Chapter 1082: The New Boss

Chapter 1082: Chapter 1082: The New Boss

The underground entertainment world had gone through a bout of chaos, and it had hardly opened its doors again when Brother Jin and many others were done for, leaving only Lin Yue and a few surviving members, all daily speculating about whom Boss Hong would send to take over this underground kingdom.

When Sister Hong arrived and greeted everyone, all were taken aback, not expecting that she would be the one to take charge of this place from now on.

As for this, Lin Yue had anticipated it, with Sister Hong being so capable and her competition eliminated, who else but her would take over?

Sister Hong urged everyone to work hard, promising immediate raises for good performance, which greatly motivated everyone. Who wouldn’t be happy to work under a beautiful boss and earn a high salary?

However, Sister Hong mentioned she needed an assistant and wondered who could take up the role.

Everyone unanimously recommended Lin Yue, for no one knew the business here as well as he did, having been with Brother Jin the longest.

It was only natural then for Sister Hong to make Lin Yue her assistant, entrusting him with his first task: to recruit dependable punks to join them—Sister Hong wanted people who were wholly loyal to her.

Lin Yue assured her it was no problem, he would handle it.

Sister Hong expressed her complete confidence in Lin Yue. She trusted her own judgment and knew she wouldn’t be wrong about him, and her trust only added to Lin Yue’s motivation. He secretly vowed never to let Sister Hong down.

Just as Lin Yue was gearing up to dive into the work, three men burst into the underground entertainment world, claiming Boss Hong had sent them. Knowing Sister Hong was short-staffed, they came to help.

Sister Hong welcomed those sent by Boss Hong and immediately put them to work, but she knew these three were sent as spies by Boss Hong, which was precisely why she had given Lin Yue his task.

Lin Yue disliked Boss Hong’s men intensely, angered at the thought of how loyal Brother Jin had been, only to be treated as expendable.

But lacking sufficient power for now, Sister Hong and Lin Yue had no choice but to keep up cordial relations with the men sent by Boss Hong.

After a night’s work, as the clients left and the underground entertainment world was closing down, it was Lin Yue’s turn to be on duty. Once everyone else was gone, he made sure everything was in order before taking several bags of trash outside.

Approaching the dumpster, Lin Yue noticed a man lying unconscious by the roadside, his complexion poor as if he had been badly injured.

Better to mind his own business, Lin Yue pretended to see nothing, but then the long box by the man’s side shifted suddenly.

The long box captivated Lin Yue, as though there was something inside that resonated with him, a sensation that grew stronger as he drew nearer.

After much hesitation, Lin Yue finally decided to bring the man and the long box back to the underground entertainment world, placing the man in bed to rest. Out of concern, Lin Yue checked the man’s pulse and found a strong heartbeat, which suggested no severe issues.

Yet now, it was the long box that intrigued Lin Yue the most. He was irresistibly drawn by that subtle sensation, and unable to contain himself any longer, he picked up the long box and walked out to the main hall.

Lin Yue set the long box on the bar, took a deep breath, held it, and concentrated, slowly opening the box expecting to find something extraordinary inside.

But upon opening it, Lin Yue was astounded to find an exquisitely crafted sword, emanating a profound sense of righteousness.

Unable to resist, Lin Yue lifted the sword out, and in his hands, it seemed to come alive, vibrating as though excited to meet him.

"This sword must be very valuable." Lin Yue could be certain that the precious sword was definitely worth a fortune, enough to ensure he wouldn’t have to worry about food or clothing for the rest of his life.

Just at that moment, a voice came from behind him, "Being able to pick up this precious sword means you are destined for it, yet you are thinking of selling it."

Lin Yue was startled, then turned around to see that the man who had been unconscious just a moment ago was now standing right in front of him.

The man was the hunter, who simply stated, "Be careful, it might get angry."

Before Lin Yue could understand what he meant, he felt the precious sword in his hand vibrate a few times before it broke free and flew towards the hunter.

"Who exactly are you?" Lin Yue was somewhat scared, feeling like he had saved someone quite extraordinary.

The hunter didn’t seem to care; instead, he walked over to the bar and poured himself a drink, "Since you saved me, you shouldn’t mind me drinking your liquor here."

"It’s fine, drink up; it’s not mine anyway," Lin Yue said nervously, stealing glances towards a possible escape route, preparing for the worst.

Seeing what Lin Yue was thinking, the hunter assured him, "Don’t worry; why would I repay your kindness with ingratitude? You’ve been kind enough to shelter me, and I even want to repay the favor."

"Repay the favor, that’s great, I welcome it," Lin Yue thought, as long as you leave peacefully, I don’t have any expectations for payback.

The hunter added, "I met my master in exactly the same way; it seems you and I are destined. I’ll take you as my disciple and teach you martial arts, how about that?"

"What do you mean? I was being kind and doing a good deed, and now I’ve gone from being your savior to your disciple; it feels like a bad deal." Lin Yue showed some reluctance and then asked, "What martial arts? Nowadays, everyone’s busy making money, who has time to practice martial arts?"

The hunter didn’t take offense, "What if the martial arts I teach you are not ordinary ones?"

Lin Yue was puzzled, "Not ordinary martial arts, how special can they be?"

"You should have felt something different about the precious sword you just held," the hunter said with a slight smirk and took a sip of his drink.

Recalling his interaction with the sword and seeing it fly from his hand into the hunter’s, Lin Yue suddenly realized this person might really be special.

If he could truly learn some skills, Lin Yue was naturally eager, but who this person was, what secrets he harbored, and whether he could be trusted were all unknown to Lin Yue. He felt it was safer to avoid any further involvement with this person.

"I know you’re not able to trust me right now, that’s fine, I’ll give you time. If you come around, just get in touch with me," the hunter finished his drink, ready to leave.

Lin Yue then asked, "How do I contact you? Where do I go to find you? Where do you live?"

"It seems I don’t have anywhere to live," the hunter appeared a bit troubled, "How about I leave you my cell phone number?"

A sudden impulse surged through Lin Yue, prompting him to take a gamble, so he offered, "If you have no place to stay for the time being, why not stay with me? I could use an extra pair of hands around here, and you might be able to help me out."
