This Lich Requests More Remuneration
Chapter 659 - 579: The Devil’s Daily Life

Chapter 659: Chapter 579: The Devil’s Daily Life

The headquarters of the Alchemist Association were set up in the busiest commercial street of the Dwarf Capital, and Gustavo Flint had spent a considerable amount of money to purchase this location, though he was reimbursed later, but at that time, he personally went to the Goblin Bank to borrow the initial funds.

This Legendary Alchemist had never imagined that he would ever fall into such hardship.

But everything had improved.

Thanks to that Lich, who revitalized the almost dead alchemy through an unimaginable method of repackaging and promotion, the market was brought back to life.

The massive population across All Nations needed Alchemy Products, and the Dwarf Kingdom urgently needed a new economic pillar, so it was a perfect match. The Kingdom offered numerous benefits to the Alchemist Association, who, after making money, reciprocated with considerable taxes to the Kingdom.

Everything was quite good, only that recently, the profits of the Alchemist Association had begun to decrease.

This was a headache-inducing problem, mainly caused by market saturation.

The markets that could be developed had almost been exhausted, alchemy sales had started to stabilize, and sales of some products even declined, such as many high-end magic products. These items, once bought, were kept as family heirlooms and naturally were not purchased regularly like everyday items.

For various reasons, the recent financial reports of the Alchemist Association did not look very good.

Overall, they were still making money, and quite a lot at that.

But greed is human nature. Originally making ten million a month, and now only nine million, many people couldn’t accept that. There were discordant voices inside and outside the Alchemist Association, all because they felt that they were making less money recently.

But this was a market rule, and Gustavo Flint could not create a larger market either.

"Pity, if I could open markets overseas, then I wouldn’t have to worry about market saturation for at least ten years."

Gustavo Flint was still very envious of the markets on Dragon Island and among the overseas races. Unfortunately, developing overseas was not that simple and required a step-by-step approach.

After drinking some tea, Gustavo Flint picked up a document next to him, which was the recent promotion list of the Alchemist Association. Some alchemists were to be promoted to Advanced, and Gustavo Flint, as the President, had to personally audit and confirm.

Although they were all very familiar names, Gustavo Flint still reviewed them very carefully. Even though he was now the President, Gustavo Flint still maintained the rigor expected of an alchemist.

But after reviewing the list of Advanced Alchemists, Gustavo Flint frowned and asked his assistant, "Where is Isabel’s name?"

The young assistant carefully said, "This one... has already applied to leave the Alchemist Association. The application is in the appendix. According to the rules, leaving the Alchemist Association doesn’t need approval, so the new list has deleted Isabel’s name."

Gustavo Flint’s face immediately turned serious, and his aloof demeanor made the assistant shiver. The President was truly intimidating when silent, and just being stared at by those eyes could cause a heart attack.

"So she ultimately refused to become my apprentice?"

Gustavo Flint was genuinely heartbroken now, Isabel was not the most talented student he had seen, but she was the most dedicated. Other alchemists treated alchemy as a job that required effort, but only Isabel treated alchemy as a part of her daily life.

She did not need to force herself to study because studying alchemy was her greatest interest. Isabel was always improving herself, as naturally as drinking water and eating.

This child did not show any startling brilliance, and even in her research direction, she chose "improvement" which geniuses disdained, rather than risking "innovation."

Only Gustavo Flint could understand Isabel’s choice.

Each improvement study of a formula represented Isabel’s familiarity and understanding of all the principles of that formula. Therefore, the longer Isabel studied, the more formulas she mastered, resulting in a very solid foundation and broader knowledge than alchemists who focused solely on specific innovations.

Given enough time to accumulate, Isabel would eventually reach a breakout period in her life, just like himself once did, being able to produce a large number of patents in a very short time that could potentially influence the entire development of alchemy.

Because of Isabel’s dedication, Gustavo Flint truly hoped to have her as his student.

Unfortunately, he was one step too slow.

Gustavo Flint could not understand why that damn Lich, who was naturally greedy, always had so many devoted followers? Not only Isabel, but his other students, the Undead Queen, and even the Saint King of Laine were willing to entrust their lives to him, and now even the Laine People were beginning to be grateful to him.

"Fortunately, he is dead."

Gustavo Flint comforted himself, temporarily suppressing his inner turmoil, and continued to review the documents.

The list of Advanced Alchemists hadn’t changed much; the absence of Isabel did not make any noticeable difference. However, when Gustavo Flint turned to the following list, he immediately noticed something wrong.

"Why are there so many? The numbers of Beginner and Intermediate Alchemists have increased so much?!"

The assistant could only explain, "I have checked repeatedly, the data is correct. The pass rate this time was much higher than before. Not only that, but the number of Alchemy Apprentices applying was also much higher than before."
