Chapter 515: Flame Witch Lucina?
Chapter 515: Chapter 515: Flame Witch Lucina?
"Hey... Chen Ke, where are you going..."
Hall reached out to pull Chen Ke but was a step too late; he could only watch him cross the stands and approach the iron cage.
"Hey buddy, want to place a bet?" the man in the duckbill cap called out to Chen Ke from afar. Despite his smile, anyone could sense the threat in his tone.
Four black men in black T-shirts also stood up from their seats nearby and converged towards Chen Ke.
The two fighters inside the cage noticed Chen Ke. Human Drill spread his hands in confusion, while Lucina looked astonished.
"Sir, please leave." A black bodyguard reached out to grab Chen Ke’s arm.
"Sit down." Chen Ke looked at the four black bodyguards. A murderous aura rose from behind him and seeped into their minds, rendering their expressions stupefied. They plopped onto the ground, one of them had just pulled out a gun, thankfully without removing the safety.
The audience was unclear about what this man intended to do, but they instinctively felt that he was not to be trifled with. The venue suddenly fell silent.
Duckbill Cap saw the four bodyguards sit down without moving after just a brief confrontation, and his expression immediately tightened. He realized this man might be something abnormal and regretted having spoken to him.
Chen Ke reached out and grabbed the iron cage. An Helei’s flames turned the wires red hot, the temperature climbing along the mesh. Soon, a small section softened and turned red, and he ripped open a hole tall enough for a person, as if tearing open a woman’s dress.
"How did you know about this place..." Lucina asked, surprised, as Chen Ke crawled through the iron cage.
"Hall brought me here," said Chen Ke.
"And then?" Lucina spread her hands.
"Come back with me," Chen Ke said.
Lucina sighed, glanced at Human Drill, who had lost all his ferocity after seeing Chen Ke tear open the iron cage with bare hands and was now more like an obedient little brother.
"What do you think?" Lucina asked Human Drill.
"I have no objections. I won’t fight you anymore," Human Drill waved his hand dismissively and slowly retreated towards the fighters’ entrance.
"You actually came to find me. I thought you would wait for me to come back on my own," Lucina said.
"Wait for you to come back bloody?" asked Chen Ke.
"I was just having some fun. Why are you getting worked up?" Lucina frowned.
"Locked in a cage? Wrestling with a man taller and bigger than you, is this your idea of fun?" Chen Ke challenged.
"Don’t underestimate me, Chen Ke! I’m not a porcelain doll! It’s not as if you’re the only one who has fought before!" Lucina clenched her fists and waved them at Chen Ke.
"You know nothing about fighting, Lucina. How would you handle an opponent like me?" Chen Ke spread his hands.
"I know nothing about fighting? Haha. This is an underground fighting ring... Put away your tricks, try it with your fists, and see if I really know nothing," Lucina laughed, cracking her knuckles.
"Keep calm, Lucina. I don’t want to hurt you," said Chen Ke.
"You better warm up, dear, because I don’t want to hurt you either," Lucina smiled.
Hall also left his seat and stood by the black bodyguards, picking up the handgun that had fallen to the ground.
"If you guys want to...compete, then should I leave first?" Human Drill whispered.
Chen Ke and Lucina both looked at him, then nodded.
"Let’s see how you fight," said Lucina, stepping forward and taking a standard boxing stance.
Chen Ke stepped back twice, straightened his tie, and watched Lucina. Her steps were professional, clearly trained in boxing, and from the rise and fall of her stomach, Chen Ke had a clear read on her breathing rhythm.
Even though Lucina assumed a stance against him, he did not feel any murderous intent. After all, Lucina didn’t intend to kill Chen Ke; she was more about proving herself to him.
She wasn’t one of those female characters in a romance novel who existed merely as a male diversion; Lucina too was a fighter. When the main male protagonist faced evil, she would also be by his side, engaging in the battle.
However, Chen Ke didn’t see it that way.
Lucina might be strong, skilled with a gun, and had experienced real fights and robberies, killed people, fought battles, and was a fierce woman. But when facing inexplicable things, she was just flesh.
Lucina took a step forward and swung a straight punch at Chen Ke’s cheek. The speed was swift, the force strong, and the turbulent breaking of air was chilling.
But Chen Ke saw through her punching technique. Her breathing rhythm, footsteps, gaze, and body state, everything hinted that this attack was a feint, with the main attack yet to come.
Chen Ke stood still, his upper body slightly leaning back, and Lucina’s middle finger knuckle stopped just 0.5 centimeters from his nose.
Before Lucina could unleash her main move, Chen Ke immediately initiated an attack with the simplest of actions in the most straightforward manner. He closed the distance before she could retract her fist.
Lucina’s eyes widened in surprise, not yet reacting when she felt Chen Ke touch her stomach.
Chen Ke lightly patted her abs. Rather than a strike, it was more akin to a caress. He then pushed her shoulder hard, causing Lucina to stagger and retreat several steps.
"If I had a knife just now, you would be dead," Chen Ke said.
Lucina’s face flushed with a mix of shame, humiliation, and admiration visibly contorting her face as she stared at Chen Ke.
The spectators in the venue had no clear idea what exactly happened inside the cage, but since Chen Ke had burnt through the iron wires bare-handed, they knew he was a Spiritual Ability User. Some started to whisper, speculating that this man might be from the Administration Bureau.
"Come back with me," Chen Ke said again.
Lucina clenched her fists, feeling utterly out of place, snorted, and turned to walk through the competitors’ passage.
A few minutes later, three people were sitting in a car, leaving the underground fight venue.
Having witnessed Chen Ke’s actions, the local boss behind the fights did not send anyone to stop them, and also instructed that all his fight venues should no longer accept registrations from Lucina.
Lucina let her ponytail loose, wearing only a pair of jeans and her black boxer vest, sitting in the back seat and stuffing her earphones in, not uttering a word.
Chen Ke drove towards the Deep Anchor District while Hall took a couple of painkillers and dozed off in his seat.
"Stop a moment...stop..." Lucina suddenly tapped Chen Ke’s seat.
The car halted on the coastal road, and the cool breeze from the inner sea brought along a fishy smell.
Lucina got out of the car to stand by the roadside, gazing into the distant sea.
Chen Ke also got out and walked up behind Lucina, without saying anything because he knew she must be feeling very troubled right now.
After a long silence, Lucina suddenly said, "I remembered the days I spent on the sea with my dad."
"You had a good father. Even in the toughest times, he was thinking of an escape route for you," Chen Ke said.
"You treat me like a little girl, just like my dad did," Lucina said blandly.
"You are a grown woman, but there are many things in this world that can easily destroy you," Chen Ke said.
"Chen Ke, did you foresee this outcome?" Lucina suddenly turned her head to ask.
"I saw your end, and I want to change it," Chen Ke said.
"Maybe you already have, and then God gave me another," Lucina said.
"Maybe not yet?" Chen Ke said.
"I also saw your end, Chen Ke. When that time comes, will I just have to watch you leave, like my dad? Huh?" Lucina looked earnestly at Chen Ke.
"I won’t let that happen," Chen Ke said.
"And what about my dad?" Lucina said.
"It wasn’t anyone’s fault," Chen Ke said.
"No... it was my fault. I didn’t have the power, yet I had to face such enemies. So I could only hide and let the people around me die..." Lucina said.
"That’s not how it was, Lucina, the root of it all was that diamond," Chen Ke said.
"We stole that diamond together, if we were destined to do that... then what’s happening now is due to my helplessness," Lucina said.
"Lucina... I have that power... I can give it to you. But the cost... you won’t be human anymore, do you want it?" Chen Ke said.
Lucina looked at Chen Ke, her eyes flickering with complex emotions of anticipation, fear, hesitation, and insecurity converging in her green pupils as she stared at him.
"Are you serious...?" Lucina asked.
Chen Ke stretched out his hand, a small flame slowly igniting in his palm.
It was the inheritance of the Flame Witch, reconstructing the body, burning the soul, and becoming an avatar of fuel.
"I have witnessed that power, Lucina, are you willing to pay the price for this power?" Chen Ke said.
Lucina hesitated for a moment, then gritted her teeth and grabbed Chen Ke’s hand. The flame slowly transferred from his palm to hers.
