Chapter 696: Chapter 598: Reputation Crisis Part 2

"It’s indeed not easy to maintain the cognitive abilities of the undead who have relinquished their obsessions."

Amberser was helpless too; Big Black and Husky, the two test subjects, were not faring well. Merely changing the soul material did little to affect their Free Will. In a year or two, these two guys would slowly turn into drooling zombies, so for the time being, they could only maintain their thinking abilities by sleeping for extended periods.

Aige said to Amberser, "I can help, but there might be significant risks, so I don’t want to give Rose false hope. I’d like to talk to you, an expert in soul matters, first."

Amberser realized suddenly, thinking it was some secret but it turned out to be this.

"What’s your method?" Amberser asked curiously.

Aige explained, "Using my Deity Position, if I can successfully become the God of Freedom, then my power should be able to liberate the bound souls, just like the Kuotuo Murloc. I can grant them true Free Will, unaffected by the body. The undead need obsessions because their bodies, unlike those of the living, lack other sensations to support the existence of the soul.

"Perhaps, I could also restore freedom to Rose’s soul."

Amberser thought for a moment and suddenly felt it might work.

"Why didn’t I think of that? It really might succeed, but is there any danger?" Amberser asked.

Aige said somewhat awkwardly, "Perhaps, this freedom might be too overwhelming. Remember the two Kuotuo Murlocs you released initially? You even gave them cumbersome and obscure names."

"Benboerba and Baboleben?"

Amberser did remember, mostly because those two names were part of his unique memories that no one else knew the meaning of.

Aige nodded and explained, "They were the first batch of Kuotuo Murlocs to awaken their Free Will, but it seems their definition of freedom was quite different. Recently, due to dissatisfaction with the new doctrines, they nearly killed Hake Stone."

Amberser’s eyes widened.

"No, really? Isn’t that dwarf your appointed Pope? They dared to lay hands on the Pope?"

Hake Stone had been writing doctrines for Aige, considered the first choice for Pope. The other Kuotuo Murlocs should have treated him with utmost respect.

"That’s the problem with unrestricted freedom; rules seem to have no effect on them. The Murlocs are interpreting freedom in their own way. Although their faith is still devout, the doctrines written by Hake Stone can’t satisfy all Kuotuo Murlocs. And such dissatisfaction might be just an argument elsewhere, but in the eyes of these two Murlocs, they believe they can use any method to amend the doctrines, including assassination."

Aige smiled and continued, "Fortunately, the two of them aren’t very capable, and Hake Stone, after all, is a Legendary Vampire, so he’s safe. But it’s a concerning matter. Wanting to spread my own doctrines will not be easy; freedom cannot be absolute freedom, or it will only lead to destruction."

Amberser really had his eyes opened to something new. Wasn’t this just like the nation of unbridled gun violence from his past life?

Indeed, everything has two sides. The Deity Position of freedom is too broad, and Aige probably can’t control it.

Aige continued to explain, "That’s why I haven’t tried using my current power to heal Rose. I’m afraid I’ll directly affect her personality, leading to irreversible consequences. But now, as her husband, I can seek your opinion. After my Deification, I want to make Rose my Chosen of God and grant her soul’s freedom with the true power of the God of Freedom.

"There may be unpredictable outcomes. What do you think?"

Aige’s question was difficult for Amberser to answer, but he understood that only he could make decisions for Rose now. She was sleeping longer and longer, barely able to maintain normal thinking abilities outside of the Connected Dream Realm.

Under these circumstances, she could not answer Aige’s question or weigh the risks involved. No wonder Aige wanted Amberser to keep this secret from Withered Rose for now. Telling her would only add to her spiritual burden.

Amberser said helplessly, "I can’t answer right now, but I have another plan. If Rose still can’t resolve her soul’s issues in the end, I’ll find a way to have her sign a pact with the Devil, so that her soul falls into Hell. Once in Hell, I have ways to transform her into a demon, be it a Cambion or Succubus, or even just an ordinary Little Demon. As long as this transformation is completed, she can regain normal thought."

This was Amberser’s last resort, but he did not want to proceed unless absolutely necessary.

Aige’s eyes sparkled with amazement, "It seems you’re really doing well in Hell. Do you have the confidence to protect her there?"

Amberser shook his head and said, "Actually, it’s like walking on thin ice. So, unless it’s the last moment, I don’t want to take this step. I’m not yet capable of precisely transporting the soul to a designated location in Hell, and if those Grand Dukes of the Devils get wind of this, they’ll surely intervene. Hell’s authority is in their hands, and they have too many ways to manipulate it."

Amberser was being watched by everyone now. Any plan he made would be noticed, and there was almost no chance of complete secrecy. The moment Withered Rose were to fall into Hell, countless Devils lusting after her soul would be impossible to count.
