Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared -
Chapter 1151: Recognizing the Same Person
Chapter 1151: Chapter 1151: Recognizing the Same Person
Gu Fan and his group, along with Irina’s group, were escaping deeper into the forest. According to Gu Fan, they should get as far away from the coastline as possible. If he were Organization X, having realized Irina’s intention to retreat by sea, he would definitely send people to search along the coastline.
Irina’s team had arrived with forty-five people, divided into three squads of ten each, plus another ten stationed on the highway and five assigned to pilot the boats.
Now, with two squads wiped out and little hope for the boat crew, only seven people remained with Irina. It could be said that the Hunter’s Guild had suffered heavy casualties this time.
These were battle-hardened elites of the Hunter’s Guild. Paying such a price without obtaining anything useful from Gu Fan left Irina somewhat unwilling to accept the outcome. Turning to glance at Gu Fan, she noticed that two people were missing from his party.
Sensing something was amiss, Irina hurriedly asked, "Strange, where are your girlfriend and your mother?"
"They’re just wandering around; you don’t need to worry about them," Gu Fan answered nonchalantly. He had no intention of telling Irina the truth, which was that Lin Xi, capable of using magic to fly, had already taken Mei Fang and left first.
What Gu Fan really wanted was to get his parents to safety. Then, if he encountered any danger later, he wouldn’t need to worry about them and could fight without hesitation. However, to conserve Lin Xi’s supernatural power and stamina, she had only taken one of his parents first.
Hypothetically, if Lin Xi were to leave with both of Gu Fan’s parents, flying with two people, not to mention the consumption of supernatural power and stamina, it would be difficult to respond if they encountered trouble mid-flight, especially since they were in enemy territory.
Irina frowned. She did not believe Gu Fan’s excuse, as she had seen Lin Xi descend from the sky and suspected something.
Thus Irina expressed her dissatisfaction, "We’ve suffered so much to rescue you. You wouldn’t be so heartless as to leave us behind."
Gu Fan smiled faintly, "Firstly, I didn’t ask you to come rescue me. Secondly, I don’t believe you would help me without a reason. Unless you tell me your true purpose, I will always be wary of you. Every time I think of you pointing guns at me, I find it difficult to be grateful."
"Kid, you sure hold a grudge," Irina said through clenched teeth, then added, "As I’ve already told you, we are from the Hunter’s Guild, and our purpose for seeking you has been made very clear."
"Is that really the case?" Now at an advantage, Gu Fan began to probe the truth behind her words.
Irina, seeing Gu Fan’s wary demeanor, knew it would be hard to gain his trust. She could only say, "Rest assured, we only target Organization X; we won’t trouble ordinary people. Everyone has their secrets and you can’t force us to reveal ours. That would only harm our relationship. You just need to understand one thing – we have no malicious intent. And shouldn’t you admire someone who dares to confront Organization X?"
Gu Fan, considering the level of courage required to stand against Organization X, thought, "You speak as if you truly represent justice?" Maybe it was possible to try trusting them.
Then, Irina shot back with a question, "Can you now tell me exactly who you are? Your girlfriend can fly and knows magic, and it seems you understand that ancient martial arts, able to fight such a powerful vampire for so long."
"Haha, you’ve said it yourself; each person has their secrets, and you can’t force someone to reveal them," Gu Fan retorted, which made Irina so angry she nearly rolled her eyes.
Having no other option, Irina continued to reason with great conviction, "As it stands, our enemy is Organization X. You’ve seen their strength. Only by joining forces could we possibly win. So, if you know something about Organization X, you must tell me."
"Join forces?" Gu Fan seriously considered the proposal. Right now, he indeed needed some help. Maybe he could truly try to trust these people.
Suddenly, Gu Fan thought of something, "I remember you mentioned that Jian Shen’s disciple was once the strongest hunter in your guild, but later he left. I want to know why."
This question was crucial for Gu Fan to evaluate whether to cooperate or not.
Irina frowned, looking troubled, as if the departure of Jian Shen’s disciple was a matter she couldn’t easily discuss.
Gu Fan did not dwell on this issue but walked past Irina and dialed Lin Xi to find out what her situation was like.
Lin Xi was having better luck. She led Mei Fang safely to the meeting point without incident. Gu Ling and Lu Yi had been waiting there for a long time.
Gu Ling snatched the phone from Lin Xi, "Brother, how are things on your end? Do you need help? I’ve just learned a magic spell that can invigorate severely injured people to keep fighting."
Hearing this, Gu Fan chuckled, "Xiaoling, I appreciate your kindness, but you better take good care of Mother. Remember, if anything goes wrong, run immediately."
"Do you even need to mention my sensing ability?" Gu Ling was confident in this aspect.
At this point, Lu Yi couldn’t resist any longer and snatched the phone, wanting to say something, only to be hung up on by Gu Fan. This left Lu Yi quite frustrated, not understanding why Gu Fan would hang up on him.
Su Hui came over, seeing Gu Fan sigh with relief, and asked, "What’s wrong? You look like you just had a narrow escape from death."
"I hung up before Lu Yi could speak, to prevent his doomsayer mouth from jinxing us," said Gu Fan, still somewhat scared of the prospect.
Upon hearing this, Su Hui couldn’t help but laugh, "Haha, look how scared you are. Now everyone fears him yet can’t do without him."
"Enough laughing, let’s keep moving. The enemy could catch up at any moment," Gu Fan suggested and continued moving forward. His conversation with Su Hui had been overheard by Irina, especially the two words "Lu Yi"?
Someone walked up to Irina and whispered, "The ’Lu Yi’ they mentioned, is it the same person we know of?"
Irina couldn’t be sure either, "With so many people sharing the same name and surname nowadays, it might just be a coincidence. But that Lu Yi is quite unique, and so are these people. Perhaps they really do know each other; yet, there are so few unique individuals in the world, how could they come together?"
The companion voiced concern, "If we were to move against Lu Yi, it would mean declaring war on these people. The previous idea of joining forces to face Organization X might be impossible."
"Let’s try to win their understanding," Irina said impassively. "We hope they will cooperate, after all, we are all fighting the same enemy."
