Chapter 1187: Chapter 1187: A Very Special Girl
A good brother snorted coldly, "No choice, who made you betray the gang? Your betrayal of the gang is a betrayal of us, you were heartless, don’t blame us for being unrighteous."
Lin Yue laughed at himself, "I’ve said it, it wasn’t me, I did not betray the gang. I thought that after so many years of brotherhood, having shared life and death and looking after each other, you would trust me. I didn’t expect you wouldn’t give it a second thought and just labeled me a traitor."
The good brother indifferently threw a sentence out, "Sister Hong said the evidence is conclusive, she told us to take the person, so we take the person."
Lin Yue closed his eyes in pain, "After so many years as good brothers, it’s fine if you don’t trust me, but to treat me like this... Have you forgotten what Brother Jin said? We have to be united, we have to trust each other, and our survival until now has depended on unity and trust. Have you forgotten?"
In response, the good brother looked disdainful, "Does Lin Yue still not understand? Unity and trust are just means to survive using the strength of the team. Now that you’ve betrayed the gang, if we still stand by you, wouldn’t that be seeking death?"
Upon hearing this, Lin Yue was first startled, unable to believe that his old good brother would say such things. Then Lin Yue understood—this was the harsh reality. A bitter smile spread across his face.
Yes, the power of one person is too insignificant; hence, people unite to survive the brutal struggles within the gang. To put it plainly, the goal of unity is to ensure one’s own survival, not for the sake of their comrades.
People are always selfish, and now Lin Yue understood that so-called brothers who shared life and death were nothing more than that. What a joke that he, once, after a falling out with his parents, actually felt that his parents were nothing compared to these so-called brothers he fought alongside.
"Thank you all for letting me see your true faces," Lin Yue stood up, started to limber up and added, "Since the rest of the gang hasn’t arrived, I might as well deal with you all first." Having said that, Lin Yue charged over, using his well-practiced martial skills and fighting fiercely, he left the group with black eyes and swollen faces, crying for their parents.
Under the tutelage of a hunter for so long, Lin Yue’s skills were not something the average person could match. Taking on five or six gang underlings was a piece of cake, but facing a large group, even Lin Yue wasn’t confident.
Now, people from the gang poured in from the front gate and the rear, and though the park was huge, with the gang’s numerous and powerful members, finding Lin Yue was only a matter of time.
Previously, Lin Yue had been chased relentlessly, so no matter where he ran, the gang was informed and could catch up.
Lin Yue’s thought was to find a large area, where cars couldn’t enter, so that those setting the ambush couldn’t quickly come to assist. Thus, he could take the time to deal with those pursuing him first.
The first step was already complete. Now for the second step, if Lin Yue could just escape from the park and stay out of the gang members’ sight for even five minutes, he could safely get away.
However, the gang had split up into several groups, scouring every corner of the park, with people blocking the entrances, and watchers on the surrounding walls. Even with wings, you, Lin Yue, would find it difficult to fly away.
Lin Yue had hardly taken a few steps before he saw the shadows of gang members moving ahead, which scared him into hastily backing up, his heart racing.
Suddenly, as Lin Yue retreated, he bumped into someone and even stepped on their foot, then he heard a complaining voice, "Who is it? Can’t you see where you’re going?"
Lin Yue wanted to apologize; turning around, he was astounded to see Gu Ling’s beautiful and ethereal face, and he froze on the spot.
"You’re Sister Lin Xi’s brother?" Gu Ling also seemed very surprised, and then she took off her headphones, looking at Lin Yue with a lot of interest.
Lin Yue also said, "You’re Gu Fan’s sister, we’ve met once before."
"Really? I didn’t expect to run into you here, you seem to be sweating a lot?" Gu Ling noticed Lin Yue’s tense appearance, then she saw a few menacing figures patrolling something on a nearby road crowded with people going to and fro.
Gu Ling realized something must have happened to Lin Yue; just as she was about to say something, Lin Yue was in a hurry to leave.
"Wait a minute!" Gu Ling suddenly grabbed Lin Yue’s hand, and then said with a smile, "Just follow me."
"What?" Lin Yue hadn’t even begun to understand what was happening when he was pulled by Gu Ling, and they were heading straight towards the road where the enemies had appeared. Suddenly, Lin Yue became anxious. He could have fought his way through alone, but now that he had dragged Gu Ling into this, if she got hurt, how would he explain it to his future brother-in-law?
But Gu Ling just said, "Don’t be afraid, I’m here, right?"
Lin Yue was baffled; that was what he was supposed to say. He was the one who was supposed to protect Gu Ling, so why did it feel like he was the one being protected by her now?
They were on the brink of being discovered by the gang members when suddenly a tour group came through, blocking the gang’s line of sight. Gu Ling pulled Lin Yue down and they crouched, using the tour group to bypass the area.
They weren’t discovered, which made Lin Yue, who had been extremely tense, feel incredibly relieved and fortunate.
However, the things that happened next made Lin Yue feel that it wasn’t just luck; Gu Ling seemed to have some kind of premonition, knowing which roads not to take, recognizing which ones were dangerous. In short, Lin Yue wasn’t discovered by the gang members as long as he followed Gu Ling.
"This..." Lin Yue was a bit incredulous. He looked at Gu Ling, still holding his arm; in this dangerous environment, he felt something unusual.
Suddenly, gang members appeared in front, but they didn’t notice Gu Ling and Lin Yue. As Gu Ling ducked next to a large tree, she let go of Lin Yue’s arm. In a rush, she quickly grabbed Lin Yue’s hand and pulled him over.
Gu Ling carefully checked the surroundings, paying no attention to the fact that they were holding hands. For Lin Yue, because of this grip, his mind wandered—her hand was so soft.
Then, Gu Ling watched the gang members search the restroom, and she directly led Lin Yue past them, still unnoticed.
Lin Yue admired Gu Ling even more, feeling that this was beyond luck. Although things had gone smoothly so far, the danger wouldn’t be over until they left the park. With gang members at both the front and back gates, walking out through the gates was practically impossible.
However, the situation took another unexpected turn. Something happened at the back gate, and the gang’s hostile demeanor drew the attention of passing police officers, who then took them aside for questioning.
Gu Ling, as if she could foresee events, led Lin Yue in a jog, and they simply walked out the back gate, leaving Lin Yue in disbelief at how easy it was.
