Chapter 750: Chapter 619: Accompany Me to Hell
Bayer knelt before Amberser, his heart still unwilling.
A mere mortal, merely relying on the power of Hell to suppress himself. Amberser knew that Bayer didn’t accept this, but it didn’t matter, as he had felt the same way about Zariel. He had thought it a disgrace to be subdued by an angel, yet he had ended up serving Zariel for so many years.
This guy was just a bully who targeted the weak and feared the strong. Amberser wasn’t afraid of being attacked; at most, this illusory body would be killed by Bayer, but Amberser would still be the spirit of the Magic Mirror, and his true form wouldn’t be hurt.
Amberser asked, "Bayer, have you checked on the demon my followers captured, as I asked you to?"
Bayer hesitated and said awkwardly, "Sorry, the battle lines were tense just now, and I haven’t had the chance to check."
Amberser snorted coldly, piercing through Bayer’s little scheme, "I see you didn’t take my words to heart."
It only took a snap of the fingers, and Bartle and that demon were already transferred in front of Amberser.
Such was the power of the World Laws. The first layer of Hell was Amberser’s Divine Realm, making this kind of spatial transfer all too simple.
Seeing Amberser’s prompt action, Bartle was momentarily stunned, then recognized the greatly transformed Amberser.
Bartle knelt on the ground, addressing Amberser, "Great Bone God! Your humble follower offers you this peculiar demon, whom we could hardly harm."
Amberser picked up the creature that looked like a red-faced baboon and examined it closely.
The creature had only one wound, from the chest to the back, a through-and-through injury inflicted by some sharp weapon; one could clearly see the internal organs moving. Normally, with a demon’s regenerative abilities, such a wound would have healed long before unless it was immediately fatal. Yet, this wound seemed freshly inflicted, the cut so smooth that not even half a meat bud could be seen, and the blood had almost dried up without scabbing.
Amberser couldn’t see anything special at first, but suddenly, Bayer gasped, "The Beast Lord Mala?! You’ve captured an Abyss Lord?!"
"Mala?" Amberser had some recollection of this name, and after pondering, he blurted out, "Isn’t he one of the allies of the Rose Spider Queen?"
After Rose betrayed Corellon, she became a deity of the Evil Camp as well as one of the demons. One layer in the Endless Abyss was called the Deep Pit Magic Net, precisely the territory of the Rose Spider Queen.
It seemed that Mala was also one of the Abyss Lords, though this Abyss Lord had little talent, at most possessing weak divine power. Amberser couldn’t even remember which layer of the Abyss was his territory; he had only heard this name when looking up information on Rose.
But how could Mala, a deity, be captured by a mere Mercury Avatar?
Amberser quickly asked Bartle, "What exactly happened? Bartle, tell me everything in detail."
Bartle hastily explained the whole situation.
Shortly before Zariel went mad, Bartle and his Mercury Avatars had imitated demons to capture some for demonic experiments.
Not only was Bartle clever, but he was also brave. Amberser didn’t even know how he dared to take dozens of Mercury Avatars and charge into an army of hundreds of thousands of demons.
Even if it was just to capture a few isolated demons, it was a risky gamble.
Yet, it turned out to be a success.
He actually managed to capture quite a few mindless demons using bait; Mala was one of them, captured quite casually without noticing anything special.
But just after bringing these demons back to the Mercury River, the demon pursuers arrived, in unexpectedly large numbers.
Usually, once the Mercury Avatars submerged to the bottom of the Mercury River, the demons would stop pursuing.
Sinking into the mercury was no simple task; mercury’s buoyancy was so great that even solid iron balls tied to the body would float on the surface.
But this time was different. For this special demon, those pursuers started bombarding the Mercury River with magic and even prepared to dam the flow to capture Bartle’s group.
Out of necessity, Bartle had to retreat temporarily with his Mercury Avatars, initially intending to also bring the special demon back. However, this demon couldn’t pass through the spatial gate.
The reason was simple; this demon had exceeded the spatial gate’s capacity, not being an ordinary demon.
Forced to, Bartle could only immediately seek help from a deity.
Far away in the Divine Realm of the Evil Silver Gradient, everything was immediately reported to Amberser, asking the "Bone God" to intervene.
At the time, Amberser had only heard a rough account and thought that Bartle had carelessly provoked a large army of demons. He then charged Bayer to help, unclear on the specific details.
"How did you repel that demon army without Bayer’s help?" Amberser curiously asked.
Bartle calmly replied, "I summoned the projection of the lord of the Evil Silver Gradient."
Amberser nearly popped his eyes out in shock and asked, "You... summoned... my Lord of Hell, you became a priest and performed Divine Intervention?!"
The Evil Silver Gradient was a bona fide Racial God. To summon a deity to descend was a power belonging to priests.
Sure enough, after carefully asking, Amberser discovered that Bartle had successfully become the first priest of the Mercury Avatar race.
