Chapter 380: Chapter 380 Interference

Chen Ke and Ms. Harlowin decided to leave Warehouse 6 for last, as it was some distance from them, and right in front of them was Warehouse 8, where they planned to start.

These warehouses resembled the large dock buildings typical of wharves or the big storage spaces found in factories. Standing in front of the iron door, Chen Ke felt his own insignificance.

The structure of the warehouses was not complex; the big iron doors slid open and were controlled electronically. Ninety percent of the inside was open space, with stairs on the side leading up to the warehouse office.

Ms. Harlowin, having died hundreds of times, was already thoroughly familiar with the layout of these warehouses. The only thing hindering her was the overwhelming firepower inside.

"What’s their equipment like? How many people?"

Chen Ke and Ms. Harlowin stood in front of the large iron door of Warehouse 8. Before they entered, Chen Ke wanted to know what kind of resistance they would encounter.

"AK47s, grenades, pump-action shotguns... and occasionally M16s and tranquilizer guns," Ms. Harlowin explained.

"Tranquilizer guns?" Chen Ke raised an eyebrow.

"Believe me, rookie, you wouldn’t want to be captured alive by them," Ms. Harlowin said with a smile.

"It seems you’ve been captured quite a few times," Chen Ke checked the condition of his Type 67.

"Many times, rookie, many times. They have plenty of torture techniques and interrogation equipment," Ms. Harlowin said thoughtfully.

"They must have had quite a bit of fun with you..." Chen Ke sighed.

"If we can complete the mission this time, I wouldn’t mind you having some fun too," Ms. Harlowin said.

"No need, Ms. Harlowin... I’m a one-woman man," Chen Ke shook his head.

"Hmm... that’s rare. Why not tell me your plan?" Ms. Harlowin asked.

Chen Ke’s plan was simple: follow Ms. Harlowin’s lead and charge in.

Of course, it wouldn’t be that foolish. Before Ms. Harlowin charged in, Chen Ke instantly activated his Future Vision to predict what would happen once she entered, so he would know if there was a safe inside.

If there was no safe, Chen Ke would immediately stop Ms. Harlowin and switch warehouses to start over.

Future Vision wasn’t simply about predicting the future; it actually predicted the upcoming movement trajectory of objects.

To give a simple example, if a cup was placed on a table and Chen Ke activated his Future Vision to watch it, he wouldn’t see anything happening because the cup’s state wasn’t being changed by any external force, nor did the cup have the ability to change itself.

It was only when a person or object acted, either actively or passively, causing a change, that Chen Ke would see its future trajectory.

For instance, if Chen Ke picked up the cup and threw it out the window, he could then see through Future Vision the future trajectory of the cup—whether it would fall and shatter or hit someone’s head.

Therefore, the plan couldn’t be entirely disclosed to Ms. Harlowin; Chen Ke needed her to genuinely rush into the warehouse.

If she were aware of Chen Ke’s plan and ability, then her actions might not be pure, perhaps hesitating or stopping midway.

And that wouldn’t achieve their goal.

In other words, Future Vision was not a Future Observation ability; it was an interference ability.

It predicted the future trajectory of events and returned to the starting point to intervene and alter the course of the future.

"It’s simple. You take the lead, I’ll cover you from behind. If not this warehouse, then the next," Chen Ke said vaguely.

Actually, it wasn’t entirely misleading; the first part was indeed true.

"I have to remind you... their firepower is fierce, and once we rush in, there’s no turning back. Don’t expect to just take a look and then run out," Ms. Harlowin stated.

"What do you mean?" Chen Ke asked.

"I don’t want to provoke another hundred people while having a hundred behind me," Ms. Harlowin responded, shaking her head.

"Where’s the safe? Can we see it from the door?" Chen Ke asked.

He was more concerned about this; if the safe wasn’t visible, implementing the plan would be problematic.

"It’s right on a table in the center of the warehouse, like bait, but getting there is not easy," Ms. Harlowin replied.

Placed so conspicuously... Chen Ke increasingly felt this setup was full of malicious intent.

A warehouse crammed with over a hundred armed adversaries, key items placed in the middle, and the heroine could infinitely resurrect with her memory retained, as if someone enjoyed watching her suffer repeatedly.

"I understand now; this plan will work," Chen Ke said.

"Then let’s not waste any more time, rookie." Ms. Harlowin walked to the side of the large warehouse door.

Chen Ke wondered if Ms. Harlowin intended to pry the door open with her hands. The door was comparable to that of an aircraft hangar, impossible to budge by human strength alone.

Fortunately, those who built the warehouse were sensible and installed a small door above the large one for easy access.

Ms. Harlowin gripped the handle of the small door, holding a gun in her other hand and glanced at Chen Ke. Chen Ke moved behind her, placing his left hand on her left shoulder, and his right hand held the Type 67.

He patted Ms. Harlowin’s shoulder and activated his Future Vision. Space and time around him warped, and he saw Ms. Harlowin turn the handle and violently shoulder the door open.

He saw himself following Ms. Harlowin into the warehouse, a dim grey space of concrete.

Inside, there was no lighting, filled only with the warm orange glow. In the center was a small table, which was completely empty.

Ms. Harlowin stopped abruptly, turned around to say something to Chen Ke, and just at that moment, dozens of armed adversaries appeared out of thin air, unleashing a barrage of 7.76mm bullets at the invaders.

Chen Ke took a deep breath and returned to reality.

Ms. Harlowin’s hand was still on the doorknob, and Chen Ke grabbed her.

"What’s wrong, rookie?" Ms. Harlowin turned to ask.

"Let’s switch to another warehouse," Chen Ke said.

Ms. Harlowin looked puzzled. She let go of the doorknob and turned to Chen Ke, adding, "If you’re not ready, we can wait a bit longer."

"No, no... I just suddenly have a feeling that what we’re looking for isn’t in there," Chen Ke said.

"Whatever you say, rookie. These three warehouses aren’t going anywhere; pick one," Ms. Harlowin said.

Chen Ke looked to his left; Warehouses 6 and 7 were nearby, but given the size of the warehouse, they were still a few minutes’ walk away.

"Let’s start with 6. It has the greatest possibility," Chen Ke said.

Ms. Harlowin, with no other option, sighed and followed Chen Ke’s lead toward Warehouse 6.

The two didn’t speak along the way. Chen Ke monitored the little white dots under his Killing Aura Bar—there were originally three, now only two remained, with one turned hollow.

Using Future Vision was incredibly powerful; after one use, it required a long wait to recover, but fortunately, he had three chances to use it like a high-level routine strategy.

Thinking this, Chen Ke felt he ought to reassess his combat abilities.
