Chapter 100: Chapter 92: Willow Man, Sorcery Scroll
"Let’s go all out!" Upon hearing Bennett’s roar, Chief Maid Fia didn’t hesitate to use a secret technique that ignited her spiritual power.
Boom—Under the enhancement of this secret technique, which severely damaged her Spirit Sea, her aura surged violently and she began to attack recklessly, disregarding her own safety.
Lucien glanced at Bennett and Fia in her explosive state but only grimaced as he once again formed a new moon blade, seemingly at his limit with this method.
Bennett glanced at Lucien nearby but poured his spiritual power into the Space Ring, preparing to pull out his real trump card at the critical moment, hoping to take down both Lucien and Maelbely in one fell swoop.
"Lord Lucien, someone has gone into that cage!" Gagarin’s anxious voice sounded, drawing the attention of Lucien and Bennett.
"Stop him!" Bennett also became anxious, but at that moment, he and Lucien were tightly entangled by Maelbely, and could only watch helplessly as the half-fairy entered the willow cage under the cover of his companions and touched the silver command token inside.
A smile appeared on Maelbely’s face, while the expressions of Lucien and Bennett turned somewhat grim.
But the next moment, a piercing scream stunned the three of them. As the half-fairy touched the silver command token, his body burst into a layer of blazing red flames, even setting the surrounding willow cage on fire.
"Ahu!" Maelbely’s expression changed because the boy now trapped in the cage and suffering from the flames was her child.
Under the shocked gaze of everyone, the ordinary-looking willow cage suddenly sprouted "limbs" made of fire, transforming from a normal wooden cage into a grotesque willow man.
The willow man, enshrouded in flames, stood up and immediately stretched out its fiery palms, beginning to capture half-fairies or Wizard Apprentices nearby, stuffing them into its chest, now filled with fierce flames.
And the half-fairies and Wizard Apprentices who were just fighting each other had now become the willow man’s kindling.
"Instructor...ah!" One of Bennett’s students was also directly grabbed by the willow man’s flaming hand, screaming as he was stuffed into the fiery willow cage, his body starting to burn from the inside out due to the special flames.
The intense heat from the flames scorched his body and spiritual power, causing him excruciating pain that nearly drove him mad. Yet, he could not die, and his consciousness, in extreme pain, became even more alert and more extreme.
"Why am I the one being burned... and why aren’t they being burned..."
"Burn... let everything that can burn be consumed..."
Under the special flames inside the willow man’s chest, the "prisoners" within gradually harbored feelings of resentment, aggrievement, and madness.
"Ah waa..." With a howling cry, the half-fairy "Ahu," initially trapped inside the willow man, let out a scream unlike any normal life form could produce. His body, amid the flames, began to rapidly shrink, eventually turning into a small, half-meter-tall fireball.
The fireball still bore a face resembling Ahu’s, only now it was full of spite.
Whoosh—the fireball lightly leaped, its body now completely elementalized, and easily passed through the constraints of the willow man’s chest cage. However, it did not come out to flee for its life but, full of deep-seated hatred, directed its fury at its former companions.
Freed from the constraints of its physical body, it moved very quickly, and after a series of quick jumps or what could be called flying, it collided directly with another half-fairy, entangling with her. The fierce fire burning on its body also set its former companion alight instantly.
"Ahhh..." The ignited half-fairy couldn’t get rid of the entanglement quickly, and the intense burning of the flames caused her such pain that she couldn’t bear it; even the witchcraft she was manipulating was interrupted, causing a backlash of the magic.
The next moment, the willow man’s giant flaming hand had already grabbed this pitiful half-fairy, stuffing her into its fiery chest cage.
The recently "accomplished" fire spirit, now also quickly rejuvenating under the nourishment of the flames in the willow man’s chest cage, then burst out with a shriek, charging out again...
And the half-fairy who was confined in the willow man’s chest cage because of it would inevitably soon be transformed into a new fire spirit filled with spite and hatred.
"Is this the final test, then? A willow man whose strength is restricted below that of a Formal Wizard?" Lucien observed the somewhat chaotic situation, yet his thoughts remained quite calm.
Clearly, the Magic Beast causing such havoc and disturbance was none other than "Motand" from the named Seven Punishment Beast by Cooke, which in the Fairy language means "Anger and Judgment." However, compared to its somewhat cumbersome formal name, it was better known by its common name, the willow man.
Legend had it that the willow man was originally a special type of combat weapon created by the Fairy Clan; however, by a twist of fate, it developed its own consciousness and eventually transformed into a unique artificial Magic Beast.
Fueled by emotions such as anger and resentment, the willow men would enter a state of sleep or hibernation when food was scarce; yet, when they started to battle, they could transform their enemies into special fire spirits to assist in their combat efforts.
Although these converted fire spirits had brief existences, during their lifetime, they continuously generated negative emotions like resentment and anger, providing high-quality energy for the willow man.
In addition, these fire spirits could act as sparks, aiding the willow man in unleashing numerous special and bizarre fire-related witchcraft techniques, and even in critical moments, these short-tempered creatures would rush at enemies, self-destruct, and cause severe area damage.
However, compared to the rampant willow man currently on the field, other hidden threats were far more deadly.
Lucien, Bennett, and the Fairy leader were mutually restraining and cautious, somewhat hindered in their actions when facing the willow man.
"Damn it," Maelbely was the most urgent at the moment; she was burning the bloodline within her body to achieve fighting abilities comparable to a Formal Wizard, and the longer this state continued, the longer her period of weakness afterward, and the weaker her strength would become, so she had to use this time to gain the maximum advantage for herself.
Thus, with only a moment’s hesitation, she continued her assault on Lucien and Bennett, allowing the willow man to attack the weaker demi-Fairies and Wizard Apprentices.
In her view, as long as she dealt with Lucien and Bennett, who posed a substantial threat to her, it would be much easier to handle the willow man afterward.
Lucien, while fending off Maelbely’s attacks with his Moon Blade, was also quietly constructing a complex witchcraft model. Even with his enhanced spiritual power, building this witchcraft model took a considerable amount of time.
Yet, Lucien did not activate this witchcraft model immediately but quietly waited, even though maintaining the model distracted him and slightly reduced his combat ability, nearly getting him injured by Maelbely several times.
"Almost there..." Bennett was fighting while waiting for an opportunity. When Lucien and Maelbely got entangled again, he saw his chance, his eyes lit up, and he immediately instructed Chief Maid Fia, who was engaged in a fierce battle nearby.
"Fia, at all costs, keep them engaged! At all costs!" Bennett sharply withdrew from the fight and then took out a dusty scroll with many special Secret Runes from his Witch Tool.
At that moment, Bennett was continuously chanting a special incantation, pouring spiritual power into the scroll which, under his influence, gradually emitted a faint light and a heart-pounding aura.
"This is bad, it’s a scroll sealed by a Formal Wizard," Maelbely noticed Bennett’s actions and the dangerous aura emanating from the scroll in front of him, and just as she thought to escape, Fia fearlessly charged into the middle of the melee, releasing a restraining witchcraft with all her might.
"Get out of my way!" Maelbely roared as she launched an attack on Fia, but the latter, fearless of death, remained unmoved in the face of Maelbely.
"Master, Fia truly loves you!" Bennett’s mind heard Fia’s last telepathic message.
However, Bennett, indifferent to Chief Maid Fia’s words, activated the scroll in his hand, and instantly, terrifying destructive thunder enveloped Lucien, Maelbely, and Chief Maid Fia, and even the wave of witchcraft released caught the willow man not far away as well.
Love? Perhaps.
After all, this was the puppet brand he had personally crafted into her soul after he had "captured" Fia.
"Pity, Fia still had potential to rise. But if I can successfully advance, a Third-level Wizard Apprentice servant is expendable. I will definitely find a better one later," Bennett watched coldly as the area was continuously bombarded with thunder, feeling the link in his Spirit Sea with Fia completely severed, a ripple of emotion did emerge in his heart, after all, Fia had followed him for many long years after being controlled.
"It’s like having a pet dog, you develop feelings over time," Bennett muttered to himself.
However, the ripple in his heart was quickly suppressed, and then Bennett looked towards the rampaging willow man below, his attention then returning to the area enveloped in thunder. If Maelbely or Lucien had not died, he would launch the most deadly final blow.
