Chapter 668: Chapter 583: Two Children
Various colors of magic runes crisscrossed on the silver Slime’s body, lighting up brightly; the once so weak that it couldn’t maintain its own form, the Mercury Avatar rose from the scattered fragments on the ground.
Thin, sharp blades grew out of its body, and in an instant, this plump little guy turned as terrifying as a spider.
The runes glowed crimson, like the compound eyes of a spider, staring intently at the group of Subterranean Dwarves before it.
"Die!"
This little guy who had been tormented for days, let out the first furious roar of his life!
A massive fireball burst forth, blowing three Subterranean Dwarves to pieces, and the spreading flames ignited the underground darkness, startling the remaining Subterranean Dwarves.
After their shock, they one by one raised their weapons and charged toward the Mercury Avatar.
Coming from races that eked out a living underground, almost none were weaklings. In this dark underground, anything slightly fragile would have long been devoured and wiped out by others.
Arrows fell on the Mercury Avatar, but lost power half an inch into its body and then slid off.
Bows and arrows without enchantment effects were too weak to cause any harm.
And the Lightning Arrows cast by the Dwarf Mages only made the Mercury Avatar’s movements pause momentarily, but that was all.
Amberser, the Legendary, had headaches over the Magic Resistance of the Mercury Avatar; how could these clumsy Dwarf Mages cause any damage? If it hadn’t been for his previous prolonged metal deprivation-induced weakness, how could these Subterranean Dwarves have captured him?
The Mercury Avatar remembered how it had been captured, roasted by fire and immersed in water, beaten repeatedly, and finally left on the brink of death. Now, with the blessing of the Deity, it was time to return all the harm to them.
The crimson runes on its body flashed, switching to blue-white light, and then large patches of electric light shone from the Mercury Avatar.
Chain Lightning, this terrifying spell, bounced repeatedly among the enemies, turning swathes of Subterranean Dwarves into charred remains.
Immediately after, the Mercury Avatar swung its sharp claws, leaving pits in the ground with its spider-like extremities. The Mercury Avatar rushed towards those Subterranean Dwarves with extreme speed, and with each swipe, it skewered its enemies through, chilling them to the bone.
It was only when both magic and physical attacks failed to harm it that the Subterranean Dwarves realized how terrifying the Mercury Avatar was.
This was a monster that simply could not be dealt with.
Screams echoed through the underground, the stench of blood spreading far. Soon other underground predators would follow the screams and the scent of blood. But before that, the Mercury Avatar had completed its revenge, killing all the dozens of Subterranean Dwarves.
Looking at his handiwork after the revenge, the Mercury Avatar let out an excited battle roar!
"Mercury God! Mercury God! Your blessing, my revenge! Look, I have carried out my revenge!"
For the first time, the little Mercury Avatar experienced a feeling of ecstatic exhilaration, very different from the feeling of being content with eating and sleeping within Mercury City.
It was the smartest child among the Mercury Avatars, which was why it managed to evade guards and accomplish the feat of running away from home. But it was also naïve, not knowing that the metal mines near Mercury City were long exhausted. Its physical strength gradually depleted, and hungry, it wandered far before being captured by others.
In fear and despair, the great Deity gave a response!
It was a call from the bloodline, the Spirit Puppet’s own Deity granting him power!
After defeating his enemies, the child excitedly showed the results to this Deity.
However, instead of praise, it received an angry roar, "No Mercury God! No Mercury God! We, the creator, the Bone God! Only the Bone God!"
The hitherto braggart Mercury Avatar was so frightened, it quickly curled up into a ball and then cautiously repeated, "Bone God, Bone God! We, the creator, the only Bone God!"
But that great existence still seemed unsatisfied, projecting Amberser’s likeness into the consciousness of this Mercury Avatar with supreme authority.
"Remember! Bone God! We, the master of creation!"
The little one shouted louder and louder, as the new generation of Mercury Avatars had never seen the Lord Witch Demon who created the Mercury Avatars. But now it knew; this was its creator, the Father God of all Mercury Avatars!
Far in the Evil Silver Gradient of the God of Alchemy’s Divine Realm, fatigue overwhelmed him. He found that communicating with his progeny for the first time was such an exhausting event. Before entering his deep sleep, he could only give this runaway brat one last reminder, "Eat well, sleep well, grow well! Dedicate everything to the Bone God!"
The little one quickly responded, "Eat, sleep, grow! For the Bone God!"
Hearing this unwavering response, the Evil Silver Gradient finally closed his eyes with satisfaction, truly tired, ready for a deep sleep.
The little one from the deep Underground called out a few times but got no more responses from the Evil Silver Gradient. The brat looked around, puzzled, ready to return to Mercury City. The outside world was too harsh; a careless move could lead to capture, so it was better to go home.
Eat well, sleep well, grow well, then dedicate everything to the Bone God!
This was now its ambition. But where was home?
When it was inside the bottle, it had not managed to remember the way. Which direction led home?
With no other choice, the little one swallowed all the metal from the weapons and picked a random direction to move forward.
The death of the Subterranean Dwarves quickly attracted a host of carrion-eating monsters, including Underground giant Spiders and cave-dwelling blood-sucking bats. These creatures fought against each other and turned the entire battlefield into chaos.
Hours later, all that remained in the area were scraps of flesh and bone, with no one left to know what had happened there.
Not even Deities are all-knowing and almighty. Neither the God of Alchemy nor Amberser could detect this connection of racial bloodline. They discovered that the Evil Silver Gradient had fallen into slumber, with Amberser’s explanation being "overeating."
The God of Alchemy agreed; they had indeed stuffed the creature with plenty of heavy metals, which seemed a bit too much. Let the Evil Silver Gradient sleep it off.
This sleep lasted several days. However, when the Evil Silver Gradient awoke, there was a new half-human-tall Mercury Avatar by his side.
Amberser looked at the sprightly newborn Mercury Avatar bouncing towards him, and hastily tried to scoop it up with more than a dozen Magic Hands. But as soon as these Magic Power condensed palms touched the Mercury Avatar, they dissipated into thin air, and the Magic Mirror shattered once again.
Amberser felt like he’d been hit with a blunt object, and while it wasn’t very painful, the impact was real.
The God of Alchemy slapped the Magic Mirror back to repair and then picked up the newborn to examine it carefully.
Then the God of Alchemy excitedly said, "Degraded! This little one’s Power is far inferior to the Evil Silver Gradient!"
But before the God of Alchemy could get excited, the little one twisted and transformed, slipping from his grasp and morphing into the shape of a small child, running to the side of the Magic Mirror.
The Mercury Avatar knelt before Amberser, devoutly speaking, "Great Bone God, your loyal servant asks for your blessing, please bestow upon me a name, and I shall dedicate my Soul and all to you."
Amberser had never heard a Mercury Avatar speak to him with such fluidity before; even the Evil Silver Gradient, the oldest of its kind, was slow-witted and could only convey a rough idea with its interrupted speech.
Helplessly, Amberser said to the God of Alchemy, "Teacher, we’re in big trouble, the Power of the Mercury Avatars has degraded, but their intelligence has increased."
