Chapter 374: Chapter 374: The Storm is Coming

"I’m just Chen Ke, Diana, after what we went through together, I thought..." Chen Ke said.

"Don’t make me regret this, Chen Ke, don’t make me feel like an idiot in the future," Diana said.

"You seem to be doing alright now, huh? Are your wounds healing?" Chen Ke asked.

"My wounds left along with my abs. I’m trying hard to get them back!" Diana said.

"Are you talking about the wounds or..." Chen Ke touched his cheek.

"The abs! The abs! I hate how soft I am now!" Diana shouted angrily.

"Calm down... Diana... relax... Are you still at the Administration Bureau?" Chen Ke said.

"Of course, I got promoted. I’m also a level 9 agent now, and I’ve been transferred to the Great Void Observation Department, but I feel like everything at the bureau has changed... I really don’t like this feeling..." Diana said.

"First off, congratulations on your promotion, Diana. Regarding that woman you mentioned, thank you for reminding me, but I also have something to warn you about," Chen Ke said.

The woman Diana mentioned was probably Xu Jing.

"Oh? What’s that?" Diana asked.

"I don’t know how to say this... But in short, someone wants to kill you. If you’re not careful, you might not make it past October..." Chen Ke said.

He thought he’d find another opportunity to talk to Wang Ailin, better not let Diana know about it now, Chen Ke planned.

"Hahaha... Are you telling a dark joke?" Diana was somewhat incredulous.

"I’m not lying to you, I never joke about this, Diana. It might be a professional assassin, or something else..." Chen Ke said.

"Thank you, Chen Ke, I’ll be careful. I can take care of myself," Diana said with a smile.

"I’m not joking," Chen Ke said.

"Yes, yes, I can take care of myself. If you’re free, we could meet and play a few rounds at Golden Arthur," Diana said.

"You better not go out easily during this time..." Chen Ke cautioned.

"Sorry, Chen Ke, someone is knocking at my office door, I need to hang up now, we’ll talk later..." Diana suddenly said softly, then hung up the phone.

Chen Ke took a deep breath, clearly Diana had called him to avoid being overheard, but it seemed like she didn’t really believe his warning.

Chen Ke pocketed his phone and walked out of the restroom, heading back to his seat in the dining hall.

At that moment, he saw two waiters standing next to their table, handing tissues to Lucina.

"Hey? What’s going on?" Chen Ke hurried over.

"Sir, she just had a nosebleed," one of the waiters said.

"Ah?" Chen Ke was startled, raised Lucina’s left arm high, and asked her to tilt her head back.

Lucina, holding a blood-stained tissue, looked up at Chen Ke with a strange expression, a deep melancholy mixed with a hint of reluctance and fear, puzzling to perceive.

"It’s just a nosebleed, madam, you’re so robust... It’ll be fine," the waiter comforted.

"What did you eat last night?" Chen Ke asked.

Lucina didn’t respond, suddenly hugged Chen Ke, resting her ear against his chest, quietly listening.

"Then... sir, the restroom is over there, if needed, you can take her," the waiter, seeing Lucina being clingy to Chen Ke and not wanting to be a third wheel, put down the tissue box and left.

"Lucina?" Chen Ke said softly.

"Mm..." Lucina suddenly bent down, covering her mouth with a tissue.

She was about to vomit.

Chen Ke wanted to help, but Lucina pushed him away and ran towards the restroom.

The steak on the table was half-left, still smeared with blood. Chen Ke sat at his place waiting for Lucina to come out.

"You go ahead, I need some time alone," Lucina sent him a sudden text.

Chen Ke looked at his phone, thought for a moment, and replied, "Are you upset?"

"No... It’s worse than that. I need some time to think, you go ahead," Lucina quickly responded.

"I’ll be leaving first then..." Chen Ke replied.

Lucina didn’t respond, and Chen Ke settled the bill and left alone.

Meanwhile, at the Spiritual Ability Administration in Opportunity City.

An employee knocked on the office door, which bore a sign reading "Great Void Observation and Exploration Office."

"Come in." Diana hung up the phone.

The employee gently opened the door and said, "Ms. Diana, an agent from the FPI department is waiting for you downstairs."

"Is it a Black person?" Diana asked.

"Yes, his name seems to be Bader," the employee replied.

"I see," Diana said, rubbing the corners of her eyes.

Three minutes later.

When Diana came down from the 27th floor of the CPA department building, Bader was leaning against the doorway’s flowerbed, holding two cups of chocolate milkshake.

"Nice new hairstyle, quit being Wonder Woman and switched to Captain Marvel?" Bader handed over the milkshake to Diana, straws already inserted.

"What?" Diana took the milkshake, puzzled by the new moniker Bader mentioned.

"It’s another comic hero," Bader explained.

"Do you immerse yourself in those comics every time you get off work?" Diana frowned.

"Not entirely. You’ve been missing for a while, what have you been up to since the cookie factory case?" Bader asked, tilting his head and signaling Diana to walk with him.

The CPA building was right opposite the FPI building, with a small park in between, and they strolled under the shade of the trees.

"The Administration Bureau gave me a long vacation... then I got promoted," Diana sipped on her milkshake, creating an excuse.

The Administration Bureau hadn’t disclosed Diana’s detention, and few knew about her involvement in the subway incident; she didn’t want to discuss it with Bader.

"What about you, Bader? I heard you also took a long vacation," Diana looked at Bader, who was still dressed in his elegant suit, always meticulous.

"Yes, after the cookie factory, I was in the hospital, and they approved an extended vacation for me, but it seems like you got promoted," Bader said with a smile.

"I prefer fieldwork to sitting and doing clerical work in the office," Diana sighed.

"You’ll get used to it, higher position, higher salary, and more free time... honestly, I’m a bit envious," Bader said.

"You don’t need to be envious, you certainly don’t know what I’ve been through..." Diana said coldly.

"Oh... I believe your friend would be happy for you, right? That Asian lady," Bader said.

"She’s still in the hospital. I heard there was an incident at the institute involving a containment leak, but she was lucky and got rescued by P.W.A.T. I’m planning to fly to Norton City to see her in a few days," Diana sighed.

"No, no... I’m talking about the other one," Bader said with a smile.

"The other one?" Diana paused, puzzled, looking at Bader.

Had he met Chen Ke?

"Not your bestie, the guy," Bader said.

"The guy?" Diana asked cautiously, unsure if Bader was referring to Chen Ke. This matter was complicated, and Diana didn’t want too many to know.

"Yes, the guy. I saw you boarding the subway with him. He wouldn’t be your boyfriend, would he?" Bader asked.

"No, no..." Diana started to answer and then regretted it, indirectly admitting that she had boarded the subway with an Asian man, which directly pointed to the subway incident...

"You see... I was right," Bader smiled.

Diana stopped, looked at Bader, her eyes filled with suspicion.

The subway incident was classified as confidential by the Administration Bureau, accessible only to level 9 agents, top researchers, and some of the leadership. Bader’s clearance was high, but below Diana’s. How had he found out?

"What do you want to ask?" Diana asked.

"Your expression is kind of scary, Diana," Bader shook his head.

"Cut to the chase, buddy, what do you want to say?" Diana stared into Bader’s eyes.

Bader met Diana’s gaze, his smile fading, and he asked, "Where is Chen Ke?"
