Chapter 102: Chapter 94: The End
"Mentor Lucien," Carly’s face was somewhat pale at the moment; the battle she had just experienced was arguably the most perilous of all the ones she had gone through.
If it wasn’t for relying on the life-saving divine skill "Moon Veil" to dodge two fatal attacks, and the mutual assistance with Gagarin, Carly might have already become a member of the great family within the willow man’s chest furnace.
"My lord." Gagarin’s state was even more pitiful than Carly’s. His clothes were completely burnt, and his left hand had even been broken. At the wound, one could still smell the scent of charred flesh.
And the two students who originally belonged to Bennett could now only see a lonely one of them looking at Lucien, yet somewhat unsure of what to say.
However, Lucien did not have time to treat them. After tossing out two Recovery Potions, he turned his gaze toward the surviving half-fairies.
They were the ones closest to the willow man just now, and the collateral damage they received was most evident.
Aside from the two half-fairies who had reached the level of Third-level Wizard Apprentices, the remaining two seemed somewhat panicked, one of them even had extensive burns and was barely clinging to life.
The two Third-level Wizard Apprentices were in a pitiful state as well; in the recent battle against the willow man’s main body, the Bloodline Power in their bodies had almost been exhausted. They were now sitting on the ground, quietly like several "spectators," silently waiting for the final judgment from the victor.
And that young man who had left a deep impression on Lucien was also surprisingly still alive, his body blackened. But beneath the scorched skin, a new layer of muscle was quickly growing...
But the faces of these half-fairies were filled with despair. After all, they couldn’t defeat the willow man, nor were they a match for Lucien; the battle was not over, yet they were already out of the running.
Lucien, however, did not have time to deal with these half-fairies and charged directly at the willow man instead.
After all, that fire spirit at the level of a Formal Wizard was slowly recuperating, and time was especially precious to Lucien right now.
If he could dispose of this willow man, then the fire spirits that were its subordinate lives would also perish.
And this willow man was much weaker than the fire spirit transformed from the Fairy leader. Under Lucien’s Moon Blade attack, many burning branches snapped off, unable to withstand Lucien’s ranged assault.
Realizing this, the willow man had no choice but to drive the fire spirits that were still recovering to break out of their cage and charge at Lucien while screeching.
"Explode." Lucien did not hesitate for a moment, and as he manipulated the Moon Blade to pierce through the fire spirit, he immediately detonated the blade.
For elemental life forms with no vital points for a fatal blow, erasing their energy was the most effective way to deal damage.
After detonating the Moon Blade, Lucien did not cast the spiritually taxing witchcraft again, but instead took out two large tubes of poison from his Space Ring and threw them at the fire spirits.
"Venomous Serpent Swarm." Lucien quickly manipulated the splattering poison to form strings of poison serpents. Under the effect of spiritual power, these venom serpents began to wrap around and corrode the fire spirit, producing a sizzling noise as they neutralized each other.
In a sense, the deadly serpents created by Lucien were also elemental life forms. The elemental neutralization happening between them and the fire spirits was causing more damage than the previous Moon Blade explosion.
Seeing the Venomous Serpent Swarm about to be exhausted, Lucien didn’t hesitate to toss out two more tubes, and then, using witchcraft, he formed new poison serpents.
Behind him, Carly drew her bow, each of her arrows coated with frost gliding past Lucien toward the fire spirit. Then, the ice flowers caused by the arrows rapidly dissolved in the flame’s heat. However, these frosty arrows also consumed some of the energy of the fire spirits.
Next to Carly, Gagarin was also clenching his teeth and conjuring up an ice witchcraft to attack the fire spirit.
But attacks from Second-level Wizard Apprentices like Carly and Gagarin were somewhat like "scratching an itch" for the fire spirit; at times, their attacks ended up interfering with the poison serpents driven by Lucien, sometimes even counterproductive.
So after trying to attack a couple of times, Carly and Gagarin stopped their actions.
However, when Carly saw Lucien’s battle with the fire spirit getting into a fiercely tense stalemate, she felt anxious in her heart and wanted to find a way to help her mentor secure the final victory.
If the power of Second-level Wizard Apprentices was not enough to break the stalemate, Carly cast her gaze toward the group of half-fairies in the distance.
While their condition was rather poor, if that young man was counted, there were three beings at the level of Third-level Wizard Apprentice. If she could persuade them to join the battle, they could certainly help ease some of Mentor Lucien’s pressure.
And when Carly noticed this group of half-fairies, she suddenly realized their uncertainty.
