Chapter 1549: Chapter 1549: Where Has the Time Gone

During dinner, Luo Liansheng was in high spirits and drank quite a bit.

With so many people accompanying him, he was naturally in high spirits.

Elderly people also enjoy having beautiful women around them; it’s pleasing to the eyes.

Especially since every woman smiled at him, treating him like an emperor.

After drinking a lot, Luo Liansheng got a bit emotional and even started telling stories about Luo Ziling’s embarrassing childhood moments in front of several women. These were things only the grandfather and grandson knew, things even Ling Ruonan was unaware of.

Luo Liansheng shared these stories with the help of alcohol, and he told them vividly, captivating Ling Ruonan and the other women alike.

Luo Ziling felt so embarrassed by the exposure of his childhood embarrassments that he just wanted to escape.

However, Luo Yuqing wouldn’t let him run away, holding him firmly in place, and eventually, Luo Ziling ended up sulking for a long time under the laughter of the group of women.

After drinking a lot and coupled with the travel fatigue, Luo Liansheng went to take a bath and sleep after dinner.

In fact, by the time they finished dinner, it was already quite late, past nine o’clock.

Listening to Luo Liansheng recount Luo Ziling’s past antics was so engaging that the time slipped away unnoticed.

When Luo Liansheng stopped talking, they still seemed unsatisfied.

Ouyang Feifei left together with Luo Yuqing and Yang Qingyin; both Yang Qingyin and Luo Yuqing returned to school, and it was convenient to give a lift.

Luo Ziling accompanied Luo Liansheng to drink a lot and wanted to chat privately with him, so he didn’t see them off.

While Luo Liansheng was taking a bath, Luo Ziling and Ling Ruonan sat on the sofa, chatting alone.

"Ling’er, tomorrow morning, let’s go visit your Great Grandfather together. Your grandfather must have something to say to him. If nothing unexpected happens, your Great Grandfather will ask us to stay for lunch. If your Grandfather can’t join us, then we’ll go have dinner with him in the evening. Tomorrow or the day after, you should visit Old Sir Yang and Old Mr. Chen; the exact place to start will depend on your grandfather’s arrangement. We’ll visit the Fang Family for dinner last; the specific date can be decided later."

Listening to Ling Ruonan’s arrangement, Luo Ziling had no objections and agreed readily.

Ling Ruonan hesitated for a moment and then said, "Just now, hearing your grandfather tell so many stories about your childhood, it made me feel very emotional. Those years, your grandfather worked very hard; he had to play both the father and the mother roles, painstakingly raising you. I, as a mother, did nothing."

At this point, Ling Ruonan couldn’t help but get teary-eyed, but still forced a smile and said, "From now on, you must repay your grandfather well. You must never forget his kindness in raising you."

"Mom, I’ll remember," Luo Ziling also felt a bit sentimental from Ling Ruonan’s words.

He recalled the loneliness when his grandfather had to go out and leave him alone at home. His grandfather treated him very well, but he couldn’t fully replace his parents. His longing for his mother, his yearning for maternal love, had never ceased.

Because he never experienced his mother’s love, after growing up, he resented his mother for abandoning him.

Only after meeting Ling Ruonan face-to-face did these resentments fade, and after living together for so long, did he truly embrace this mother-son relationship.

Just now, seeing Luo Liansheng’s happiness while recounting childhood stories, and Ling Ruonan’s sadness before him, he couldn’t help but be touched.

Feeling a bit sour inside, an indescribable feeling.

Thankfully, Ling Ruonan didn’t dwell on the emotions further, and instead urged Luo Ziling to rest early. He drank a lot today and should sleep early to avoid not waking up tomorrow.

Originally, Luo Ziling wanted to have a good chat with Luo Liansheng, but after his grandfather bathed and went straight to sleep, he didn’t bother him.

After bathing and lying in bed, he saw a message from Yang Qingyin on his phone and immediately opened it to read.

"Listening to your grandfather talk about your childhood tonight made me feel you were quite happy."

"Even though it was just you and your grandfather, these twenty years of mutual dependency have made your relationship like that of father and son. In your grandfather’s eyes, you are the most important. His affectionate love when talking about you and looking at you deeply moved outsiders like us. You might have missed much by not growing up with your parents, but you’ve also gained a lot. Perhaps destiny can’t be judged as right or wrong, but every life has its own splendor."

"After hearing so much from your grandfather, I really want to visit Qingfeng Village at the foot of Tianshan and stay there for a while."

After reading the three messages from Yang Qingyin, Luo Ziling quickly replied, "We already planned to go in the summer break, and it is only a few months away. After I return from abroad, we can plan this trip."

He then sent another message, "You better not back out."

"I definitely won’t, just afraid you might not have time or not want to go then," Yang Qingyin quickly replied.

"How could that be?"

All he got in reply was a few eye-rolling emojis from Yang Qingyin.

But soon another message followed, "I drank quite a bit tonight, the rice wine is quite strong, I feel a bit dizzy, going to sleep now. I’ll find time soon to come over and chat with your grandfather, to hear about your childhood again."

"Always welcome!" Luo Ziling added a few kissing emojis after his message.

Yang Qingyin replied with two shy emojis and said goodnight.

Luo Yuqing also sent several messages, similar in meaning to those from Yang Qingyin, saying she was also interested in Qingfeng Village and Tianshan, and wanted to go there with Luo Ziling during the summer break. Luo Ziling replied, saying they would talk about it during the summer break; if he wanted to go back, he would take her.

However, Luo Yuqing did not reply, probably because she was taking a bath.

Seeing that Ouyang Feifei also sent him a message, Luo Ziling opened it.

"Do you still remember what happened during those two months in Qingfeng Village?"

Along with the message was a childhood photo of the two of them together.

It was when Luo Ziling was six or seven. Back then, Luo Ziling was small and sturdy, but already had handsome features.

Ouyang Feifei was a beauty from a young age, growing quite tall and pretty by eight or nine.

This photo was taken of them standing in front of the small house Luo Ziling lived in, talking. Luo Ziling had no idea such a photo existed and was pleasantly surprised, enlarging and shrinking it several times before finally saving it to his phone.

"Do you have more old photos? Send them all to me, I want to keep them safe." He requested from Ouyang Feifei.

Ouyang Feifei did not refuse and soon sent over several childhood photos. She also sent some solo photos of herself, as well as Luo Ziling’s single shots.

"Seeing childhood photos brings to mind a song title, ’Where Did the Time Go?’ We grew up quickly and will age just as fast. I want to revisit places we have been and retake photos in places rich with memories to see what time has left us."

Reading Ouyang Feifei’s message, Luo Ziling thought for a while before replying, "If you want to go, let’s go!"
