Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared
Chapter 1059: Leading onto the Right Path

Chapter 1059: Chapter 1059: Leading onto the Right Path

Gu Fan returned from his morning exercise and opened the door to his home, expecting breakfast but instead found Lin Xi and Su Hui sitting on the couch with identical postures: arms crossed, legs confidently propped up, leisurely and interestedly watching him.

"Good morning, ladies, did you prepare breakfast for me?" asked Gu Fan nervously, trying to find a topic of conversation.

Lin Xi’s lips curled up: "You can have breakfast, but you must answer my question first. If your answer is satisfactory, I’ll make it for you, but if it’s not, you can forget about eating anything all day."

"Is it that serious?" Gu Fan shuddered, swallowing hard.

Lin Xi’s first question: "How was your private meeting with your ex-girlfriend? Did old flames reignite?"

Gu Fan sighed silently: "I knew this question would come up. Didn’t I update you when I went to see Leng Le?"

"Don’t change the subject, get back to my question," Lin Xi demanded seriously, giving Gu Fan a headache: "Of course not, how could there be anything? My heart is only for you, I’ve seen through Leng Le’s true colors, I have no lingering feelings for her."

"Tsk, men!" Lin Xi clearly didn’t believe him, and Gu Fan had another wave of headache, unsure how long she would dwell on this topic.

Su Hui intervened to smooth things over: "Alright, let’s get to the point. Gu Fan, did you discover anything when you probed Leng Le?"

Gu Fan simply shook his head: "Nothing. That woman has always been a good actress. She won’t easily give herself away."

Lin Xi looked worried: "Your ex-girlfriend has suddenly become so capable, recruiting people left and right; Heaven knows what she’s planning. I’m afraid it might be something against us. Why don’t we just capture her and force a confession?"

"Okay, no problem." At this point, Gu Fan could only comply obediently; whatever Lin Xi said, he just nodded along.

Su Hui felt some sympathy for Gu Fan, his ex-girlfriend and current girlfriend were both tough nuts to crack.

When Gu Fan looked at Su Hui with pleading eyes, she silently held up three fingers, implying a three-month rent reduction—the audacity of her demand made Gu Fan scorn.

In the end, they struck a deal on a one-month rent reduction, and so Su Hui spoke up: "Although we still don’t know what Leng Le is up to, and if it’s unrelated to us, that’s for the best, but just in case, we should keep an eye on her. As for who should do it..." She looked at Gu Fan, who immediately shook his head, making a resolute expression of defiance.

Lin Xi smiled faintly with a suggestive tone: "How about it, Gu Fan? Keeping watch over your ex-girlfriend day and night, protecting her—wouldn’t it be nice for your old feelings to be rekindled?"

"Are we not done yet?" Gu Fan suddenly realized, putting on a face of enlightenment: "Right, how didn’t I think of that? Indeed, it could be a solution."

Lin Xi’s mood shifted abruptly: "You would, wouldn’t you, Gu Fan? You really want to get back together with your ex-girlfriend, don’t you? Just wait and see how I deal with you." With that, she picked up a cushion and flung it at Gu Fan.

"Okay, you two, stop it," Su Hui’s patience was wearing thin. She added: "Now, in addition to keeping a close eye on Leng Le, we also have to watch your brother; it seems we suddenly got busy."

"Indeed, such a peaceful life," Lin Xi lamented, pondering over her dilemma. She wanted to guide Lin Yue back onto the right path in a mild manner, but that was proving to be difficult.

Su Hui knew well about the gangs in the city. It was hard to join them, and even harder to leave. There had been a person who tried to leave, and the gang chased down his entire family.

"It looks like we can’t avoid taking down the top heads of my younger brother’s gang," Lin Xi racked her brain and then looked towards Su Hui, who indicated that taking down a gang really required time to gather evidence and couldn’t be done quickly.

All solutions returned to the previous one, using one gang to strike against another, so Lin Xi turned to Gu Fan with her opinion, "Why don’t we use your ex-girlfriend’s hand to eliminate Lin Yue’s gang?"

Su Hui nodded, "This is also a method, which can not only free Lin Yue from the gang’s bonds but also reveal Leng Le’s movements."

Gu Fan refrained from giving an opinion, to avoid giving Lin Xi something to latch onto and go on and on about.

Just as the three of them wanted to continue discussing what to do, Lin Yue opened the door and saw Gu Fan, Su Hui, and Lin Xi all in the living room, which surprised him, "You are all here."

Lin Xi appeared concerned, "Younger brother, where did you go last night, not even a word."

"I just went to pull an all-night at the internet cafe with friends," Lin Yue came up with an excuse, afraid Lin Xi wouldn’t believe him.

Lin Xi simply responded and then went over enthusiastically, "Little brother, you must be hungry after staying up all night; let your older sister make you breakfast. Just wait for me a moment."

"Thank you, Sister!" Although Lin Yue was grateful for Lin Xi’s care, he didn’t know why, but seeing her so attentive and ready to help, it felt unnatural.

Then Lin Yue noticed Gu Fan and Su Hui smiling at him without speaking, which gave him an eerie feeling, as if he had walked into a den of thieves.

During breakfast, Lin Yue dared not look up, for whenever he did, he saw Lin Xi leaning against the counter with her hands, maintaining a smile.

Lin Yue really didn’t know what was wrong with Lin Xi today; she was particularly off, so he quickly finished his meal, wiped his mouth, and said, "Sister, I’m done with breakfast, thank you for it. If there’s nothing else, I’m going back to sleep."

"Go ahead, have a good dream, I will always protect you," Lin Xi said meaningfully, causing Lin Yue to awkwardly nod his head and not understand why he suddenly felt pressured. He quickly ran upstairs back to his room.

Gu Fan couldn’t help but sigh, "Lin Xi, anyone who has you as an older sister surely has a tough life."

"Nonsense, it’s hard to find such a serious and responsible older sister, even with a lantern," Lin Xi boasted about her role as an older sister.

Su Hui brought up an important point, "We all have to work, and no one can keep an eye on Lin Yue during the day; we can only think of something at night."

Gu Fan nodded, "Exactly, we need to help Lin Yue but also maintain our normal lives, which requires more people’s help. Besides us three, I can also ask Lu Yi and Jie."

"Calling Jie is fine, but I’m worried that Lu Yi, the doomsayer, might make things worse the more he tries to help," Lin Xi expressed her concerns, and after thinking it over, Gu Fan and Su Hui felt she had a point.

At that moment, Lu Yi, who was working diligently at the bank, suddenly sneezed, feeling as though someone was speaking ill of him.

"What’s wrong, do you have a cold?" Lan Ning handed Lu Yi a tissue, which took him by surprise and also delighted him, as he felt his relationship with Lan Ning was progressing. It seemed there was hope for the two of them.
