Chapter 476: Chapter 442: Better to Ask Yourself than to Ask a Deity
"...In order to prevent the Sea Tribe’s blood from filling the Deep Sea, we sincerely invite the Lord of the Silent Night Sea to participate in this competition. The victor will win ownership of the Volcanic Ocean Region, witnessed by the gods..."
Amberser read the content above, but the truly important part was that three deities were willing to pay with the true origin of their divine powers to help Aige ascend to godhood.
Aige curiously asked, "Isn’t that a good thing? I can save decades of time."
Amberser, however, explained, "You should know about Vishalon’s case, don’t you? How many years did Talos control Vishalon after helping him to become a god? If it weren’t for good luck, our God of the Liches would still be enslaved by Talos. The origin of divine power is not so easy to obtain, not to mention what kind of characters these three gods are."
Let’s not speak of the Koutao Mermaid Goddess, whose deity position is mental illness. It wouldn’t be surprising if Aige were to share this power and become a lunatic. The Sharkwa Fishman Goddess Serkura isn’t any better; cruelty and inhumanity are synonymous with her, not to mention the last one, God Dimogogen of the Yixi Manta Ray.
How could the Demon Prince cooperate with the other two? No one would believe it if it were made known.
Amberser would rather believe that Dimogorgen was plotting to devour these two goddesses. This Demon Prince wouldn’t possibly spend his power for just a stretch of the ocean; it’s not even a matter of interest. Demons don’t reason with you.
So, Amberser was quite skeptical about the credibility of this letter.
But the problem was that the messengers were two Legends.
The Sharkwa Fishman and the Yixi Manta Ray each sent representatives with identical messages in their letters.
Generally speaking, Racial Gods have absolute control over their own kind, as Corellon, for instance, could render all Elves infertile with just a thought. This is the power of a Racial God.
Therefore, no race would dare to act in the name of a deity. Upon consideration, the contents of the letter seemed somewhat credible.
The situation was somewhat contradictory, leaving Amberser unable to immediately discern the truth.
However, he didn’t have to determine whether it was true or false. He simply said to Aige, "What I’m really skeptical about is their motive. Whether the contents of this letter are true or false, it’s better for us to just refuse."
Aige puzzledly said, "Even if it is true, we refuse?"
Amberser nodded and said, "We are currently on a sure path to victory, so why play their war game? How many Sharkwa Fishmen and Koutoa Murlocs die has nothing to do with us. Every creature must compete for living space. If they’re afraid of dying, they shouldn’t play this game."
"Aren’t you afraid of the wrath of those three gods?" Aige asked.
As a "native" of the area, even though she was close to taking the next step herself, her perception of the deities remained the same: gods are high above, not to be beheld directly by mortals but only to be worshipped.
But Amberser was different. He had tricked several goddesses before. A few more issues wouldn’t be significant.
Now Amberser held absolute advantage. The Undead, like a snowball rolling downhill, could easily sweep this ocean region. No matter whether a few races were allied, he would simply push them all over.
Why give up his advantage for a fair competition?
Unprofitable business should not be done, and that principle was unwavering for Amberser.
Aige indeed trusted Amberser, but she still couldn’t help feeling a bit apprehensive.
The moment she took over this ocean region and ascended to godhood, she would immediately gain three foes. Could she consolidate her Divine Realm in time or find a new sanctuary?
Aige needed to become a god, to gain favor from the God above Gods for a chance to resurrect her father from the timeline.
If she were to be hunted down right after becoming a god, the consequences would likely not be pleasant.
Given their current relationship, Aige made no secret of her concerns to Amberser.
Amberser did not overpromise and say that the God of Alchemy could help the issue. His relationship with the God of Alchemy was good but that was a personal friendship. To ask the God of Alchemy to protect Aige and make enemies with three deities would be too much, just like asking Amberser to donate all his possessions.
All businessmen understand one principle: you don’t use favors like that, or it’s easy to turn friends into foes.
The God of Alchemy could be considered Amberser’s biggest backup. He could not break that connection just to help Aige.
However, Amberser wasn’t completely out of ideas. He took off the ring he was wearing and handed it to Aige, saying, "This object should be able to help you."
"This ring looks somewhat familiar," Aige said in surprise. "You actually stole the ring from the Dragon Tomb?!"
"How can it be called stealing? I borrowed the treasure from the Dragon Tomb to save people, and Gareth already agreed to it," Amberser replied.
Amberser had long discussed the details of the rescue with Headless Bro, and Gareth was aware that Amberser had taken the ring, but the Dragon King’s son-in-law expressed the view that an exchange of one ring for both his and his wife’s lives, plus his father-in-law’s life, was a bargain.
This was certainly a fair and open statement, not at all an attempt to swindle his father-in-law once again.
With the Dragon Race now under Gareth’s rule and the Old Dragon King heartbroken after the betrayal, he had hidden away in the Dragon Tomb to sleep and left everything in Gareth’s hands.
Therefore, Amberser didn’t need to be secretive and boldly used the Divine Artifact.
Aige naturally understood what Amberser meant by "agreement." The Dragon Race had been utterly milked, stripped of their treasures.
"What’s the use of this ring?" Aige asked curiously.
Amberser explained, "It can help you accumulate divine power early. While it might not fully align with your own deity position, I believe it can help you form your Divine Realm prematurely."
The ring left by the president was very special; it held the meaning of breaking the boundary between mortals and Deities. Amberser could use this ring to condense "active" Dark Magic Power, just like the power the Grim Reaper possessed.
However, these things could not be integrated into oneself; a mortal body could not bear such power.
The Dragon Race used this power to transform the environment to facilitate the transformation of Bone Dragons, not directly using it themselves.
Amberser, on the other hand, used it to create Undead, never considering integrating it into his own body or Soul.
Because, after all, such power was a great force that mortals couldn’t enjoy; it could be used but not consumed.
And now, Aige was in precisely such a situation because this power could help her advance the creation of her Divine Realm.
A Divine Realm is actually a higher-level independent Plane, similar to Amberser’s private space, which doesn’t exist anywhere, and Amberser could open this private space anywhere to enter it.
Once the Space Gate is closed, no one can find where he is.
The significance of a Divine Realm is the same; first, it is a place to hide, and secondly, it is the destination for believers after death.
Strictly speaking, a Mage’s Spatial Pouch is also an independent Plane, which after upgrading becomes a stable personal Plane, and further, it becomes Amberser’s private Plane where he can manipulate time. Take it a step further, with a perfect self-repeating cycle, one could even create various materials and environments at will—that’s the Divine Realm of a Deity.
Normally, a Deity needs to first become a Deity, master Divine Power, and then they can use their own power to create such an independent space.
But it can’t be done in an instant; it requires a long process.
During this process, the Deity itself is in a "naked run" state and becomes a target of hunting by other Deities. What Aige is worried about is exactly this; during this period, she would have sufficient opportunity to die several times over.
Now, Amberser has lent her a ring capable of creating Divine Power, which seems to allow her to complete this process before becoming a Deity.
Firstly, don’t worry if the Divine Realm created this way is suitable or not; if it’s not, it can be slowly modified. As long as she can avoid the most vulnerable time at the beginning, Aige will have boundless possibilities.
After hearing Amberser’s explanation, Aige said in shock, "The president actually gave away such a Divine Artifact casually. Who on earth is he?"
Amberser was also curious about this question, but helplessly said, "If he doesn’t want to say, we can’t wildly guess."
Amberser had already queried the president in private messages when he received the ring, but the other side was like someone who had fallen asleep without checking group messages, with no reply at all.
"However, it’s certain that he is a Deity, just unclear which one. He can so clearly interfere with the Mortal Realm; the president’s identity must be extraordinary," Amberser added.
From what Amberser understood from books, Deities also have hierarchies, not simply distinguished by Divine Power levels but by many other factors, one of which is—history.
Take Shael for example, She was born during the Chaotic creation of the world as the Dark Goddess. Her seniority is so high that not even the Magic Goddess can compare. Despite her current sorry state, it seems Aige really granted Her some preferential treatment; otherwise, She would have burst forth a Deity Position last time.
If the president is also one of these ancient deities, then it wouldn’t be strange for him to have more privileges.
After all, Aeo is only powerful but has never guaranteed fairness to anyone or any god.
In the end, this is a private world. If you don’t like it, you can roll out, don’t talk to Aeo about fairness or unfairness.
Amberser told Aige, "Anyway, use this ring for now; if you can create a Divine Realm in advance, then the moment you achieve godhood, you will have a Sanctuary. It’s better to rely on oneself than on Deities; that has always been my habit."
Aige nodded and then tore up the invitation letter.
Asking oneself is indeed better than begging Deities, rather than hoping for the mercy of a Deity, it is better to make oneself powerful.
Aige clearly refused the unfair invitation in her own name, and the Envoy who delivered the letter didn’t say much else, just left some harsh words before leaving.
However, after the Envoy left, Amberser’s area began to undergo one attack after another. Whether it was the Sharkwa Fishman or the Yixi Manta Ray, they appeared as if they were on a suicide mission.
But Amberser had been prepared long ago; no matter how prolific the Sharkwa Fishman and the Kuotuo Murloc were, they needed time, they couldn’t fight a war of attrition with mass-produced Undead.
As for high-level combat power, who could compare to Aige’s high-end capabilities?
After several severe casualties, it seemed as though they began to quiet down.
Just as Amberser said, the reason he was able to occupy this ocean region was that he truly overpowered them with real strength.
Even though everything was developing well, Amberser still felt that something was not right.
He once saw a prophecy about a wedding; whose wedding was it, and what did it have to do with this ocean?
Until Aeolus appeared before Amberser once again.
But this time, he was no longer that unreasonable, mad figure; on the contrary, compared to his previous grandeur, he looked rather bedraggled.
One of his arms had disappeared, and a strange young girl trailed beside him, half-human, half-lobster.
The first words Aeolus said upon meeting again were to Amberser, "Old friend, I was wrong before. Now, could I ask you for a favor?"
