Chapter 715: Chapter 607 Sudden Awakening
And it is the most reliable wish that the Wishing Spell can fulfill.
Many people wish for great power or something else and often get played by the World Laws, ending up with some nasty side effects that stick with them, irreversibly.
But death is a very straightforward wish; just make it clear that your target should die right now, perhaps add a few details about the death, and there’s usually no room for surprises.
The World Laws would be very willing to help you with this problem.
After all, if you hate someone enough to use the Wishing Spell to kill them, the price you pay should ensure an appropriate return.
But killing the Dwarf King, this choice was truly incomprehensible to Gustavo Flint.
What kind of grudge did this person have against the Dwarf King, and why kill the Dwarf King, and especially before the All Nations Conference?
"May I know the reason?" Gustavo Flint asked.
Seth Yuri replied with a smile, "Which reason are you referring to? The reason Donald cooperates with me, or the reason I want to kill the Dwarf King?"
"If possible, I would like to know everything, including your identity."
Gustavo Flint was just too curious. Who exactly was this mysterious Dwarf proficient in Natural Magic, appearing out of nowhere—could he be a fugitive member of the Royal Family? Surely not the cliche tale of a prince seeking revenge?
Seth Yuri fell silent for a moment, then said, "That’s a long story. Have you heard of the Highland Dwarves race?"
Gustavo Flint thought for a moment, then answered, "They seem to be a branch of the ancient Dwarves, but I heard they’ve been extinct for a long time."
"Not exactly extinct. I am a descendant of the High Mountain Clan; we’ve just assimilated into the Desert Dwarves. We have always maintained our heritage and culture. Even though we don’t have much presence, we value our faith more than the Desert Dwarves.
"Our High Mountain Clan are the proud children of Moradin, and that has never changed."
"When the Dwarf Kingdom was forced by Laine to open its gates and allow the immigration of Foreign Races, my Ancestors strongly opposed it but were bloodily suppressed by the Desert Dwarves then, nearly eradicating our High Mountain Clan. Even though we failed, we understood it was a temporary necessity for the Dwarf Kingdom. The threat of Laine was indeed serious. Since we lost the fight, we had to accept the reality and continue to live, delving into obscurity within the Kingdom.
"However, we never anticipated that the downfall of the Dwarf Kingdom began with the absorption of Foreign Races. Our faith became impure, and some Dwarves even started worshiping the deities of other Races. By Moradin, how dare they commit such sacrilegious acts?"
Seth Yuri’s face showed a look of anger; it was clear that he truly despised these present-day Dwarves. Faith is a peculiar thing. Those who don’t care for it, like Amberser, can easily discard it, but those who hold it dear would sacrifice everything for their Deity.
Seth Yuri couldn’t accept the corruption of the Dwarf Kingdom’s faith, but he was too weak, and so was the Desert Kingdom.
From his birth, the Desert Dwarves had always appeared half-dead. Seth Yuri had thought about purging the Kingdom from its poisons, acting as an antibody, but he also feared that any attempt from his part could plunge the Kingdom into civil war and lead to its complete downfall.
This wasn’t arrogant; Seth Yuri was the leader of this generation’s High Mountain Clan. Despite being hidden for many years, they could still muster an army, and at a critical moment, strike at the very heart of this frail Kingdom.
But Seth Yuri didn’t intend to destroy the Kingdom. He just wanted to put the Kingdom back on track. That’s why when the Dwarf Kingdom was driven from the desert by Laine, Seth Yuri remained inactive.
He awaited an opportunity, hoping for a turnaround, aspiring to seize the highest authority of the Kingdom while ensuring its survival.
However, subsequent events unfolded too quickly, and the gravely ill Dwarf King suddenly recovered, effortlessly capturing the domain of Alchemy City as if reborn from the ashes.
Seth Yuri was both pleased and unwilling but had to continue his subterfuge.
"I thought to myself that I was young and that opportunities would come. But just as I believed the Dwarf Kingdom was returning to the right path, I suddenly sensed a divine revelation from Moradin." Seth Yuri clenched his fist, suppressing his fury, "The current Dwarf King has turned into a Vampire! To survive, he didn’t just forsake his faith, but he also degraded to an Undead Creature! This is a disgrace, the greatest shame for us Dwarves!"
Gustavo Flint’s eyelids twitched, but he didn’t appear too surprised.
Taking a deep breath, Seth Yuri quickly regained his composure. Seeing Gustavo Flint’s reaction, he asked, "It seems, Master Flynn, that you’ve known about this already."
Gustavo Flint answered, "I had my suspicions. I’ve met the Dwarf King a few times, and many details about Vampires are quite easy to distinguish. But I had no evidence, just suspicions."
Becoming a Legendary Alchemist usually meant dealing with "Vampire Ashes" and "Vampire Fangs", two alchemical ingredients essential to making invisible potions, and basic components for many advanced Alchemical Potions.
