Chapter 1092: The Threat from Beyond

Chapter 1092: Chapter 1092: The Threat from Beyond

At that moment, Lin Yue returned to his place, undressing while turning on the lights, only to be greeted by the sight of Lin Xi sitting on the sofa with her arms crossed and legs propped up, as if she had been waiting for a long time.

Lin Yue was so frightened he nearly jumped out of his skin. He patted his heart and then grimaced, saying, "Sis, you could have at least given me a heads-up. You’re trying to scare me to death."

"My goodness, you’re such a scaredy-cat, but you seem pretty brave when you’re fighting," Lin Xi mocked, causing Lin Yue to feel embarrassed, so he explained, "Sis, it’s like this, fights are common in the gang I’m with, and I’ve already been holding back as much as I can."

"Yeah, you’ve been arrested and locked up for several days. Mom and Dad wanted to visit your place to check on you. If it weren’t for me stopping them, they would have known by now." Lin Xi’s words made it clear that she was on Lin Yue’s side.

Lin Yue was greatly relieved, and he immediately moved closer to Lin Xi to give her a back massage, "Sis, I knew you were the best to me. Don’t worry, I absolutely won’t cause any trouble. You’re overlooking a minor’s mistake this time."

"Really?" Lin Xi looked skeptical, putting Lin Yue on the spot because he had just been out fighting with Sister Hong.

Suddenly, Lin Xi realized something and started to sniff around Lin Yue, her face turning pale as she detected the scent of blood. It was faint, but Lin Xi had a keen nose.

Panic crossed Lin Yue’s face; he had changed clothes in the underground entertainment world, but there was still a scent remaining.

"What have you been doing tonight?" Lin Xi squinted her eyes in interrogation, making Lin Yue very nervous, "I was just working diligently at my job, behaving myself."

"Really!" Lin Xi still looked doubtful.

Lin Yue could only nod stiffly and then silently prayed, hoping Lin Xi wouldn’t think further, as that could lead to trouble.

Suddenly, Lin Xi smiled, "Alright, I won’t pry any further. As long as you’re okay, I won’t ask more of you."

Hearing this, Lin Yue let out a sigh of relief, feeling like he might have just gotten out of trouble.

Lin Xi smiled slightly, her gaze full of intrigue as she looked at Lin Yue, making him a bit scared, "Sis, why are you looking at me like that?"

"Little brother, I want to ask if you have a girlfriend." Lin Xi’s sudden question left Lin Yue baffled.

"I..." Just as Lin Yue was about to answer, Lin Xi spoke up, "If you don’t, let me introduce you to someone. Although I don’t know your type, my judgment in people isn’t bad. I guarantee you’d be satisfied, plus I know the type of girl our parents would like. I will definitely find a suitable bride for our Lin Family."

"Thanks, Sis, I appreciate your concern," Lin Yue felt compelled to accept Lin Xi’s kindness, albeit begrudgingly.

Since it was getting late, Lin Xi then went back.

As Lin Yue watched Lin Xi’s departing figure, he wanted to tell her something multiple times. That was he already had Sister Hong as a girlfriend, so there was no need for Lin Xi to worry about that anymore.

Then Lin Yue never spoke, first because Sister Hong’s actions left him feeling somewhat scared, and second because Lin Xi had mentioned helping the Lin Family find a satisfactory daughter-in-law, and Sister Hong certainly did not meet this standard.

The more Lin Yue thought about it, the stranger he felt, as if Lin Xi had specifically come to talk about introducing a girlfriend, and even emphasized what kind of person the parents liked, seemingly reminding Lin Yue that he and Sister Hong were not suitable.

Shaking his head, Lin Yue felt he was overthinking it, Lin Xi couldn’t possibly know about his affair with Sister Hong. Yet, Lin Yue still felt Lin Xi’s sudden visit was suspicious.

After the clash last night, and dealing with the aftermath during the day, Lin Yue hadn’t slept in nearly twenty-four hours and was incredibly tired, he decided to get some rest.

But Lin Yue had only been asleep for five hours, and it was still dark outside, when his phone started ringing, so he opened his bleary eyes to see that it was Sister Hong calling.

At this hour, something serious must have happened, Lin Yue quickly answered, only to hear Sister Hong’s anxious voice, "Lin Yue, there’s trouble, I need you to come immediately."

"Alright, I’ll come right away." Lin Yue jumped out of bed, hastily dressed, and left the house. His mind was uneasy, wasn’t everything settled with Boss Hong? What could have gone wrong now? Perhaps Boss Hong’s subordinates were unwilling to follow orders and were seizing the opportunity to start their own faction.

When Lin Yue returned to the underground entertainment world, he found that most people had already gathered, including some of Boss Hong’s old subordinates, who seemed to have switched allegiance to Sister Hong.

Lin Yue asked around to find out why Sister Hong had urgently summoned everyone.

Boss Hong had fallen, and Boss Hong’s territory was supposed to be divided between Sister Hong and another gang. However, the other gangs, coveting the territory, had come with their men to forcibly take a share, even seizing it by force.

Some of Boss Hong’s subordinates had either fled, joined other gangs, or established their own factions; now, many gangs had mobilized around Boss Hong’s territory.

At the moment, not only had Sister Hong failed to secure any territory, but other gangs seemed intent on taking over the underground entertainment world, even sending messengers demanding Sister Hong’s allegiance.

Sister Hong had finally managed to overthrow Boss Hong and take charge herself; how could she possibly be happy playing second fiddle? But the problem was her lack of strength and insufficient manpower, that’s why Sister Hong had urgently gathered everyone to discuss the matter.

At this, everyone was at a loss for a good solution, while Lin Yue pretended to be thinking; inwardly, he hoped the two sides would come to blows, resulting in Sister Hong’s defeat, which would dissolve the gang and free Lin Yue from the gang life.

From the looks of it, just holding on to the underground entertainment world would be an accomplishment; moreover, if they couldn’t strengthen their forces, this world would eventually be lost. Lin Yue felt the event he was hoping for might happen very soon. He felt a little sad about ending his involvement with Sister Hong, but the more he understood her, the more he wanted to keep his distance.

Just then, as they heard noise at the entrance, it seemed someone had entered the underground entertainment world, but it was not time to open. Could the other gangs have already been that eager to take over the place?

As everyone tensed up, prepared to fight to the death, the figures that appeared were a group of blond-haired, blue-eyed foreigners.

"My God, why are a bunch of foreigners here?" Lin Yue was puzzled, he looked at Sister Hong, only to find that she was just as clueless.

The foreigners greeted them amiably: "Hello, don’t worry, we’re here to help. Let me introduce ourselves first, we are a group of foreign friends. If possible, I would like to talk privately with the person in charge here."
