Chapter 724: Chapter 610 Inside and Outside Coordination
The Dwarf Capital descended into utter chaos.
No one knew where this group of Nightmare Knights had come from, or how they had managed to enter the Royal Capital directly.
Even for the newly built capital, defensive and detection Magic Arrays were the most basic features; it was unthinkable that a horde of devils could appear within the city undetected.
But the Nightmare Knights didn’t give the Dwarves any chance to react.
Ange Watson, wielding his Flame Riding Spear, led the charge. Previously, he was merely a Commander, with modest combat abilities, unfit to lead a charge.
But after his demonic transformation, his body was implanted with a Hell Engine.
His heart was boiling and burning, his immense Magic Power transforming into strength, making him incredibly powerful.
Not even the Dwarf Iron Guards, sturdy in stature and wielding large shields, could withstand Ange Watson’s assault. He smashed a gap in their shield wall, which the Nightmare Knights’ flaming hooves trampled over mercilessly.
The cavalry behind him quickly widened the breach, throwing the Dwarves’ ranks into disarray.
Unfortunately, the Dwarves were too fond of grandeur; the main road leading from the city gates to the front of the Royal Palace was so wide that twenty carriages could travel abreast, the surface paved with large, flat stones. After exiting the Goblin Bank, the Nightmare Knights were a mere thirty meters from this broad avenue, a short sprint away.
On such a straight path, no cavalry charge could be resisted.
The ambush was too swift; the Dwarves had no time to prepare their defenses, and with little loss, Ange Watson had already reached the main gate of the Royal Palace.
However, they couldn’t charge any further here.
The palace gates were iron-bound with gold, exceedingly thick, and reinforced with numerous Defensive Magical Effects. Most likely locked tight with mechanisms, they were impossible to break through by ramming.
The Dwarves on the palace walls had readied themselves, with bows and Magic poised to strike a heavy blow to these devils.
Ange Watson raised his lance high, and behind him, the Nightmare Knights pulled their reins in unison, coming to a steady halt just beyond the Dwarves’ firing range.
This distance was extremely frustrating for the Dwarf Commanders on the walls.
If only Ange Watson advanced slightly, they could have unleashed their Magic and arrows for a long-range barrage, but they were just short. How long could the gathered Magic Power be maintained? How long could the warriors with drawn bows hold?
How did this group of devils precisely gauge the Dwarves’ optimal firing range?
What they didn’t realize was that all these devils were once Ryan Paladins, and they had waged many wars against the Dwarves.
Although their previous invasion was unwarranted, now they were aiding the legitimate High Mountain Clan of the Dwarves to overthrow the Vampires, which could be seen as righteous retribution. It was ironic that they had fought an unjust war as Paladins but now, having transformed into devils, they were fighting for justice.
Although Ange Watson felt a tinge of poignancy, as an outstanding Commander, he knew he should focus on the war at hand.
He quickly gave orders to Amberser, "Master Davian, the defense system of the Dwarf Kingdom requires your help to break through; otherwise, a mere surprise attack will not suffice."
Amberser nodded and flew his Heavy Mecha to the forefront of the Nightmare Knights.
Crossing that invisible line of firing range, the Dwarves didn’t know what this giant black Mecha was, but regardless, they decided to bomb it first.
Arrows and Magic flew towards Amberser all at once, seemingly obscuring half the sky.
Amberser chuckled and lightly grasped at the sky with his right hand.
A whirlwind formed instantly, sweeping up the enchantment-laden Arrows and colliding with flying Magic, bursting into brilliant fireworks mid-air.
The Dwarves’ long-prepared first wave of attack was thus neutralized by Amberser, but this was only the beginning.
The whirlwind did not subside, transforming into a tornado that swept towards the Royal Palace.
As it approached, the palace’s sky lit up with an energy shield covered in runes. The Dwarf Palace’s Defensive Magic system was activated, blocking the tornado outside.
Even a Legendary Mage couldn’t breach a national-level Magic defense with a single Spell, so the Dwarves on the walls remained unflustered.
But they misunderstood one thing—Amberser was not merely a Legendary Mage.
The tornado clashed with the Magic defense shield, causing continuous flashes in the sky, followed by droplets of highly corrosive acid appearing within the tornado, instantly filling the air with an unforgettable stench.
It was then that the Dwarves realized something was amiss.
This wasn’t just a simple tornado; it was the harbinger of a Revenge Storm.
The Revenge Storm, a Ninth Circle Spell, was known for its wide coverage and devastating impact on cities, unlike the notoriously inaccurate Starburst. The storm, acid rain, Thunder, and various other natural disasters would follow, varying depending on the Spellcaster’s own Magic Power level.
The stronger the Magic Power, the more intense the natural disasters that could be unleashed.
But no matter how powerful the Mage, how could one cast a Revenge Storm while clad in Heavy Armor and forego Chanting?
Was this something a mortal could achieve?
They didn’t know that Amberser had once received the Lord of the Storm’s blessing, granting him the ability to use the Revenge Storm once daily without cost. This Divine Art, bestowed by Talos, had already surpassed the limits of mortals.
