Chapter 506: Chen Ke’s Revenge
Chapter 506: Chapter 506: Chen Ke’s Revenge
Late at night in Opportunity City, Raffi Road District.
Chen Ke adjusted his tie and stood in a shadowy corner, observing the Si’s consortium building across the street.
He had borrowed a suit from Li Moyang, along with his shotgun. With the Illusion Dream Center, Chen Ke could save a great deal of traveling time, appearing in any place he had previously been just through a door, as if by instant teleportation.
The Si’s consortium building across the street was pitch dark, everything seemed so calm, but Chen Ke knew the city was destined for unrest that night.
Even in the dead of night, there were still a few pedestrians incessantly circling the streets around the Si’s consortium building, and those vehicles parked in the corners and alleys with their engines off turned out to be patrol cars belonging to the County Police.
Who exactly wanted the green Holy Diamond so badly that even Slavin, the newly appointed chairman of the consortium, would go to lengths to bribe the County Police, deploy a large number of Spiritual Ability Killers, and personally enter the fray to snatch it?
He was going to ask Slavin himself, not just that, but he also had no intention of hiding and playing the assassination game anymore. Chen Ke stepped onto the street and walked straight towards the Si’s consortium building.
As Chen Ke moved, the surrounding pedestrians also slowly began to gather towards him. With one glance at the street through Spiritual Vision, there were at least over twenty people, not to mention more who might be hiding in nearby buildings.
Might as well cause a big scene then, since he could no longer go back to the everyday life of an ordinary person anyway.
An orange glow flashed around Chen Ke’s body, and black armor adhered to him, his right hand gathering a blue light. Seeing Chen Ke using Spiritual Power in the middle of the street, the nearby Assassins were stunned for a couple of seconds before they decisively drew their guns and shot at him.
The hidden police cars around them timely lit up their sirens, and the interlacing blue and red lights gave the streets under the night sky an otherworldly illusion, but they did not stop the Assassins. Instead, they parked the cars at both ends of the street, effectively blockading the area surrounding the building.
"Bang bang bang!"
The Assassins kept shooting at Chen Ke, sparks flying off his body with every bullet hit.
The Assassins on the street were just ordinary people, some with pistols, others concealing submachine guns with 9mm bullets that lacked the power to shake Chen Ke’s armor.
Chen Ke responded with a shot from his Spiritual Power Crystal Gun, the life countdown-augmented blue Crystal Gun flying towards a police car and hitting the gas tank, igniting a magical explosion inside the tank. The police car blasted off the ground, soaring up four to five meters high, killing the County Police inside along with it.
People inside the building must have also noticed the commotion on the street, as a large group of armed ordinary Assassins poured out from the ground floor door. They were all cannon fodder, completely devoid of Spiritual Power, and could only attack with firearms.
Chen Ke could not understand these people, much like he could not understand the henchmen of villains in Hollywood movies. Knowing the protagonist could not be killed, why would they still rush in blindly?
Chen Ke did not resort to An Helei’s Flame, after all there were other buildings around, and he only wanted to kill the people from the consortium, not to cause indirect harm to others.
One Crystal Gun shot followed another, piercing through the group of Assassins, limbs and arms scattered all over the street. It was not like shooting a film, and seeing that their firearms had little effect on Chen Ke, the Assassins fought for less than two minutes before they began to retreat.
Chen Ke, with his clanging footsteps, used his Spiritual Power to burst open the building’s glass doors, crushing the tiles underfoot as he moved toward the elevator.
Slavin was inside the building, and if he was not wrong, he was probably at the very top.
But at this critical moment, was taking the elevator not a good idea? If they cut the power to the elevator shaft, he could be trapped inside.
Chen Ke sighed and turned to walk towards the emergency stairs. He did not know how many floors this building had, but it was definitely no less than thirty.
He didn’t mind climbing the stairs, after all, his stamina was limitless, but it would be a pity if Slavin escaped while he was ascending.
Chen Ke thought for a moment, then pried the elevator doors open with his hands and looked up the elevator shaft.
"I’m not using the elevator, and neither are you."
He threw a Spiritual Power Crystal Gun at the elevator cables, which emitted a heart-stopping snap as they broke. Then, an even more terrifying whooshing sound came from above the elevator shaft, growing louder and louder.
Chen Ke stepped back a few paces, and when the whooshing sound neared the bottom of the building, he heard people screaming inside. Observing through Spiritual Vision, he spotted a few armed guards stuffed inside the elevator car, plummeting in despair.
"Thud!"
The elevator crashed down to the underground floor, and the entire floor shook with it. Only then did Chen Ke relax, turn around, and enter the emergency stairwell to climb up.
Meanwhile, in the Si’s consortium chairman’s office on the 32nd floor, several high-ranking County Police officers, Slavin, and his bodyguards were closely monitoring the movements below.
A fat man dressed in a black suit with a face full of horizontal flesh glanced at the movement on the monitor, then turned to look at Slavin.
"Mr. Slavin, is he your man?" The man asked. The bald thugs accompanying him were also bristling with murderous intent.
"Of course not... Mr. White, why would I do such a thing?" Slavin sat on the couch, his eyes wary as he looked at the man.
White lit a cigar and sat down on the sofa opposite Slavin. After some thought, he suddenly asked, "Who is he? Why is he here?"
"He’s a mistake of ours... His name is Lin Mo, he used to be an assassin with Spiritual Power for Si’s consortium." Slavin replied truthfully.
"Hmm... He’s strong, if we could mass train assassins with Spiritual Power of his level, maybe... we could really make our mark. At least leaking the Spiritual Power Injection Skill to you guys wasn’t such a bad move." White chuckled.
"If I might be so bold... Mr. White, he’s killing his way up here, is now really the time to consider such things?" Slavin said cautiously.
"We’ve deployed four teams of P.W.A.T downstairs; we’re absolutely safe here. I’m curious to see how long it will take him to get up here." White replied.
"I don’t think that’s a good idea... We should take the helicopter and escape quickly!" Slavin attempted to rise, but was glared back into his seat by one of White’s bald henchmen as he felt the strength surge in his thigh.
"Leave? Abandon your company? Think about it, Slavin, how long have you waited for this position? Even if Corrigan passed away and Pankia disappeared, without my secret support, you wouldn’t be able to sit here." White said contemptuously.
"I haven’t denied that, why bring it up now?" Slavin said, dissatisfied.
"I just want to see if you really deserve this position." White smirked.
Slavin sat on pins and needles, fully aware of the big loss Lin Mo had inflicted on Pankia, and judging from what he’d seen on the monitor, Lin Mo’s combat abilities were much higher than before at the consortium.
"He’s going to kill us! White!" Slavin shouted at White.
"We’ll find out, let’s see how capable he really is." White said with a smile.
