Chapter 700: Chapter 600 Zariel Wants to Go Home

Sometimes, when one has been consumed by darkness for too long, even they can forget who they were before the transformation.

Zariel was no different.

Having been a devil for so long, she had forgotten that she was once an angel.

At first, the commotion of the Hell Law filled her with panic, and in her fright, Zariel fought a great battle at the Blood River, even killing a manifestation of Dimogorgen, to barely stabilize her power.

But as this power was continuously stripped away, Zariel felt an odd sense of relief.

Perhaps, relinquishing the power of Hell was a good thing for her?

Zariel hadn’t entered Hell as a deserter from Heaven Mountain; she was a renowned warrior there, betrayed and cornered before she fell into Hell, where after great torment, she became what she was today.

Hatred grew within her day by day, and along with the power of the Hell Law, she was gradually transformed into a wicked and violent fallen angel.

But the essence of Zariel was still that of an angel, a holy being from Heaven Mountain.

As the power of Hell waned, the memories of being an angel began to surface, not with hatred and resentment, but nostalgia.

Those days on Heaven Mountain were so wonderful.

There were flowers and fine silks, whereas her current abode was only of lava and wailing.

Zariel used to delight in hearing those sinners’ screams; punishment and torment were the eternal themes of Hell, but now they made Zariel feel nauseated.

How long had she fallen?

Zariel could no longer discern the years; the flow of time in Hell wasn’t constant, and the existence of the Nether River affected the stability of the first layer of Hell at any moment.

Space and time could be distorted in the fierce wars, so often time was meaningless.

What truly mattered were her feelings and memories.

Zariel reminisced everything about Heaven Mountain and was eager to return there.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t that simple.

Initially, Zariel was a captive, an angel bound in Hell, who could return directly to Heaven Mountain once her bonds were undone. But now, she was a devil.

Even if she transferred all the power of the first layer’s master to Amberser, she would still be a fallen angel, a devil who could not enter Heaven Mountain. At that point, she would become just a being of Class God Power, potentially becoming Amberser’s servant, or even prisoner.

Therefore, Zariel did not simply let her power drain away; she needed to make more preparations.

To return to Heaven Mountain, three problems had to be resolved: the first was her identity, as fallen angels cannot enter Heaven Mountain and she needed to fully return to an angel’s form.

The second problem was that Heaven Mountain had to agree to her return, for if the gates did not open, no angel could go back.

The third problem, and the one that worried Zariel the most, was the Lord of Hell Asmodeus, who lay in slumber. Should the rule of the first layer of hell change hands, such a significant event would surely wake him. Once he arose from his slumber, she would have no chance to escape.

No one could contend with Asmodeus in Hell; if Zariel tried to flee, she would be crushed instantly.

So, Zariel needed to communicate with Heaven Mountain in advance, regain her angel form the instant the authority was transferred, and then open the gateway back to Heaven Mountain.

Regaining her angel form was difficult for Zariel, but she had a plan and was now slowly repairing her shattered body, reshaping the heart of an angel.

But contacting Heaven Mountain was the real challenge.

Over the years, Zariel had completely severed all relations with Heaven Mountain. She wasn’t an undercover agent; she was one who had fallen and become a true devil after being captured. How could she obtain forgiveness from the deities of Heaven Mountain, compelling them to tear through Hell’s seals and bring back Zariel?

Zariel had no answer to this problem.

But regardless, she had to strive in this direction.

"That guy seems to have obtained the Lord of the Dawn’s approval; perhaps, I’ll have to make another deal with that greedy bastard."

Zariel detested Amberser to the point of grinding her teeth, but she was well aware that this mortal’s connections now extended to the heavens, literally.

Heaven Mountain was a vast plane, countless orderly and benevolent Deity’s Divine Realms closely linked with it. The Lord of the Dawn, Rosanda, and the God of Justice, Tyr, were two notably famous ones.

It was because of so many righteous and benevolent deities constantly influencing this plane that it had Heaven Mountain’s reputation; it was truly no different from Heaven.

Amberser’s connection with the Lord of the Dawn was a literal direct line to Heaven, and there had never been a Lich who could communicate with both Heaven and Hell.

Zariel hated Amberser, but she had no doubts about this bastard’s abilities.

All who looked down on Amberser and the gods stumbled before him, while all who sincerely cooperated with him profited immensely. Despite Mammon’s blustering appearance as if he was about to turn on Amberser, in reality, the Hell Bank was still providing him with massive wealth; Mammon was merely venting, and actually pulling out of the partnership was out of the question.

But Zariel now realized she had been quite unkind to Amberser; having to request his aid, she really didn’t know what terms that guy would propose. And Zariel found that apart from the power of the first layer of hell, it seemed she had nothing else valuable to offer.
