Chapter 500 - 461: The True Harvest

Chapter 500: Chapter 461: The True Harvest

Airel raised the hammer in her hand, and a whirlpool formed by thunder and currents gathered in front of her.

With a swish, the whirlpool expanded, enveloping all the Kuotuo Murlocs within a hundred meters.

Amberser himself was numbed for a moment by the electricity passing through the water, while the Kuotuo Murlocs covered by the whirlpool were all killed.

Such terrifying power, this move is only slightly inferior to Revenge Storm, but it’s at least at the level of an Eight-Ring Spell.

Looking at Amberser, Airel said in sign language, "Master Ultraman, I told you, you would be in danger on your own."

This was a bit awkward; despite appearing as if a Deity had descended, after using sign language, the momentum halved.

The outcome was clear, as the Kuotuo Murlocs weren’t yet extinct; they began to surround them once again.

All Amberser could say to Airel was, "Let’s repel the enemy first!"

Once the two coordinated, the Kuotuo Murlocs were in trouble; inherently less powerful than Amberser and Airel, the Legendary adventurers, the Murlocs were kept busy dealing with Amberser’s various tactics.

Although Airel didn’t have as many tricks, the Divine Artifact in her hands was immensely powerful, simply electrifying again and again in various ways. The sea was Airel’s home ground, and she even turned the area into a massive pot of fish soup.

The battle lasted less than three minutes, with the Kuotuo Murlocs leaving behind a pile of corpses before retreating amidst bizarre cries.

Although victorious, Amberser still couldn’t locate the Illusionist hiding in the dark. Probably another Legendary warrior among the Kuotuo Murlocs—that fellow had been avoiding action from the start and never showed up, quite the schemer.

He had to be prepared for next time to avoid such troubles.

Just an Illusionist; he had encountered them before.

The greatest wealth of Amberser might just be his centuries of adventuring experience, having encountered just about every type of enemy and found ways to deal with them. Next time, he would definitely capture that Kuotuo Murloc Illusionist and turn him into his own Undead Puppet.

Airel hung the hammer back on her waist and came to Amberser’s side.

Her body still carried a slight electric charge, with flashes of electrical light jumping on her skin from time to time, the sea water unable to conceal it.

"Master Ultraman, are you alright?" she asked.

Amberser hurriedly replied, "I’m fine, not a scratch on me."

There were a few scratches on the Mithril Mech, but it was not important, even unnecessary to repair as long as one didn’t mind such minor imperfections.

Airel asked, "Do you still believe your guess is correct? Could it be that these Kuotuo Murlocs are controlling the sea beasts, making them afraid to attack, all to lure us into their trap?"

Amberser did not respond to the question but simply raised his right hand and said, "I don’t know, so now I ask someone who does to give us the answer. Great Lord of the Storm, I’ve completed your trial just now, right?"

Thunders danced again on the mark in his palm as the towering projection of Talos appeared before them.

Upon seeing the Deity she worshipped appear, Airel couldn’t help but want to kneel. But Talos didn’t look at Airel, focusing only on Amberser, "I am not very satisfied with you, after all, it was my follower who assisted you. I was interested in how you would free yourself from the influence of chaotic thoughts, but the Kuotuo Murlocs turned out to be too useless."

Talos has never liked such anticlimactic battles, but the Kuotuo Murlocs didn’t heed Him and departed after heavy losses.

Airel never imagined that the ambushes were arranged by the Lord of the Storm—could it be that she had disrupted the great Deity’s plan?

Just as she was about to request forgiveness from the Deity, Amberser spoke first, "If you wish to see a more interesting battle, why not observe the fight between the Laine People and the Orcs? They will fight to the death for sure, much more intriguing than my minor skirmishes."

Airel was stunned; how could the Lich speak so casually? Did he realize who he was addressing?

In Airel’s heart, Talos represented devastation, with no Deity more majestic or terrifying. Wasn’t the Lich afraid of offending Talos and being punished by Him?

What shocked Airel even more was Talos’s attitude; He seemed not to mind Amberser’s tone and said with enthusiasm, "Thanks to you! Had you not sent a few Magic Mirrors to Laine, they would have surely lost by now. If it wasn’t for the gifted commander you sent Laine, they would have been defeated too. But you also sent quite a few Undead Troops to the Orcs, so it’s even on both sides, with exciting fights every day."

This time, it was Amberser’s turn to be stunned, and he asked in amazement, "Laine would lose? How is that possible?"

In Amberser’s mind, the Orcs conducted war without any strategy; they might be individually stronger than the average Laine soldier, but without coordination in their army, they were almost like cannon fodder. But Talos was suggesting that without the Magic Mirrors’ aid, Laine would lose?

Talos laughed heartily and explained to Amberser, "You don’t know? An orc prodigy appeared who can communicate mentally with any orc over long distances. The orcs, who used to rely solely on instinct in battle, suddenly became an elite force under his control. Due to him, Laine has already lost several battles."

"After all, the difference in combat strength is not too great. This orc commander can issue orders to all soldiers at the same time. Such command ability is frightening. The key is that long-distance communication is no longer a problem for orcs, so imagine how easy it is for a commander who can control the whole situation to fight a war. If you hadn’t sent a few magic mirrors to Laine, they would have lost their border cities."

Much to his surprise, Amberser said, "Has Geush started to bless the intelligent instead of the strong?"

Talos smiled and said, "Do you think only mortals can see the changes of the times? Gods have witnessed countless civilizations rise and fall; we know the signs of the world changing even more than you do. The blessings of the gods will keep increasing until they approach the limits set by Aeo."

"Your war weapons are continuously changing the way wars are fought in this world. Perhaps one day the Laine people will come to you to order undead weapons, which would be very interesting!"

"I suppose I should thank you for the warning. I will keep an eye on it."

Amberser was indeed eager to see that day come. In a world where killings were rampant, wouldn’t it be better to have warfare entirely conducted by drones? Wars cost money anyway; why not spend it on him?

However, what Amberser was currently concerned about was not this issue. He continued to speak to Talos, "Lord of the Storm, although there were some unexpected occurrences in this trial, I assume that someone as great as you would not break a contract, right? So, my reward?"

"No wonder all gods say you liches are insatiable. You really dare to haggle with me. Very well, since your performance was less than perfect, so shall your reward be. I can give you a piece of information: those Githyanki you seek are indeed here. I can also tell you that the reason they can hide here is that I have allowed them to live."

Talos’s words plunged Amberser into deep thought, and after a moment, he made a bold guess.

"This Thunderous Sea Area was created by you, wasn’t it? That’s why Airel and I can deter the sea beasts of this area, not because we are legendary, but because Airel carries your Divine Artifact and I bear your mark."

Talos appreciably found Amberser’s insight impressive; this lich was truly capable of connecting various clues to deduce many things.

"Correct, I did create this sea area myself. Just so you know, a long time ago, this place had another name—Revenge Storm Arena, and it was an arena where my followers entertained me. Unfortunately, it has been deserted for a long time now. Little skeleton, would you like to take on another trial?"

As soon as Talos finished speaking, Amberser asked, "Do you wish to restart this arena?"

"Exactly, you are indeed intelligent. Enter it, for you should know how to satisfy me."

"This..."

Amberser hesitated, not wanting to waste his time on such matters. He was no natural battle frenzy and had no interest in the killings of an arena.

Yet it seemed Talos had anticipated Amberser’s thoughts and immediately added, "Many souls who died in battles in the arena still linger in this sea area..."

Without a moment’s hesitation, Amberser said, "It is my honor to present the grandest duel for the great Lord of the Storm! Finding a resting place for the valiant warriors who died in battle is my duty! Leave it all to me!"

Those were the Heroic Spirits who had died on the battlefield and were able to wander in this sea area for ages; how powerful must those Heroic Spirits be?

On this sea venture, whether or not he found the Githyanki or the Heart-stealing Demon had become unimportant; these Heroic Spirits were now the most valuable reward.

Talos was looking for this exact effect. Seeing that Amberser took the bait, He turned to address Airel who had been crawling at the bottom of the sea, "My devout follower, you’ve done well. It was a wise choice to cooperate with this lich twice."

Airel quickly said with reverence, "The glory is Yours, great Deity."

But no sooner had she spoken than Airel felt a bit puzzled.

Was the twice cooperation in reference to the Alchemy Factory in the Fury Tide Kingdom and this adventure?

"Hahaha, keep up the good work; your devotion will surely be rewarded!"

Talos’s projection slowly dissipated, and Amberser’s wristband shone brightly again.

Only then did Airel stand up, and she said to Amberser in astonishment, "I didn’t expect that you, too, would receive the blessing of the Lord of the Storm. Indeed, working with you was the right choice. However, when He mentioned two cooperations, I had a strange feeling, as if I’ve known you for a long time..."

"That’s not important," Amberser interjected, cutting off Airel’s train of thought, and swiftly changed the subject.

"Let’s move on. The Githyanki are inside, as well as the Arena Heroic Spirits who have been wandering here for years. Her Royal Highness the Princess, this is a trial from Talos for the two of us. Please immediately forget those unimportant things and focus on the task at hand. Surely you wouldn’t want to disappoint Talos, would you?"

An aura of seriousness overcame Airel as she said resolutely, "Absolutely not, I will offer my glory to my lord!"
