Chapter 1139: Chapter 1139 The First Meeting

A small squad from the Hunter’s Guild was fast-walking in the dark forest, racing against time with the vampires. However, the problem was that the area was so large, the forest so vast, and there were mountains and rivers, not to mention it was close to the sea; the terrain could definitely be called complex, making it no easy task to find one person.

"Be optimistic," Irina said, "It’s only because the terrain is so complex that the person has a chance to hold out longer."

Her companions felt Irina made sense, but someone raised a concern, "Even if that kid can escape from a group of vampires chasing him, this time the two most powerful figures in Organization X are in charge. Once they make a move, there’s no chance the kid could escape."

Another teammate agreed with the sentiment, "By then, it might be us who get wiped out."

Irina tried to boost morale, "Look on the bright side again. Over the years, we’ve been searching for a chance to assassinate the two most powerful figures in Organization X, but we couldn’t find one. Unexpectedly, in this city, in this place, we actually stumbled upon the opportunity."

A companion shook his head and sighed, "Captain, you really are an optimist. Right now, we don’t have a successor to Jian Shen, and it’s the enemy’s turf. Our chance of winning seems slim."

At the mention of a successor to Jian Shen, Irina became lost in thought. It was her heartache. She had tried to get the person to rejoin the team several times, but he had refused, as if there was nothing left for him to linger for.

Seeing Irina’s despondent look, some teammates were puzzled, "This is really strange. Why does Irina get that look every time we mention the heir of Jian Shen? Does he owe her a lot of money?"

"Are you dumb? Can’t you see it? It’s unrequited love."

"Oh, does Irina have feelings for the heir of Jian Shen ..."

Just then, there was a rustling in the dark forest, putting everyone on high alert, and Irina was especially tense, pointing her gun in that direction.

Suddenly, a figure darted out from the forest, followed by another who lunged out.

Gu Fan felt a vampire closing in on him from behind. With a swift shoulder throw, he took the vampire down and then dealt with it using a wooden stake.

Seeing this, Irina and her teammates were first startled, and then, looking back at Gu Fan covered in blood and noting his precise movements in killing the vampire, they knew he was no ordinary person.

"Damn, someone from Organization X!" Gu Fan panicked in his mind. Having just fought his way out, his strength had reached its limit, and now there was another group of enemies.

Unaware of Gu Fan’s identity, Irina and her teammates immediately aimed their guns at him and shouted, "Don’t move! Who are you?"

Hearing this, Gu Fan was puzzled, "Don’t you know me? Aren’t you from Organization X here to catch me?"

"We’re not from Organization X. Could it be that you are the one?" Just as Irina was surprised, sounds of movement came from the forest again, and several more vampires pounced out.

The remaining six vampires saw new faces appearing before them and grew nervous, wondering who these people were.

The undercover vampire recognized Irina at a glance, and Irina, having seen the undercover vampire, instantly knew who the enemy was.

Without a word, the undercover vampire acted first, holding two wooden stakes, and launched a sneak attack from the rear, thrusting them straight into the hearts of two vampires.

"Hey, what are you doing!" The remaining three vampires were horrified, then they heard a series of sharp whistling sounds,

Irina and her companions, wielding crossbows, shot three wooden arrows directly into the vampires’ hearts, suddenly, cleanly, and efficiently.

Five vampires were taken care of in an instant, leaving Gu Fan dumbfounded about the origins of the group before him.

Irina glanced at Gu Fan, then confirmed with the undercover vampire, "Is it this person?"

The undercover vampire nodded, "That’s right, it’s him."

Gu Fan frowned, realizing that these people had come for him. It was still unclear whether they were friends or foes, but for the moment, they might be of some help to him.

Irina walked over, her beautiful face and tall figure certainly possessed a strong attraction for men, but at this moment, Gu Fan was wary and entirely without such thoughts.

Irina smiled amiably, "Hello, nice to meet you for the first time. We are not from Organization X, you can be assured of that."

Gu Fan breathed a sigh of relief, "It’s best if you’re not from Organization X. Right now, anyone who isn’t from Organization X would make me happy."

"May I ask your name?" Irina started the interrogation, wanting to know the identity of the person who was so important to Organization X.

But Gu Fan refused to reveal it, "Sorry, I don’t know your identities yet. It’s better if you introduce yourselves first."

Upon hearing this, Irina’s teammates were displeased, "Kid, you need to understand the situation, we just saved you."

To that, Gu Fan was indifferent, "I never asked you to save me, so it’s best if you don’t force me to be grateful."

"You little punk, if you want to leave here with us, you’d better cooperate nicely," some teammates showed an unfriendly demeanor, but Gu Fan looked unconcerned, "Sorry, I have no intention of following you. We can just go our separate ways."

A few faces darkened, "Damn kid, you better think this through. If it wasn’t for us just now, you would be finished."

"Alright then, thanks for that. We can talk about repaying you later. If there’s nothing else, I’m leaving." Gu Fan said, looking truly ready to depart.

Irina frowned, "Kid, if you want to get out of here, you need our help."

"No, I don’t think I do." Gu Fan was calm and unruffled, not at all ready to comply as Irina had anticipated.

According to past experience, a person in this situation, having been pursued, would be distraught and desperate. Upon seeing a glimmer of hope, they would certainly do whatever was asked. Why was this guy not playing by the rules?

Irina thought, "Could this kid have some other reliance?"

As Gu Fan made to leave, Irina’s teammates drew their weapons and aimed, their stern expressions making it clear they were not allowing Gu Fan to go. This made Gu Fan even more suspicious of whether this group had good intentions.

Just at that moment, the walkie-talkie in the vampire’s hand rang out, "Hey, have you caught that kid? Respond, quickly."

Gu Fan looked at the undercover vampire, who also knew what to do, and thus picked up the walkie-talkie to reply, "Reporting to Xue Wang, we’ve caught the kid and will bring him back shortly."

"Good work. I’ll record your great achievement. I’m waiting for you," Xue Wang was very satisfied, then the call ended.
