Chapter 617: Chapter 547: If You Can’t Beat Them, Join Them

Hell Law wished to respond to Amberser’s plan.

Chaos only suited Hell, a place where sinners are punished.

Without a comparison, there is no harm. Compared to the future depicted by Amberser, Duke Zariel’s current rule was too primitive and too gentle. It was all about fighting, fighting, and more fighting, with perhaps the occasional bout of torture. It was vastly different from the soul-penetrating torment devised by Amberser.

The entire first layer of hell was excited for this insane future, eager for this era to arrive sooner.

Every devil was forced to become a slave to wealth, dependent on the Magic Mirror.

Consuming wealth could simply obtain power, which was much easier than training oneself. The devils would become more corrupt, and then fall into a situation where no matter how hard they tried, they couldn’t compare to someone who simply spent money. Efforts became meaningless, leaving only the despair of endless internal strife.

That was what they wanted, that was what Hell was!

Duke Zariel’s face turned sour. Although this authority was bestowed by the Lord of Hell, it was not entirely his. Yet the fact that Hell Law was compelled to respond so eagerly to Amberser’s performance was unusual, something Zariel had never encountered before.

If it weren’t for Zariel’s efforts to control the power of the first layer of hell, Amberser might have already gained "Law Embodiment" and directly become a Hell Lord, transforming from a mortal to a being with class god power.

"This damn madman! How could he come up with such a terrifying plan!" Zariel exclaimed.

Zariel had a bit of a headache. He subconsciously wanted to reject this insane plan, but he couldn’t.

Because Hell had already recognized Amberser’s "viciousness."

Zariel wasn’t the true Lord of Hell, and his granted authority had its limits; he couldn’t blatantly go against the will of Hell. The only thing he could do was to withhold the "reward" that should have been given to Amberser.

Amberser was oblivious to this, regardless of how special his current state was. Ultimately, being a mortal, he was unable to sense the changes in Hell Law.

If he knew, Amberser might even add that those inferior demons promoting the Magic Mirror were still using a pyramid scheme model, where bringing in a new customer on a loan could earn a commission.

It’s just various methods of torment, Amberser in his past life had seen plenty of these.

But he could see the changes in Zariel’s expression and asked in confusion, "What’s wrong, do you not like this operation? This could accumulate vast wealth for us, allowing us to compete with Mammon. Otherwise, when it comes to high-end clients, we really can’t compare with Mammon."

Mammon was not some false Hell’s richest, he was a true veteran Hell Noble, a big shot who had once been a son-in-law to the Lord of Hell. Many Lords of different layers of hell had relations with him, whether they hated or liked him. Mammon needed only a word to make these Hell Lords seriously consider, weighing whether to invest.

In this regard, Zariel was way behind. He was not skilled at forging personal connections and even had experiences of subordinates revolting and being cruelly captured and imprisoned by Bayer.

Because of Hell’s stance, the allure of wealth somewhat diminished for Zariel, making the Duke of Hell a bit more composed. Zariel retorted, "After all this talk, this system is still controlled by you. What does it have to do with me?"

Amberser was a bit surprised. When had Zariel become so savvy? With such a large sum of money in front of him, he could still spot this minor issue. However, Amberser was prepared and told Zariel, "You don’t think Soul Currency is of any use to me, do you? I’m not a devil. Ultimately, the numbers on account will end up in the hands of you few, and if you don’t want it, then Mammon and Goddess Tiamat will divide it up.

"Duke Zariel, the fact that I discussed this plan with you first should already represent my sincerity."

Soul Currency indeed didn’t mean much for Amberser; he couldn’t enhance himself by burning it, and perhaps it could be used as currency, but after all, it was just external to him.

Having been reborn, Amberser felt he should focus more on himself rather than just making money.

This time, he wanted to learn how to spend money, how to spend big to rid himself of the many bonds of the past.

He planned to "give" this huge amount to Zariel on the surface to gain some benefits from the Grand Duke of Hell, since it was all just a string of numbers in the bank, and very little of it was real Soul Currency. Zariel didn’t understand these things, and Amberser felt he could make a substantial profit by exploiting this ignorance.

Amberser looked at Zariel with anticipation, hoping the Grand Duke of Hell could be seduced.

However, Zariel remained indifferent.

"Forget it, whatever you say, I don’t want to talk about this now," he said.

Amberser was genuinely stunned this time. Where had things gone wrong? His plan should have been flawless, a clear win-win. He hadn’t even made his demand yet!

Having no choice, Amberser said to Zariel, "If that’s the case, then I can only talk to Mammon and Goddess Tiamat. I believe They will support my plan."

Zariel furrowed his brows, threatening, "How dare you? You said this was a gift for me!"

Amberser grew even more puzzled. What was up with this Fallen Angel? Could it be that, like mortals, he also had unstable magical phases? Why was he so hard to deal with?

Amberser no longer had the patience he had as an Undead, and said frankly to Zariel, "I originally came with sincerity, but since you don’t need my gift, it’s only right for me to take it back and offer it to someone else. What exactly do you want? Let’s be frank."

Zariel felt indignant, but indeed, he had no threat over Amberser.

After hesitating for a long time, Zariel coldly said, "Why wouldn’t I want something you’re giving me? However, what you mentioned is ultimately under your control. I need to see actual authority, not just empty promises."

If he could not stop it, he might as well join in.

If Hell accepted the future Amberser had arranged, it was better to have this credit attributed to oneself.

Amberser chuckled, thinking that the problem was simpler than he had expected, and he had been prepared all along.

"If you are worried about that, why don’t we just sign a contract? No matter how chaotic and cruel Hell is, I still admire the spirit of contracts. We can make a detailed contract where you have editing rights over the system. Let’s discuss it, ensuring control for you while guaranteeing profit for everyone. Mutual benefit is always the best outcome," he said.

Zariel nodded reluctantly, now left with no other choice.

However, the terms of the agreement needed to be carefully considered so that this credit could be attributed to himself.

Seeing Zariel relent, Amberser continued, "Duke Zariel, since my gift is quite satisfactory, I would like to make a small request. I wonder if you could oblige."

Zariel instantly became vigilant and asked, "What request?"

"It’s quite simple. You know my teacher is the God of Alchemy, who helped me upgrade this Magic Mirror. As a token of gratitude, I also want to give my teacher a small gift, such as... the technology related to the Hell Engine. The alchemy of Hell is also unique. I believe my teacher would appreciate it greatly. I wonder if you could do me this favor, Duke Zariel?"
