Chapter 511: Chapter 470: Enjoy Freedom Unfettered
You can’t underestimate any deity, not even one concocted by the Kuotuo murlocs.
Even the foolish deities hold knowledge beyond mortal comprehension.
This move by the Kuotuo murlocs would pose quite a challenge for most people, leaving them with no choice but to either give up completely or wait to be forcibly deified. It’s likely that the Koutao Mermaid Goddess has already coordinated with those evil gods, ready to divide and devour Aige.
But Aige is different from others; she has many options because she has many trustworthy friends, and each is exceptionally talented.
"Let me try this power of faith," Amberser was the first to extend the invitation.
Normally, no one is willing to share something as precious as this, but Aige and Amberser’s relationship went beyond mere friendship; they should be considered "allies" whose fates were intertwined. Therefore, Aige trusted Amberser without reservation, and Amberser didn’t disappoint, supporting her all the way to the brink of deification.
Now that Amberser was asking for the power of faith, Aige naturally wouldn’t be stingy.
When Aige grabbed Amberser’s hand, a massive force poured into him.
This felt completely different from magic power. When Amberser felt the transfer of the power of faith, he felt as if nothing was beyond his reach, as if he could turn the whole world to gold with a simple gesture.
But what followed was a cacophony of chaotic voices, as if ten thousand lunatics were screaming at Amberser, spouting absurd and twisted words, causing his body to transform.
Things resembling barnacles started sprouting on his skeletal frame, even his soul began to contort.
"This is terrifying!"
This forcible transfer consumes a great deal of the power of faith; perhaps only a tenth remains after transferring ten parts, because Aige wasn’t a deity and had little control over the power of faith.
Even if it was only a tenth, it was still too much for Amberser to handle, and he hastily summoned his Golden Throne.
The immense power of faith, as if finding a vent, rushed crazily into the golden chair behind Amberser.
The Golden Throne, its backrest mostly missing and reduced from a throne to a stool, began to "grow" at a visible rate as the massive power of faith flowed into it.
Countless golden specks appeared; the Golden Throne was continuously transforming the power of faith into gold.
And Aige’s changes followed; the scales and shells on her ghost ship began to recede because she was truly giving all her power of faith to Amberser without reservation.
As the Golden Throne continued to restore itself, its appearance also changed.
It went from a majestic high-back chair to an amalgam of coral, shells, and marine life.
No matter how you looked at it, from near or far, the thing was hideously ugly.
Amberser, looking at the Golden Throne that now had lost all resemblance to its original form, didn’t quite know what to say; the mental contamination by the Kuotuo murlocs was just too outrageous.
"Senior Aige, to maintain your self for so long in spite of this is truly incredible!"
Amberser genuinely meant it; he had underestimated the contaminating power of the Kuotuo murlocs. Aige’s willpower was so strong that she managed to hold on until he arrived; she was indeed deserving of the Elegy Poetry Society’s prestige.
"Now is not the time for that; have you been affected?" Aige curiously asked.
Aige continued to hold Amberser’s hand without letting go, as a massive amount of the power of faith still flowed into him, but Amberser seemed unaffected.
Could it be that the Golden Throne also filters the power of faith?
Amberser confidently said, "Senior, your willpower is strong, and my desires are pure enough. Gold, no matter its form, remains gold. The thoughts of the Kuotuo murlocs can warp the shape of the Golden Throne, but they can’t change its effects."
Amberser was indeed unaffected. The essence of the Golden Throne was merely an amplifier for casting; it had no will of its own. At worst, its appearance had been marred, but its spell-enhancing effects were completely unimpaired.
As he saw the hideous, stool-like Golden Throne gradually grow larger, Amberser had no choice but to keep holding onto Aige’s hand, continuing to absorb the chaotic mess of faith.
Aige felt a sense of relief washing over her. She had been using all her strength to maintain her sanity, lest she be driven mad by these chaotic thoughts or lose control and ascend to godhood.
It was fortunate he was there to help; otherwise, she truly couldn’t have lasted on her own.
Watching the Golden Throne grow from a small stool to the height of a person and continuing to expand, Aige couldn’t help but ask Amberser, "Does your Golden Throne have no limit to how much power of faith it can absorb?"
Amberser couldn’t answer that question, only saying, "I’ve never seen a limit — at least, I haven’t felt anything yet. But we can’t just sit here and wait; those Kuotuo murlocs don’t need to eat or sleep, and we can’t let them control us indefinitely. We need to figure out a solution."
The faith of the Kuotuo murlocs certainly wasn’t infinite, but it would be difficult to make them stop any time soon. Amberser was now accumulating wealth at the rate of tens of thousands of Gold Coins per minute; he couldn’t just stay there holding hands with Aige.
"We’ll have to consult with the others from the Elegy Poetry Society."
Amberser suggested, and then turned to the Dwarf Vampire that had been following him and said, "Hey, stop just watching the show; can’t you see we’re a bit tied up here? Use the Necromancy Codex to ask around."
