Chapter 1186: The Final Break

Chapter 1186: Chapter 1186: The Final Break

Chris hurriedly intervened, "Your brother has only run off temporarily, we will catch him soon. Please calm down and wait a bit longer."

"Alright, I’ll give you a little more time." Lin Xi, with an utterly bored expression, surprised Sister Hong. Thus, Sister Hong pulled Chris aside to inquire who Lin Xi really was and why she wasn’t scared at all.

To this, Chris urged Sister Hong not to pry, arguing that the less she knew, the better.

Meanwhile, on Lin Yue’s path of escape, he dared not to take the main streets, fearing being spotted by the gang members.

He was also baffled; he was just doing his job when suddenly, the gang members appeared, claiming Sister Hong had ordered Lin Yue’s capture. The reason was suspicion of colluding with Su Hui to provide the police with information and intercept the gang’s shipment.

However, by the looks on their faces, a picture of schadenfreude, he recognized some as those who had issues with him, fearing they could fabricate a crime whenever they wished.

After reflecting on it, Lin Yue decided he couldn’t fall into these people’s hands; otherwise, he would be controlled and unable to do anything. Thus, Lin Yue fiercely resisted and, using his exceptional skill, managed to bring down these men before making his escape.

Now, Lin Yue was hiding in a close brother’s house, feeling uneasy. He wanted to call Sister Hong multiple times but held back since it was her men who tried to catch him, meaning Sister Hong also suspected him. Nothing he’d say would help.

"What should I do, how did I inexplicably become a betrayer of the gang?" Lin Yue knew this was definitely a misunderstanding, but how to clear it up, and more importantly, how did the gang find out he knew Su Hui?

If the person leading the team intercepting the gang’s shipment wasn’t Su Hui, everything would have been much simpler. Lin Yue knew he was beyond defense; even he, were he Sister Hong, wouldn’t believe himself, "You knew policewoman Su Hui yet never mentioned it to the gang, what are your true intentions?"

Feeling utterly helpless, Lin Yue, harboring a flicker of hope, sent Sister Hong a message explaining he hadn’t betrayed the gang. Although he knew Su Hui, he had never disclosed any gang-related information to her.

Lin Yue was hoping for Sister Hong’s trust, even a shred of it, which might lead to a turnaround.

Suddenly, Lin Yue heard the sound of cars stopping downstairs. He immediately went to the window and saw several vans parked below; the gang members had found him.

Lin Yue was shocked; how could the gang know he was staying at his close brother’s place? Could it be...

The situation was bad, Lin Yue had to leave quickly, only to find the door was dead-bolted, chilling his heart. He was certain his close brother had betrayed him.

"Damn it!" Lin Yue was quite familiar with his brother’s home and knew where the tools were. He immediately grabbed them and dismounted the security bars.

Just as the door opened, the gang members rushed in. Lin Yue, without thinking twice, threw a potted plant that was sitting on the windowsill, hitting one in the head, leaving him screaming in blood and agony.

Lin Yue climbed out the window and used everything he could to climb sideways because just beyond that wall, he could momentarily escape the gang’s pursuit.

To prevent Lin Yue from escaping, the gang had already arranged people downstairs. Seeing Lin Yue heading towards the wall next to the building, they guessed his intent. They too tried to climb the wall, but it was too high and they were not skilled at climbing.

As Lin Yue was about to jump over the wall, the gang members started to cooperate. Three men lifted one up, giving him a chance to get over the wall.

However, after Lin Yue jumped onto the wall, he directly kicked down the person who had barely managed to climb up, infuriating the gang members who erupted in curses.

At this very moment, the one who wanted to curse the most was Lin Yue himself. He had been betrayed by his own close brothers, and in the team chasing him, there were several other "brothers" he used to depend on; all had switched sides when it mattered most.

The gang quickly found a solution. They drove a car over, planning to use the height of the vehicle to help them get over the high wall.

Lin Yue also made use of the time, jumping to the other side of the high wall, and then quickly fled. He had only run a short distance when he heard the noisy commotion from behind. He didn’t expect the gang members to have gotten over the wall so quickly and continued to pursue him swearing all the way.

Lin Yue ran ahead while the gang members followed closely behind, also informing others of Lin Yue’s direction to intercept him from the front.

"You think I don’t know?" Having spent some time in the gang, Lin Yue knew their tactics well. He decided it was time for a battle of wits. He then picked up his phone’s map to anticipate where the gang members were most likely to block his path.

Just as Lin Yue had predicted, the gang members had set up an ambush at the front entrance. However, Lin Yue didn’t charge towards it but instead abruptly turned into a residential area, using it to cut through to another street.

The gang relentlessly pursued him, at the same time updating others on Lin Yue’s movements, urging them to quickly circle around for an interception.

"It’s just like you, Lin Yue, knowing how we would catch you, so you’re very alert. But it’s useless. We have more people. The intercepting group can split into several squads, and with vehicles, you simply can’t outlast us in terms of stamina," the gang members coldly laughed, watching Lin Yue’s attempt to escape as if he was engaged in a desperate struggle.

When Lin Yue crossed through the residential area and reached another street, he saw the gang’s vehicles following. Realizing he could never outrun the vehicles with just his legs, he thought it best to conserve his energy.

Calmly, Lin Yue walked to a park across the street, so the gang members thought he was planning to cut through the park to reach another road. They immediately sent people to the park’s back gate to block him.

However, Lin Yue did not do that. He found a large grassy area in the park and sat down to rest properly.

The gang members thought Lin Yue had given up, secretly rejoicing. They weren’t in a rush to catch up since they were quite tired from the chase.

This suited their plans even better. If Lin Yue wasn’t running, it gave the gang a chance to encircle him. This way, even if Lin Yue grew wings, he wouldn’t be able to escape.

Soon, more gang members arrived at the scene, blocking both the front and rear entrances of the park. They all carried weapons, looking menacingly ferocious.

The ones who had followed Lin Yue to the park’s grassy area knew the reinforcements had arrived and smirked, "You can’t run away, Lin Yue. Just surrender quietly. Considering many years of brotherhood, we might spare you some pain."

Hearing this, Lin Yue displayed a look of contempt, "After all these years as brothers, you betray me just like that. What kind of brothers are you?"
