Chapter 706: Chapter 603: Impossible Task

After his rebirth, Amberser hadn’t personally taken part in combat for a long time.

As the spirit of the Magic Mirror, Amberser’s magic power was provided by all the Magic Mirrors, while also maintaining the Krypton Gold spell casting ability of the Golden Throne.

For the first time facing Demons, Amberser took a two-pronged approach for the sake of caution.

It turned out that Amberser’s prudence was justified; these Demons showed puzzled expressions as soon as they entered the Illusion Realm.

If they had been completely befuddled, they wouldn’t have realized they were under the influence of an illusion technique.

The Demons’ change in expression was due to an instinctual sense that something was amiss.

These winged Demons, however, looked like a hybrid of wild boars and orangutans; the upper half of their faces were orangutan, while the lower half were wild boars with protruding fangs. Their bodies were stout and strong, and although their wings were short, a few flaps were enough to allow rapid flight.

Amberser vaguely remembered these kind of Demons were called something with "Nash," but he couldn’t recall the exact name, so he simply gave them an easy-to-remember name—Flying Pig Monkeys.

A single one of these Demons let loose in the Prime Material Plane could cause a massacre, and ordinary armies would have a hard time dealing with these thick-skinned flyers.

But the number of Flying Pig Monkeys before him was over a hundred; if let loose, even Laine would have to dispatch his most elite Paladin Legion to stand a chance, and there would still be significant casualties.

However, compared to the teeming hordes of Demons in the distance, these hundred or so... were probably no more significant than a drop in the ocean.

This was the true Abyss, the true bloodbath, and the wars in the Mortal Realm were simply child’s play in comparison.

Amberser finally understood why most of Aeo’s rules targeted only the Prime Material Plane—for this place was truly a cradle of life, and those who lived here were like babies in swaddling clothes.

Aeo gave these infants some protection to prevent them from being easily crushed by creatures from other planes.

However, these reflections lasted only a second or two before Amberser focused on controlling the group of Demons, causing them to run around lost in the Illusion Realm, unable to find their way.

But this situation couldn’t last too long. Demons are creatures of impatience and chaotic evil; once they couldn’t find a way out for a long time, they would go mad and start attacking everything around them viciously.

By then, the Illusion Realm might not hold.

While the Flying Pig Monkeys were still clueless, Amberser ordered Bartle, "Catch a few; dead or alive doesn’t matter."

Amberser only needed intelligence; capturing a few would suffice.

Bartle also understood Amberser’s requirements and immediately summoned his companions to charge towards those Demons.

With the cover of illusions, the Flying Pig Monkeys didn’t detect the approach of the Mercury Avatars. Bartle reached the foot of a Flying Pig Monkey and realized that just one of the Demon’s feet was nearly as big as his entire body, and those thick hide and flesh looked like they wouldn’t be easy to kill.

After a moment of thought, Bartle said to his companions, "You two seal its wings, the rest cooperate with me and follow my commands."

Bartle’s rotund body rapidly transformed into a thin layer and, just as the Flying Pig Monkey lifted its foot, whooshed underneath it.

The massive Demon felt it stepped on something slick and began to lose balance.

It tried hard to flap its stubby wings to stabilize itself, but just as it beat its wings a couple of times, two Mercury Avatars pounced on its back and wrapped up the wings with their bodies.

The heavy body made the wings feel as though they were trapped in viscous fluid, completely unable to flap, and then several more Mercury Avatars appeared under the Demon’s feet, rolling the colossal creature towards the Mercury River like wheels.

The off-balance Demon had just started to struggle when it found itself rolling over, plunging into the Mercury River.

Although the Demon’s body was strong, it was not denser than mercury, so the moment it fell into the Mercury River, it floated on the surface. Opening its mouth to shout resulted in inhaling a large amount of mercury vapor, causing it to howl in pain.

Taking the opportunity, Bartle drilled into the Demon’s mouth, squeezing straight into its throat.

Having never encountered a creature that actively crawled into its mouth, the Flying Pig Monkey tried to scratch it out but caught nothing. Instead, in its struggle, it rolled over, dipping its entire head into the Mercury River.

The Mercury Avatars leapt on it one after another, burrowing into every hole they could, and in moments, burst the Demon from within.

Like Giant Dragons, these creatures had tough outer skin, but their internal organs were not so strong. Once the Mercury Avatars burrowed inside the Demon, they expanded like sea urchins, easily shredding the innards.

However, by the time they emerged from the Demon’s corpse, their bodies were tainted with odd colors.

Demon blood was highly toxic, and although the Mercury Avatars had strong Magic Resistance, they were not completely immune.

Fortunately, the vast Mercury River was nearby, and Bartle could use the river to recover briefly.

And, at the moment of the Demon’s death, Amberser had already captured its Soul.

Meanwhile, Bartle and his companions, heedless of their injuries, continued to charge at the second Flying Pig Monkey.

Amberser maintained the Illusion Realm while watching the Mercury Avatars bravely rush toward the swarm of Demons.

One after another, the Demons were sent into the Mercury River and killed. The toxins accumulated more and more on Bartle and the other Mercury Avatars, affecting their movements, but Amberser saw no sign of retreat in these Avatars. They did not express pain or hesitation but maintained their eagerness, as if executing Amberser’s orders was more important than their own life safety.
