Chapter 728: Chapter 611: Chaotic Ritual, Fate’s Arrangement_2
"Ha, don’t be nervous, your time to offer has come."
The pale elf, with the Dwarf King in tow, walked deep into the castle, quickly arriving in front of a huge Magic Array.
Thirteen cages, crafted by Magic Power, were distributed around the Magic Array, seemingly part of some vile ritual—just one glance made the Dwarf King feel dizzy and nauseous, as if his soul was about to be drawn into it.
"Alright, the third cage on the right, that’s your spot, go inside."
The completely controlled Dwarf King walked into the cage without hesitation and locked himself in.
It was only then that he realized that more than half of the thirteen cages were already filled with prisoners.
A Lady Knight with a scarred face, a Devil with a body full of modifications, an Orc lying on the ground with a vacant stare, an old man draped in the robes of an Alchemist... It seemed like all Races and all statuses were present, and each one remained motionless.
Only three of the thirteen cages remained empty. The Dwarf King had no idea who these people were. Could it be that, like him, they were all servants of a great Deity?
He was about to ask when the cages lit up with bursts of light, and he was suddenly rigid, frozen within his cage.
The pale elf walked to the center of the Magic Array, drawing an abundance of Magic Power lines with his hands, reconnecting the newly closed cages. An invisible Power was extracted from the Dwarf King’s body, flowing into the center of the Magic Array.
Instantly, the light of Magic Power grew more distinct, as if the invisible malice was coming to life.
"Very good, the malice is of quite high quality. A noble King, greedy, selfish, cowardly, and somewhat stupid, combined with a fate of being repeatedly deceived and toyed with—just tightened the noose around the Lich’s neck again. Now, only three to go."
The pale elf moved to one of the empty cages, murmuring to himself: "The purest love must be deeply etched in the heart when betrayed and deceived. That Princess is a bit troublesome, Talos is not so easy to deal with, but as long as I am careful..."
He then walked to the second empty cage and murmured again: "A life beyond the mortal realm, deceived by mortals time and again. Though it’s not possible to truly imprison a deity in here, the deal has been made. The Goddesses are willing to offer their hatred and memories. No problems there."
Finally, he arrived at the center of the Magic Array, at the largest cage, which was also empty.
He switched to a different tone and said: "The hardest one, betrayal without reason. All the others are victims deceived by the Lich, but this one must be someone who benefited from the Lich, has close ties with him, and is willing to betray him. The Deceiver ultimately betrayed by a loved one—that sort of malice is what will make this ritual complete. Sigh, the Lich has plenty of enemies; that part is easy. But finding someone who would betray the Lich, that’s really not easy."
This was an extremely vicious Magic ritual, the only method the Prince of Lies, Hircine, could conceive of to deal with Amberser. Given Amberser’s current exceptional state as the Mirror Spirit, there was no way to harm him through conventional means.
The essence of the Magic Mirror was stored in the Divine Realm of the God of Alchemy, and even in his heyday, Hircine could not simply break open another’s Divine Realm and directly steal the Divine Artifact within, let alone now when he had just regained his sanity and lost most of his Power.
Previously, he tried to use the Magic Mirror to curse Amberser, twisting all information Amberser came into contact with. But deceiving a professional deceiver is not that easy. Amberser quickly noticed something wrong and broke the curse time and again.
Hircine was also at a loss; the world had never seen a special Divine Artifact like the Magic Mirror, and he had not anticipated that someone would willingly turn themselves into its Instrument Spirit. Alchemy is truly a troublesome thing; even the Power of divinity could not completely resolve it.
After much thought, Hircine used his own wisdom to create this vicious ritual.
It was a curse that could directly affect Amberser’s Soul, and the effect of the curse was simple: chaos, pure and utter chaos.
Once the ritual was complete, Amberser would no longer be able to receive any normal information from the outside world. Sounds would be twisted into meaningless mumbles or directly jumbled and randomly pieced-together words; colors would become tainted, like smeared paints that could no longer clearly represent their original shapes.
Be it touch or mental perception, all means of sensing the outside world would be interfered with, and there would be no pattern to this interference. As a result, Amberser would be forever imprisoned in a lonely cage.
It was an exceedingly cruel torment, more miserable than what one experienced as one of the Undead.
After a slightly longer time, anyone would fall into madness.
Hircine could not find a way to kill Amberser, so he could only destroy him in this manner. The result was the same; once Amberser fell into this pure chaos, the so-called Deceiver would be reduced to an idiot.
However, the conditions for activating this ritual were extremely strict.
The location alone had to be closely related to Amberser. This castle was exactly where Amberser had reincarnated as a Lich, and ever since Isabel moved away, the castle had been completely vacant.
With a little manipulation, Hircine turned this castle into a secret base for conducting the ritual.
Then came the thirteen offerings, all of whom had to be closely related to Amberser, all had to have been deceived by Amberser, with deeply entwined fates, and the contents of their deception could not be the same.
