Chapter 1070: Chapter 1070: You Are the Bait

But when Lin Yue arrived in the underworld, he saw that Boss Hong’s bodyguard was also there, and this time he had brought more subordinates. It seemed that since the last assassination attempt, Boss Hong had become extra cautious.

This time, Boss Hong had come to ask Brother Jin for a favor. Recently, the shipment brought in by sea was in perfect condition. Usually, Boss Hong would handle such matters himself, but to be safe, he wanted Brother Jin to take care of it instead.

Brother Jin expressed his eagerness to relieve Boss Hong’s worries, saying that even going through fire and water was an understatement for him, and Brother Jin’s subordinates also expressed their willingness to follow him.

Lin Yue was indifferent; he would just follow Brother Jin’s orders. Whatever Brother Jin said, he would do, but Lin Yue noticed Sister Hong by Boss Hong’s side, still as enchanting and seductive as ever, and he couldn’t help but remember that intimate night they had shared.

Following Boss Hong’s orders, Brother Jin took the subordinates to the dock to pick up the shipment and to show their strength, he brought all his subordinates, including Lin Yue.

Boss Hong watched Brother Jin leave full of vigor and nodded in satisfaction. He couldn’t help but remark, "Truly a loyal dog, too bad there won’t be such a good dog following me after this."

A bodyguard, surprised, asked him, "Boss Hong, why would you say that?"

"This time, it’s a gang trying to target me, using a shipment to lure me out. Unfortunately, I already heard the whispers; I’m not going to get myself killed," said Boss Hong with a slight smile, looking very pleased with himself.

The bodyguard was even more shocked, "So Brother Jin and his men are walking into a trap?"

Boss Hong nodded, "Correct, I asked Brother Jin to drag out the inspection of the goods as long as possible. Take your time and check thoroughly. Help me hold off those guys while I lead the others to ransack their lair." After saying this, Boss Hong revealed a sinister smile.

"Does Brother Jin know about this?" worried the bodyguard, who usually had a good relationship with Brother Jin.

Boss Hong sighed, "I haven’t told Old Jin everything. He still thinks this is just a regular handover of goods, completely unaware that it’s a carefully set trap. But I believe Old Jin won’t complain, after all, he’s the one who said he’d go through fire and water for me unhesitatingly."

After hearing this, those around Boss Hong were expressionless, their hearts sinking. They had never expected Boss Hong to be so indifferent, especially since Brother Jin was the one most loyal to him.

"Alright, it’s time for us to leave. As for whether Old Jin and his men can survive, that’s up to their own fate," Boss Hong said, then started puffing on a cigar and strutted away.

Two hours later, at the dock warehouse, Brother Jin and his thirty-plus subordinates officially met with the other party. They exchanged pleasantries, after which the other party asked, "Where is Boss Hong?"

Following Boss Hong’s instructions, Brother Jin pointed to his car, "Our boss is in the car; he has given me full authority to handle everything today."

As Brother Jin spoke, the car window rolled down to reveal a person mimicking Boss Hong’s hairstyle, complete with sunglasses and a hat; naturally, it was Lin Yue in disguise.

The other party actually believed that was Boss Hong, thus they proceeded with the exchange—money for goods—as per their usual dealings.

Brother Jin inspected the goods carefully, just as instructed by Boss Hong. At first, the items appeared fine, but later on, they discovered something amiss with the goods and immediately confronted the other party.

The expressionless faces of the other party shifted as they suddenly grabbed weapons and charged towards Boss Hong’s car.

"Protect the boss, protect the boss!" Brother Jin shouted urgently while grabbing a weapon, leading his brothers to retaliate, only to find that the enemies had unexpectedly brought in a large force from all directions.

The assailants were skilled, first shooting out the tires of Boss Hong’s car, ensuring he couldn’t escape.

"You bastards!" Brother Jin fought desperately, but the opposition was overwhelming. His subordinates were either cut down or fled. He and the few remaining men struggled to hold on.

Lin Yue, disguised as Boss Hong, drew the most attention, being targeted for assassination as soon as he stepped out of the car.

At that moment, another gang’s leader, Boss He, appeared. He looked smugly at the fleeing, scrambling figure of Boss Hong and said, "No need to run, Boss Hong. Once you’re done, your territory will be mine."

"In your dreams, never!" Brother Jin shouted bravely, rushing toward Boss He with the intent to strike at the head of the snake.

However, surrounded by too many protectors, Brother Jin alone couldn’t break through; he was struck several times as he charged, falling with a sense of injustice, until the end he still believed he was serving Boss Hong, unaware he had already been abandoned.

When those men captured Boss Hong and found it was Lin Yue in disguise, it suddenly caused Boss He to feel uneasy about the situation.

In an instant, Boss Hong, with a massive group, charged out, attacking Boss He with overwhelming numbers.

"You scoundrel, to use your most loyal subordinate as bait." Realizing he had been tricked, Boss He attempted to escape only to find he was surrounded from all sides.

Most of Boss He’s own men, who were chasing the decoy Boss Hong, aiming to gain merit, ended up leaving him inadequately protected.

Seizing the opportunity, Boss Hong and all his men charged toward Boss He, swiftly overwhelming him and his people in defense.

"Hong, you haven’t seen the last of me." Boss He was panic-stricken; he had come to defeat his rivals only to be ambushed himself.

Boss He watched as his men one by one fell around him, and others were blocked off; he realized it was all over, completely over.

In the end, even Boss He’s few capable close aides were cut down. This battle was a resounding victory for Boss Hong, who then triumphantly shouted, "Your Boss, Old Two, Old Three are all finished. You can either join me and prosper together, or end up like your boss. I think everyone wants to make money in the underworld, there’s no need to truly die for Boss He."

Hearing this, Boss He’s men looked at each other and then one by one dropped their weapons.

Just like that, Boss Hong took over another gang’s men and territory. He looked proudly at his achievements, utterly indifferent to Brother Jin lying in a pool of blood. To him, a pawn was just a pawn; more could always be found.

The surviving Lin Yue could hardly believe what he had just experienced. He looked visibly shaken, his face pale and still trembling.

Sister Hong spotted him and, realizing Lin Yue was unharmed, quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
