Chapter 532: Chapter 532 [The Great Heist: Spiritual Ability Administration]
Chen Ke had made up his mind, but robbing the Spiritual Ability Administration was no small feat. A simple Pulito Bank had kept the delivery man busy for three days; this time would only be more complex.
However, the green Holy Diamond seemed to be in a Schrodinger state; the longer they waited, the higher the chance it would be moved. Chen Ke did not want to waste any time, so all the preparatory work that did not need to be done in Opportunity City was concentrated in the Illusion Dream Center.
At 11:20 AM, on Raffi Road in Opportunity City, Chen Ke sat in a café, waving to a man across the street next to the bus stop.
"How have you been, Parker?" Chen Ke shook hands with Parker.
"Not too good, I’ve lost my family and my identity, I can only wander around as ash all day, utterly bored," Parker shook his head, still in the clothes they had first met in.
"I have a small group, just right for someone like you," Chen Ke got straight to the point.
"Then count me in, just like you said, this fate chose me," Parker said.
Illusion Dream Center, an apartment on the third floor.
Chen Ke, Diana, Lucina, and Parker gathered around the table.
"So... you’re Parker? The one from Weber Spirit Production?" Diana looked at Parker, a bit curious.
"I don’t know you, Miss," Parker said.
"The gun you dropped was involved in a case I’m handling. So... have you also traveled through time?" Diana asked.
"That night’s events are complicated, but at least, we’ve come together," Chen Ke said.
"Right, now let’s all introduce ourselves... What skills does everyone have?" Lucina asserted impatiently with one hand on her hip and the other on the table.
"I can turn into ash and fly anywhere," Parker spoke up first.
"Oh... buddy, then you’d better stay away from me," Diana laughed.
"What? You can... turn into ash? What’s the use of that ability?" Lucina was also curious.
"Parker is the only one among us who can fly. Parker, how high have you flown before?" Chen Ke asked.
"Hmm... I can fly just above the city, as for how many meters I’m not sure. But it’s dangerous..." Parker said.
"Dangerous? Why?" Chen Ke asked.
"I’m ash, the high winds up there are too strong. Once I flew too high, got scattered by the wind, and it took me a long time to find the chance to descend and coalesce into human form, so since then I’ve kept my altitude to around a dozen meters or so," Parker said.
"Well, if it’s indoors, you probably don’t need to worry about the wind," Chen Ke said.
"But he should be careful about vacuum cleaners... I think." Diana interjected.
"She’s right! Those things are too dangerous for me!" Parker said.
"This is Diana, she can create fire, she’s a witch. You might not quite understand what a witch is..." Chen Ke introduced Diana to Parker.
"We can work together, I’ve played a trick with Chen Ke. He let his hand catch fire, then I passed through his fingers, and instantly I could turn into a fire tornado," Parker said.
"That sounds great, but just fire isn’t enough; the Administration has a plan for all types of spiritual energy, and even though I burned down Yasla’s den last night, I’m not confident I could move freely inside the Administration’s building," Diana said.
"We aren’t going to kill for fun, we just need to grab that Holy Diamond and then slip out the door," Chen Ke reminded.
"And this is Lucina," Chen Ke introduced Lucina to Parker.
"Oh, what’s your extraordinary ability? Hmm... you seem strong... don’t tell me when you get angry you turn green like the Hulk?" Parker asked curiously.
"I think your brain must be green," Lucina retorted irritably.
Diana bowed her head and turned away laughing.
"She’s the only normal person here," Chen Ke said helplessly.
"Oh, I see. There’s always that one mortal in a team who stands shoulder to shoulder with gods, I bet she’s something like a martial arts master," Parker analyzed, pinching his chin.
"Hello, Master Scum, welcome to our robbery plan. If you haven’t written your will yet, you’d better hurry," Lucina said, arms crossed.
"Wait a second... Chen Ke, our little group... are we going to rob?" Parker suddenly frowned.
"What? He didn’t tell you what we were going to do?" Lucina asked.
"We’re going to rob the Spiritual Ability Administration," Diana added.
"Uh... wait a second, let me get this straight... Chen Ke, we’re going to rob the Spiritual Ability Administration, right?" Buck rubbed his temples and looked at Chen Ke.
Chen Ke nodded.
Parker was silent.
"Holy shit, you guys are insane!" A few seconds later, Parker blurted out.
"I thought you had already told him," Lucina said, looking at Chen Ke.
"I thought he wouldn’t be so surprised," Chen Ke shrugged.
"I thought you were going to form something like the Justice League or the Avengers Alliance..." Parker said with a constipated expression.
"We are the Robbery Alliance," Lucina laughed. "And we’re the second generation."
"Uh... what about the first generation?" Parker asked.
"They’re dead," Lucina said expressionlessly.
"Chen Ke... Chen Ke... I..." Parker looked at Chen Ke, his expression hesitant.
"Listen, Parker, this robbery isn’t that dangerous... well, it’s still pretty dangerous, but I’m 90% sure we can get out intact," Chen Ke said.
"No, no... I’m not scared of that... Chen Ke, have you considered? Even if we get out intact... we’re robbing the Administration... The United Federation won’t tolerate us. What do we do afterward? I still want to live in this country," Parker said.
"During the past time, have you been living?" Chen Ke asked.
Parker was at a loss for words.
"We can’t go back to living normal lives. Parker. Look at me, I used to be an agent of the Administration, but now, I’m a monster made up of 99% Flame. What kind of job do you think I can find?" Diana said.
"I understand. I just need time to think, I... I’ve never robbed anyone, I have no idea how to do it. Chen Ke, what exactly are you planning to steal from them?" Parker asked.
"He wants a green Holy Diamond, gathering six of them will give you a big surprise," Lucina said.
"Why do you want that?" Parker looked at Chen Ke and asked.
"I don’t know why I want that, but I’ve seen the future, and that big surprise is in my hands," Chen Ke said.
"Ah... I get it now... you are achieving what must be achieved!" Parker said.
"But you said the future can be changed, perhaps the more you want it, the less likely you are to have it," Lucina said.
"The future is in my hands; it isn’t immutable or uncontrollable. Haven’t you also seen that future?" Chen Ke shook his head.
Lucina remained noncommittal.
"Hmm... it feels a bit like the Justice League now!" Parker clenched his fists.
"So, let’s talk business," Diana said, throwing several A4 papers on the table. They were art supplies taken from Chen Ke’s drawer, she had drawn a floor plan of part of the Administration building with a pencil.
Diana was very familiar with the internal structure of the Administration CPA building, and after being promoted to a level 9 agent, her access increased, allowing her to know more confidential information.
"The Administration’s alarm system uses an internal power source, so you can’t disrupt their operations by cutting off circuits or signal sources from outside. Plus, starting right from the front gate, there are Spiritual Energy detectors; if you’re not an agent, illegal Spiritual Energy Users are apprehended one by one," Diana said.
"Does that mean we can’t sneak in?" Chen Ke asked.
"Impossible. The moment you step through the gate, the whole building will know you’re there. We’d be ambushed by agents, and in the worst case, even P.W.A.T. would be nothing... Have you heard of R6? Spiritual Ability Special Forces," Diana shook her head.
"Sounds bad..." Lucina’s voice was heavy.
"We need to act fast, charge directly to the archives; most of what we’ll face are probably just agents. By the time R6 or something arrives, we’ll have already fled," Chen Ke said confidently.
"How much time do we have?" Lucina asked.
"That depends on how much noise we make, if I light them up like last night, R6 might be activated in just 5 minutes. In the worst case..." Diana said.
"We’re not here to kill, only to deal with what’s necessary and those in our way," Chen Ke said.
"The question is, how do we fight Holy Relics and Spiritual Ability Users with an automatic rifle?" Lucina asked again.
"We’re not using automatic rifles against them... that’s why, for this operation, only three people are going in, Lucina, you stay here and wait for us," Chen Ke looked at Lucina.
"That’s not fair!" Lucina angrily said.
