Chapter 524: Chapter 524: The Indescribable Bat Cave

"Alright, sir, if you run into any trouble, please contact us immediately."

The County Police officer in his dark blue uniform stood in front of the estate, watching as a group of people cleaned up the aftermath. Li Moyang stood on the steps, not looking disheveled despite having several adhesive bandages on his face.

"We’ll be more careful when using the pressure cooker next time," Li Moyang said nonchalantly.

The officer adjusted the brim of his hat, then returned to the patrol car, turned off the emergency lights, and left the yard.

The visiting guests had suffered heavy casualties, and the blame was placed on Yasla’s head. Li Moyang sent the survivors away, promising to reorganize and hold another auction after some rest and relocation.

Although the visitors harbored complaints about Li Moyang’s refusal to discuss compensation, they were all complicit in their own ways, so they had no choice but to return home.

However, Chen Ke knew things weren’t that simple. In an effort to help him, Li Moyang had not only spent a great deal of money and offended Yasla but had also exposed his biggest secret, demonstrating extreme loyalty and righteousness.

Lucina pulled up a chair to sit, her thigh torn open by a shrapnel wound, with blood trickling down her calf. Her collarbone and forehead also had multiple bruises. Although she had avoided Bader, the fight within the estate had been anything but easy.

Pankia and Sleery were completely unscathed, as they had hidden in the safe room on the third floor during the clash.

Ordinary bullets couldn’t harm Yasla’s freaks; in some ways, they were no different from Spiritual Monsters. The corpses of Yasla’s mutants in the hall had been wrapped up and moved to the basement before the County Police arrived, and Li Moyang’s crippled Power Armor was also well taken care of.

Li Moyang had the hired servants clean the house and brought Chen Ke, Lucina, Pankia, and Sleery to the estate’s wine cellar. He lit a candle, and its flickering light illuminated his hesitant expression. He stood by a wine barrel, silent for a moment, then looked at the others.

"You all saw what happened in the hall, so I see no need to hide it anymore. But I ask you, don’t let this get out," Li Moyang said seriously.

"I don’t think anyone here is going to talk about this, but what about those servants?" asked Chen Ke.

"Hmm... I can say they are my bodyguards," Li Moyang said.

"Right, they’re just extras with low intelligence," added Sleery.

"Yeah, just put on a pair of glasses, and you can perfectly hide your identity," said Lucina as well.

"Well... it’s time to show you my private space," Li Moyang said, turning the wine barrel’s faucet 90 degrees. Then, the entire barrel rolled backwards and to the side, revealing a passageway.

"Oh... what is this..." Sleery said with curiosity.

"It’s like a superhero comic. Do you also have a Batcave, Mr. Li?" Chen Ke asked imitating Alfred’s accent.

"Come on," Li Moyang said with a smile.

The wine barrel was large, so the entrance to the secret space was not small either. The five people didn’t need to stoop to get inside. Chen Ke noticed that Pankia was unfazed throughout; he must have known about the stuff Li Moyang was up to in secret from the start, right?

Following the dark staircase downward, electrical cables lined the walls. By the light of the candle, Chen Ke noticed a change in the passageway; if the earlier dirt walls and concrete steps showed signs of human work, then the situation had completely changed by now.

The walls... began to look repulsive, dark purple and chitinous to the touch, like the belly of an insect, with black horizontal stripes and hard hairy edges that could easily cut one’s hand.

The steps beneath their feet transformed into a gently sloping ramp, and walking on it felt like stepping on some kind of skin—an imitation heartbeat sound reached their ears. Apart from Pankia and Li Moyang, everyone else seemed a bit tense.

"I don’t feel too good about this place... Dad, I want to go up," Sleery was the first to back out, unable to tolerate the suffocating darkness of the tunnel and its eerie surroundings.

"Don’t be afraid, little one, there’s nothing wrong here," Pankia consoled.

Chen Ke took Lucina’s hand and looked back at her. Lucina shook her head and continued to walk resolutely downward alongside Chen Ke.

After walking for five minutes, they finally arrived before a red iron door, which was clearly out of place from its surroundings, evidently man-made, and judging from the design, it resembled the door to a prison cell.

"Alright, here we are, I hope no one feels too uncomfortable."

Li Moyang opened the door and switched on the lights in the space behind it. A string of small bulbs connected by electric wires hung all around, twinkling like stars in the night sky.

Five people entered the room, and contrary to what Chen Ke had imagined, Li Moyang’s underground secret space wasn’t filled with high-tech equipment and projection computers like Batman’s but appeared particularly shabby.

On a wooden table, there were three laptops, the Iron Man that had been crushed just sat at the wall, its head still lying on the floor, and there was a 3-meter-tall shelf directly in front of the door, which seemingly should have been erected there when not piloted.

Besides, there was something else that caught Chen Ke’s attention. It was a thing akin to the pit of a plum, about the size of a wall-mounted air conditioner, nestled in the southwest corner of the room. The heartbeat sound was emanating from this device.

"Is this... your personal space?" Sleery asked.

"It’s quite simple, but you should know, this room was originally meant to imprison me," Li Moyang explained.

"Imprison?" Chen Ke exclaimed without thinking. He wanted to ask more, but since Pankia and Sleery were present, he didn’t continue.

Li Moyang, however, was open about it and didn’t shy away from sharing the entire story.

It turned out that the room itself was part of this underground space akin to the interior of an insect, and the house above was only influenced by the thing below; that’s how it became something resembling a container.

Li Moyang was enlisted in the Founders project by Lin Yaying as a test; he was imprisoned in this underground cage, eating only one meal a day, required within a month to use three laptops and basic tools to completely analyze the composition of this heart-like plum pit object.

"According to Lin Yaying, it is a test of IQ and stress resistance because the Foundations’ founders surpass ordinary people significantly in these aspects," Li Moyang said.

"It seems you won the challenge?" Lucina said.

"Correct, dear Miss Lucina, I took only six days. Two days to write the programs I needed, three for the experiments to extract samples, and the last day to come to a conclusion," Li Moyang said, somewhat proudly.

"Oh... then you’re truly amazing," Lucina clapped her hands.

"The key point is... you think Lucina... is cute?" Chen Ke squinted, looking confused.

"That’s right, her rounded shoulders and the curves of her arms are indeed beautiful, and the way she frowns when she’s angry is bewitching. Chen Ke, I’m quite envious of you," Li Moyang said.

"Oh... Is this the style you men are into lately?" Sleery looked at Chen Ke and Li Moyang with some dissatisfaction.
