensive than gold. It’s already hard to obtain some, even to share with you. You’ll just have to hope Ouyang Jin can secretly bring in more next time, or you’ll run out."

"Alright, I trust Ouyang Jin knows how to handle this," Gu Fan said, really missing Ouyang Jin at that moment, even if it meant paying a higher price, as long as the job was done well.

Gu Fan then asked, "Do you know if the surveillance in this area uses facial recognition?"

Glasses Man shook his head, "Actually, the various places know about the existence of Organization X and don’t like it, so many technologies are blocked from them, hence the surveillance in Dark City doesn’t employ facial recognition technology."

Relieved by this information, Gu Fan thought that it made sense since he hadn’t been detected on his first day in Dark City, indicating that the surveillance wasn’t using facial recognition. Even if Dark City’s surveillance had facial recognition technology, without Gu’s facial data in their database, it would be useless.

"Good, I’ll go out for a stroll tonight." Gu Fan said, looking at the map. He hadn’t dared to walk around before, firstly because he was unfamiliar with the area, secondly for fear of being discovered, and thirdly because he didn’t have a map.

In Gu Fan’s mind, without a map, if he encountered any trouble in Dark City, escape would be directionless and utterly disastrous.

"I don’t know what you’re here for, and I don’t want to pry. If you want to go out, go. But there’s one important thing: don’t recklessly provoke the people here, especially the X Family." Glasses Man elaborately explained the dominion the X Family held in Dark City, resembling nobility, with even vampires being mere slaves to them.

Gu Fan was aware of the X Family’s status, so he wasn’t surprised, but he was curious about hvordan to identify members of the X Family.

Glasses Man explained that if you see someone dressed very well, they’re most likely from the X Family. In plain terms, they were just wealthy and powerful individuals dressed more elegantly.

Gu Fan examined his own appearance, his clothes old and tattered, clearly marking him as someone from the lower echelons.

Then Gu Fan further inquired about various things, knowing the more he learned, the greater his chances of surviving here.

Glasses Man patiently answered all of Gu Fan’s questions, sharing everything he knew, hoping that Gu Fan would stay safe and sound here, so he wouldn’t have to worry daily about Organization X tracing Gu Fan, eventually leading to him.

"Thanks!" Gu Fan expressed his gratitude for the sufficient information.

"Be careful," Glasses Man cautioned a few more times, then hurriedly left the house. However, as he stepped outside, he noticed it had already turned dark.

Gu Fan looked around the house, noticing the scarcity of street lamps. The place was truly dilapidated and poor;if not for despair, nobody would choose to come here.

Just as Gu Fan was about to go out for a walk, sounds of something clashing came once again from the neighboring house, making him vigilant again.
