Chapter 770: Chapter 626: Melted Wax Demon
When the horde of Undead Flying Insects swept over, the Demons that roamed this decaying grassland met their doom.
Ange Watson had chosen this location very astutely, as the Demons left here were nothing but lost dogs.
There was no semblance of order among Demons, so internal fighting was common.
Those Demons, defeated by their own kind and not yet devoured, would run off to some secluded and hostile places to lay low for a while.
This space, cloaked by the Chaos Black Sun, was vast, but finding a safe haven was not an easy task.
This putrid grassland was one such place, with rotting, foul-smelling soil and countless parasites. It just lacked any useful resources.
The Demons were too preoccupied with entering Space Gates to invade other worlds to care about this refuse area.
Thus, there weren’t many Demons in the grassland, and those that were there were mostly weak and cowardly, quickly cleaned up by the Undead Worms.
But Ange Watson discovered a special area more than thirty kilometers away from a Space Gate where large numbers of Undead Worms were dying, and the death toll was skyrocketing.
This indicated that the Demons in that region were extremely powerful, beyond what weak suicidal soldiers like the Undead Worms could handle.
Ange Watson surmised that there must be Demons with high Magic Resistance to Dark Magic Power in that area. Without the toxic effect, the Undead Flying Insects were virtually powerless.
It was time to send in the elite for cleanup.
Ange Watson immediately ordered Melina to lead a new type of Undead Troop to eradicate them.
Melina traditionally only had the standard Death Knights at her side. This Heavy Cavalry had a strong impact force, capable of dealing with the vast majority of Demons.
However, for extra caution, Ange Watson equipped Melina with a small Undead Warship and two unusually large Undead.
Those were the same "box-carrying" huge Undead that even Bayer couldn’t make sense of.
Also possessing a multi-legged structure, but much smaller in size compared to the Insect Nest, these Undead ran much faster, able to keep up with the charging Death Knights.
As the corrupted grasslands were flat with little undulation, Melina and her troop rushed forward and quickly neared the suspected gathering place of a large number of Demons.
The Undead Warship arrived close to the target first, displaying the scene below through the Magic Mirrors.
A quick glance told Ange Watson why the Undead Worms had failed to inflict damage—it was a huge Spider Nest.
The nest was covered in dense webs, with Spider eggs of varying sizes stacked like mountains on the plains, presumably with many pits dug inside, the depths of which were unknown.
Thousands of Spider Demons were frantically spinning webs, trapping the Undead Insects that flew by.
However, these insects didn’t taste very good, so the Spider Demons simply captured them, without stuffing them directly into their own mouths.
Melina also saw this scene and promptly ordered the Death Knights to change direction.
This kind of Spider Nest not only neutralized the Undead Insects, but the charge of the Death Knights would also be impacted. This was no ordinary webbing but hunting webs woven by Demons. The body size of the Spider Demons was even larger than the Death Knights, and these webs were likely stronger than steel wires; running headlong into it would mean severe losses for the Death Knights.
The Death Knights halted five kilometers away from the Spider Nest and cleared out nearby pests like Quassam Demons, then ordered the two giant box-carrying Undead to stop on the spot.
Like the Insect Nest, the stopped box-carrying Undead sank their sturdy legs deep into the underground, and a large slit opened in the massive box on their backs.
There was no honeycomb-like space inside, only Magic Mirrors embedded within the flesh.
Hundreds of large Magic Mirrors unfolded like solar panels, and the huge box transformed into a vast reflective surface.
Two mirrors, each with a diameter of forty to fifty meters, unfolded, and then massive Magic Power congregated atop them.
After just a few seconds of energy gathering, the first burst of light flew out from the mirror surface, followed by the second... These hundreds of Magic Mirrors cast Spells in rapid succession, sending dozens of upgraded Fireball Techniques toward the distant Spider Nest in just a few seconds.
The Spells in midair joined together, raining down on the Spider Nest several kilometers away like a meteor shower.
With the Undead Warship monitoring, Heavens Fire rained down, perfectly covering a quarter of the Spider Nest.
Although Fireball Technique was just a Three-Ring Magic, this was clearly an enhanced version, not only with exaggerated range but also with a power far more terrifying than the original.
The Spider Nest instantly caught fire. The webs, tougher than steel, were not fire-resistant, and even the thickest filaments couldn’t withstand the continuous burning flames.
Most of the Magic Attacks, however, hit empty air, evidently, the accuracy wasn’t very high.
But before the Spider Demons had time to react, the Undead, stationed several kilometers away, began adjusting their aim, correcting their angles based on the images transmitted from the Undead Warship, and launched another volley of Fireball Techniques. This time, they almost flipped over half of the Spider Nest.
The barrage also blew many of the Spider Demons to pieces.
Demon Magic Resistance might be strong, but it couldn’t withstand such dense and sustained bombardment.
Mages capable of casting such enhanced Fireball Techniques were rare, and it was even less likely for them to coordinate tacitly and strike with Magic from such a distance.
