Chapter 405: Chapter 377 I Emptied the Dragon Tomb

That was a skeleton cloaked in a cape, just half of its body already towering into the sky, as if a single rib might be larger than a Giant Dragon.

How did such a terrifying giant emerge? Not even the Giants are this tall, right?

This dreadful skeleton, like a manifestation of the Grim Reaper, paralyzed all the Githyanki upon its arrival, leaving the Astral Red Dragons in the sky barely able to hold on, their wing-flapping now sluggish.

Then the fearsome giant skeleton slowly extended its right hand toward the Githyanki, lazily raising its index finger.

A gentle tap from the giant caused ripples to form in the air, no, not in the air, but in space itself.

The moment the giant’s fingertip pressed down, space shattered, and a terrifying wave of light and shadows burst forth, like a tide of monsters rushing towards the Githyanki.

This wasn’t any spell, but rather dark magic power condensed to the extreme.

When Amberser had initially detonated his long-cultivated skeletal body, the surging dark magic power had taken the form of various poisonous insects, turning all nearby Magipuppet Automatons into scrap metal.

This time, the skeleton, like a Deity, released its immense dark magic power, and it wasn’t just turning into insects.

Numerous fearsome wraiths surged from the dark tide, each too horrific to describe—three heads and six arms, mouth filled with sharp teeth, tentacles covered in barbs, and gaping maws belching flames... All the forms of brutality and evil were manifested and turned into a wave that drowned all the Githyanki.

Not just those in the sky, but also the Githyanki that had submerged into the ocean.

The dark magic power didn’t differentiate, covering everything from the skies to the seabed.

The black tide surged violently, expanding for over ten kilometers before it began to dissipate.

In the direction the giant had pointed, within a radial scope of fifteen kilometers, all living creatures perished, not even a tiny shrimp could survive.

The dark tide came quickly and retreated just as fast. When the sky and sea returned to their original colors, only Gareth and Pale Bone were left in the sky.

Only the Undead could resist such an onslaught of dark magic power. The Githyanki and the Astral Red Dragons were all instantaneously killed and had long since fallen into the ocean, now in a highly decayed state.

Gareth scratched his helmet, surprised, "Does the Dragon Tomb’s defense magic include this trick? How come I didn’t know about it?"

Pale Bone also expressed surprise, "I didn’t know either, what’s going on here?"

Gareth chuckled and said, "What else could it be? Of course, it must be my brother’s doing."

Gareth had utmost confidence in Amberser; anything unreasonable in this world was most likely the masterpiece of this Lich.

Exiling an entire kingdom, how could this trick compare to that?

But, couldn’t he have warned me a bit earlier?

The dense dark magic power had damaged Gareth’s armor, now turned to worthless scrap. This set of armor had been strengthened over hundreds of years, a high-grade magic equipment—he had suffered a great loss.

While the Undead could wield dark magic power, too strong a force could still cause damage.

Gareth smiled bitterly, but he could not voice a complaint. He had been somewhat reckless; reflecting on it now, the Githyanki’s target wasn’t him but Pale Bone. He couldn’t bear to think of any harm that might have come to Pale Bone during his exile; Gareth would have gone mad.

Amberser had saved more than his life, something far more precious than his own life.

As for the equipment, if it’s broken, it’s broken. It’s not a big deal to spend another few centuries forging a new set.

As the two slowly flew toward the Isle of Slumber, they saw a figure swiftly gliding over the sea, rapidly collecting the corpses of the Githyanki and Red Dragons into his private space.

The private space, originally as large as a castle, had always been sufficient, but after collecting two Red Dragon corpses, it suddenly seemed cramped. Amberser decided to cast a spell to turn the rest of the corpses into skeletons.

The Astral Red Dragons, their rotting bodies contorting, swam toward the Isle of Slumber and lay down upon reaching the shore.

These bone dragons, merely temporary summons, had no fighting strength, and it was fortunate that they could move at all.

After the Red Dragons came ashore, it was time for the Githyanki corpses, transformed into skeletons by Amberser, one by one walking from the seabed to the shore.

After all this work, Amberser was somewhat tired.

So many corpses, and all those Red Dragons, to be driven solely by dark magic power was truly no easy task.

There was a moment when Amberser thought of summoning the Golden Throne to reinforce his magic power, but after contemplating, he refrained; it was just a matter of spending more time, unnecessary to consume a large amount of gold.

Luckily, Aige lent a hand, her Ghost Ship circling in the sea brought him a slew of corpses, not just Githyanki, but also many massive marine creatures, especially the Yixi Manta Rays, creatures with demon bloodlines, even more valuable than the average Githyanki.

"I wonder how they managed to tame those Yixi Manta Rays, those creatures are the pets of Demon Prince Dimogorgen after all."

Amberser gazed at the trove spread across the beach, barely able to close his gaping mouth. This time he had truly struck it rich.

"Brother, stop only counting the money, can you, and tell me what on earth did you do just now? The Dragon Tomb doesn’t have such formidable power." Gareth was very curious, neglecting his minor wounds, he hastily sought an answer.

Amberser didn’t hide anything and frankly said, "I completely drained the divine power gathered in the Dragon Tomb in one go. I must say, your father-in-law doesn’t understand a thing about necromancy. It’s no wonder the success rate of turning into a Bone Dragon is so low, it’s simply a crime against heaven’s gifts."

The dark magic power inside the Dragon Tomb was transformed through a "Concept God," an entity not belonging to the mortal world and inherently powerful. Sevres had never studied necromancy, and his use of this dark magic power over the years was simply dismal. In Amberser’s view, even when he was an apprentice, he was much better than him.

After paving the way with the Dice of Destiny, Amberser found the true heart of the entire Dragon Tomb—the ring that Sevres had enshrined on the altar, a gift from the chairman of the Elegy Poetry Society to Sevres.

Without a doubt, it was a powerful divine artifact that surpassed Amberser’s understanding.

But thanks to the knowledge of the deities that Laila shared with him, Amberser was just barely able to manipulate this ring and the magic array covering the entire Dragon Tomb.

And then, he cast that spell using the dark magic power that had been accumulating in the Dragon Tomb for years.

Truthfully, Amberser wanted to cast Death’s Touch with that move, but such a vast power was truly uncontrollable. He had only just begun the spell when it failed, resulting in the dark magic power going haywire, bursting from the fingers of a giant Grim Reaper and completely eradicating all living beings.

Amberser helplessly explained, "I really did plan to leave something for the Dragon Tomb, given you still wanted to turn into Bone Dragons, but I just couldn’t control such an overwhelming force."

That was the heartfelt truth, with the Golden Throne not summoned, Amberser did reach his limit already.

As for spending money to save magic power for the Dragon Race?

Don’t even think about it!

Draining all of the stored dark magic power in one go started to cause operational issues with the magic array of the Dragon Tomb, and what’s more preposterous was that ever since Amberser put on the ring, he hadn’t taken it off. Thus, the Isle of Slumber began to become unstable, and who knows, the Dragon Tomb may soon be fully exposed.

Of course, that was no longer Amberser’s concern.

Gareth said nonchalantly, "It’s fine if it’s used up, the dark magic power is precious but not as precious as Pale Bone." Gareth then held onto Amberser so tightly that he nearly crushed him.

Gareth said excitedly, "Brother, I owe you my life...no, two lives! From now on, just give the word, and my long sword is at your service."

Amberser finally pushed away Gareth, that terrifying monster. His mithril body nearly deformed in the embrace, and that hug cost Amberser several Gold Coins in repair fees.

Pale Bone also hurried to thank Amberser. Miss Bone Dragon might not have been through big scenes, but she understood how dangerous it had been for her just a moment before. If it wasn’t for Amberser’s intervention, it wouldn’t have been just about replacing a few bones.

Amberser quickly said, "Don’t rush to thank me, the most important task is still undone. We still don’t know the whereabouts of Sevres, and the Githyanki brought people to make trouble in the Dragon Tomb. What about the other living members of the Dragon Race? Are they accomplices, or has something else happened?"

Right, quickly consider this important issue, and don’t worry about the ring inside the Dragon Tomb.

Pale Bone immediately became flustered and quickly said, "Right, father, we must hurry to the other Dragon Islands to find him."

Gareth offered a few words of comfort, then said to Amberser, "Brother, I know you already have a plan, right?"

Amberser smiled and pulled out a fragment of a soul.

"This is a soul of a Githyanki, judging by the strength of the soul, he’s probably a decent Mage, maybe even legendary. It’s just a shame he never saw a real deity in action, or else he might have had the chance to flee earlier."

The burst of dark magic power had been too intense earlier; weaker souls had long since dissipated in the black tides. It was expected that the souls of Red Dragons might be stronger, barely leaving something behind, but it turned out that the Red Dragons were completely obliterated, not a trace left.

However, the soul in Amberser’s hand was still largely intact after the onslaught of the black tide.

It was quite the promising material, one that would absorb dark magic power on its own if left untreated, slowly evolving into a powerful Specter or Lich. In any case, it was very valuable.

However, Amberser could only reluctantly dismantle the soul now to access its memories.

As he extracted the threads of the soul, he harvested all its residual memories. After several meticulous hours of searching, Amberser told Pale Bone and Gareth, "Fortunately, your father is still safe for the time being. He’s only been deceived by another group of Githyanki and taken elsewhere, not controlled. With some luck, he should return in a few hours."

Pale Bone and Gareth just breathed a sigh of relief, but Amberser added, "Yet, the problem isn’t solved. The Githyanki attacked the Dragon Tomb head-on because they were ready to sever ties. Unfortunately, this Githyanki’s soul is severely fragmented, and I only saw they’ve built a huge altar on one of the Dragon Islands without finding out the specific purpose.

"Whatever it is, it must be related to the return of the Dragon Race, and the sacrifices are likely all the Bone Dragons. Otherwise, they wouldn’t deploy their elites to attack the Dragon Tomb."

Amberser stood up and crushed the remains of the soul threads in his hand, saying very seriously, "These toads really aren’t afraid of dying. Gareth, do you still have the strength for one more battle?"

Gareth chuckled, the flaming long sword appearing again in his hand, saying confidently, "Those superficial wounds from before don’t count, I’ve recovered already. Come on, this time let’s wipe out all these toads!"

Aige also smiled at Amberser, saying, "I promised to show you my capabilities, but there hasn’t been a chance until now. This is the perfect time. I’ll take you to find those Githyanki, and also gather my subordinates; they haven’t moved their bones in a long time."

Amberser nodded. Although not everyone was gathered, half of the members of the Elegy Poetry Society were present.

Githyanki, you’re doomed!
