Chapter 478: Chapter 478: Imaginary Cage

"Mmm..."

Lucina woke up with a splitting headache and the room spinning, her arms also numb and tingling.

She heard the sound of chains moving above her head; only her tiptoes could barely touch the ground. Looking up, she saw her arms were wrapped in chains, bound and hanging from the ceiling beams.

"Ugh..." As the double images before her eyes merged into one, Lucina realized she was in an abandoned factory.

Empty and silent, the workshop was filled with unrecognizable, rusty equipment, and the mottled walls were covered with green ivy.

Before her, the agent was fiddling with something on an iron table, making unnerving noises.

Hearing movement behind him, the agent stopped what he was doing, turned around to look at Lucina, his face still cold and expressionless, looking very professional.

And as he turned, Lucina also saw the items on the iron table: a handheld electric saw, a pair of long-nosed pliers, a Ghurka knife, along with a pack of scalpels, and more...

At the other end of the table were several syringes, and beside the table corner was a green plastic bucket, likely filled with clean water.

"Miss Lucina, how was your sleep?" the agent asked.

"I didn’t dream of you," replied Lucina, still feeling the pain in her jaw, likely cut open.

"I told you before that our next meeting might not be so pleasant," the agent said, picking up the long-nosed pliers and sliding his fingertips along their jaws.

"Of course, I remember. Some men don’t take ’no’ for an answer. They keep licking your heels until you stomp their faces into the ground," Lucina said with a laugh.

"Well, you see, every adult has to face the consequences of their choices. We should have come to an understanding at your fishery and never crossed paths again, but you chose a different path, one that brings suffering into our lives," said the agent.

"And then what? Are you planning to wait until I cry and beg you?" Lucina said.

The agent put down the long-nosed pliers.

"Truthfully, Miss Lucina, I really like women like you—tough, sexy, beautiful, and with a strong character and a sense of humor. So, even now, I’m still willing to give you another chance," the agent stated.

The agent walked up to Lucina, placing his hands on her waist, looking at her seriously.

"Tell us where Chen Ke is. Once we find him, you’ll be free to go," he said.

"Get your paws off me," Lucina demanded.

"I hope we can come to an understanding. This is your last chance," he said.

"You never had a chance. We have nothing to discuss," said Lucina.

The agent sighed, released Lucina, and walked back to the iron table.

"You know... this place is far from the city center, and there’s nothing around the factory. Even if you were to take a car to Raffi Road, it would take half an hour," the agent remarked.

He picked up the pliers and looked at them, shook his head, put them down, and then grabbed the Ghurka knife beside him.

"Do you know what that means, Miss Lucina?" he asked.

"Remind me," Lucina replied, glancing up at the chains binding her hands and scanning her surroundings, looking for any means of escape.

"It means no matter what I do to you, no one will come to save you. Even if they wanted to, they wouldn’t reach you in time," he said as he tested the knife’s edge with his thumb.

"And no matter how loud you scream, no one will hear you. It’s quite desperate, isn’t it? But the advantage is, screaming helps relieve pain. You can cry out loud without worrying about neighbors calling 911 for a disturbance," the agent said, putting down the Ghurka knife, apparently finding it unsatisfactory.

"You can’t scare me, sissy boy," said Lucina.

She wasn’t completely clueless about interrogation; the purpose of a tormentor was to get answers, so even in her current predicament, Lucina still believed she had a chance to escape unharmed.

At worst, she would endure a beating, but she was confident she could find a way to escape... Lucina silently cheered herself on.

Half an hour later...

Drool trickled down from slightly parted lips onto her chest; finally, Lucina was covered in cuts and bruises, and the agent still stood before her.

"You’re very strong, Miss Lucina, but the human spirit has its limits," the agent shook his head and said.

"Spirit?" Lucina panted, sweat trailing down the curve of her chin and dripping onto the floor.

She felt something different, the wounds on her body were slowly disappearing. The recent experience felt like nothing but a nightmare.

"Miss Lucina, let me briefly introduce your current situation. I can generously tell you that all the torture inflicted on your body was just an illusion," the agent said.

"Since you’ve told me that, I have nothing to worry about," Lucina replied coldly.

"I admire your confidence, but I must remind you, illusions can deceive your brain and bring about genuine sensations of pain. I can torture you over and over again, enjoying every inch of your muscles until you decide to tell me where Chen Ke is, or until your spirit breaks," the agent said.

"You’re a sicko," Lucina said.

"That’s right, I’m a sicko, so what? Right now, you’re nothing but my toy. Keep up your current expression and attitude, Miss Lucina, I’ll enjoy breaking down your psyche, no matter how long it might take..." the agent said coldly.

"You’re not really from the Administration Bureau, are you?" Lucina said.

The agent was taken aback for a moment, then no longer concealed the truth.

"At this juncture, there’s no need for pretense... That’s right, we’re not from the Administration Bureau," the agent said.

"The Administration Bureau wouldn’t use such outdated interrogation tactics. You’re not even Spiritual Ability Users, nor are you related to Yasla," Lucina said.

She felt that her deduction was correct. The Administration Bureau had countless ways to make a person talk, and as for Yasla... they could simply send the Silent Witch, while these agents in front of her could only hang people up and beat them.

"You’re right. So... let’s continue to have our fun, Miss Lucina," the agent scoffed, picking up a Gurkha knife beside him and prying open the back of Lucina’s camisole.

Lucina’s curses and screams filled the factory as the agent began his long, cruel, devastating but non-lethal interrogation.

It was like a scene from the seventh layer of hell, with every bout of beating followed by a few minutes of recovery, in a relentless, sleepless cycle.

"Ha... Ahhhh!!! Mmm..."

After another round of interrogation finished, the agent placed the bloodied hook on the iron table and washed his hands in the green bucket, cleaning off Lucina’s fatty fluids and blood that clung to his skin.

Lucina’s body was covered with terrifying cuts, making her look like a bloody figure.

This torture continued for 16 hours, which was what the agent had told her.

In a few more minutes, the wounds on Lucina’s body would heal, but 16 hours without food or water, coupled with overwhelming pain and excessive sweating, were tormenting enough.

Lucina watched the agent wash his hands. When he took them out of the bucket, the water had turned red.

At that moment, two more agents walked into the factory. They didn’t push the door open; they walked right through it.

"President Clayvin called... he’s urging us to speed things up."

"Chen Ke’s girlfriend is tough to crack. I’ve never seen a woman like her. I thought just using the Imaginary Cage would make her talk in minutes."

"She really held out that long?"

"That woman’s physique isn’t just for show, plus she’s a member of the courier service..."

"I’ll explain to President Clayvin, but you’d better speed up."

"I know, I know... I’ll find Chen Ke and make him cough up the Holy Diamond he stole."

The three agents were talking at a distance, but the place was so quiet, Lucina still heard what they were saying.

Clayvin... Lucina didn’t recognize the name nor had she ever heard it before, but they mentioned the courier service, the green Holy Diamond... Lucina suddenly realized that they were from Si’s consortium!

She saw the water in the green bucket, which was red from blood, rapidly clearing up, and at the same time, her body gave a violent shudder. In the next second, Lucina’s limbs returned, and all the wounds on her body vanished.

The iron chain wrapped around her suddenly reappeared left arm, like a snake coiling up the prey that had suddenly appeared in front of it.
