Chapter 1232: Chapter 1232: The Strongest Versus the Strongest

At the height of the battle in the Dark Primitive Mountain forest, the flames of combat soared into the sky, illuminating the darkness as conspicuously as fireworks. From a distance and from a high vantage point, they were clearly visible.

The residents of the towns near the Dark Primitive Mountain forest climbed to their rooftops, all watching the battle blaze, constantly praying for the United Army to emerge victorious.

The enigmatic man in the mask and Leng Le stood atop a twenty-story building, gazing into the distance. They were more worried about the battle than anyone because the outcome was crucial to their subsequent plans.

If successful, it would shatter the greatest obstacle to advancing on Dark City and further undermine Organization X. A failure, on the other hand, would mean that assembling such a military force could not be achieved again in the short term.

Several armed helicopters roared overhead while armored vehicles raced through the streets below. These were reinforcements, rushing to aid urgently.

Leng Le looked at all this with an air of indifference, "It seems those vampiric creatures are indeed too formidable. The United Army is likely facing annihilation, which means your plan can’t proceed."

"No, the United Army is merely a decoy to draw fire for me," the man with the mysterious mask said with a cold laugh, before adding, "Looking at the battle, it has been going on for two hours. The United Army is still fighting, which indicates something."

After careful thought, Leng Le said, "Under normal circumstances, the United Army wouldn’t operate at night. It must be that the vampiric creatures attacked their camp. It looks like a substantial number swooped in, leaving both sides locked in a fierce struggle."

The man with the mysterious mask nodded, "No matter how this battle ends, it has dragged on for so long that any victory now will be a Pyrrhic one. This is the perfect moment for us to move forward."

"You mean we move now?" Leng Le was surprised, feeling that heading to Dark City now was a bit premature.

But the man with the mysterious mask was resolute, "Right now, I believe most vampiric creatures have been drawn to the United Army, which means our path to Dark City will be unobstructed. That is exactly what I want."

Leng Le couldn’t help but laugh, quite self-satisfied, "Dark City has gold mines, and with both the threat of Organization X and Dark City itself, you fully leveraged these facts to persuade the nearby countries to unite and convinced various mercenary groups to join. You plan to thoroughly deal with Organization X, but you know all too well that just those vampiric creatures themselves are already an insurmountable barrier, let alone reaching under Dark City."

"Exactly, I need to get my people into Dark City. But we would surely be attacked by those vampiric creatures along the way, causing casualties among my men, which I do not wish to see. Hence, I can only use the United Army to alleviate the pressure to the greatest extent." After saying this, the man with the mysterious mask looked seriously at Leng Le, "The battle may continue for a while. Take your men and set out immediately."

"Alright, I’m on it," As Leng Le turned to fulfill the masked man’s directive, she froze, and a look of fright appeared in her eyes.

A tall and imposing figure also arrived at the rooftop of the twenty-story building. He had intended simply to get a better view from above but did not expect to encounter Leng Le and the mysterious masked man there.

"Boss... the big boss..." Leng Le grew panicked inside, for she had not anticipated meeting the most terrifying person in the world in this manner.

"Is that you, Leng Le?" The big boss frowned, sizing Leng Le up and noticing how she avoided eye contact, seemingly guilty of some dishonest deed. Then he demanded, "Why are you here?"

Struggling to explain, Leng Le became visibly restless, and even glanced back at the mysterious masked man.

The big boss also turned his attention to the masked man and asked indifferently, "Who is this person with the mask, hiding his face and showing his tail?"

"I don’t know," Leng Le answered weakly, and the big boss showed a disbelieving expression, "You don’t know, yet you stand beside this masked fellow."

"This..." In the midst of Leng Le’s fear, the mysterious masked man approached, glanced at Leng Le, then locked eyes with the big boss, his scornful gaze seemingly undervaluing the boss.

"Leng Le, go and carry out my orders. As for this place, I will deal with it," the masked man said with an authoritative tone that brooked no dissent, and Leng Le, obediently, quickly left the scene.

"Wait, Leng Le, you haven’t answered my question yet!" As the big boss moved to pursue, the mysterious masked man blocked his way, "She’s mine now, you have no right to command her to do anything."

"What, Leng Le is serving you now," the big boss was startled at first, then his expression darkened, "Fine, very well. If Leng Le switches allegiances, it’s a betrayal against me. She should know better than anyone else what happens to those who betray me."

Hearing this and still within earshot, Leng Le trembled inside, sensing a chilling murderous look.

Yet, the mysterious masked man seemed unfazed, "With me here, what do you have to worry about, Leng Le? As long as you work for me, I’ll ensure your safety. I won’t let anyone harm you, including this person you call the big boss."

Without looking back, Leng Le clenched her teeth and persisted forward, speeding away from the site, hopeful that her gamble had been the right one.

"Alright then, Leng Le, since you’ve made your choice, don’t blame me." The big boss’s murderous look intensified, his eyes filled with a murderous gleam.

Unflustered, the masked man folded his arms and firmly stood his ground in front of the big boss, calmly stating, "You’ve always been arrogant, believing yourself unbeatable. Today, I will shatter that confidence."

"Fine, let’s see what you’ve got," the big boss snorted coldly and charged forward with a burst of energy, his fist hurtling out fiercely, "With that mask, playing at being a ghost, reveal your true face to me."

"Just you try," the masked man retorted defiantly, precisely timing his punch to meet the big boss’s assault.

At that moment, Leng Yue had just reached the ground floor, rushing out of the building when she heard a thunderous rumble from behind.

Leng Le looked back with alarm, beholding a scene of dust billowing from the building’s windows. Through the glass, she glimpsed utter chaos inside as if something had plummeted from the rooftop, crashing through several floors on its way down.

The commotion drew the crowds nearby to ascertain the cause, while Leng Le hurriedly fled the area. She could imagine what events were about to unfold; soon, this place would become a battlefield between two frightening figures.
