The Young Miss Refuse To Love -
Chapter 174: Reassurance
Chapter 174: Reassurance
Qi Jianyi stirred awake as she felt a tight grip around her waist that made it almost impossible to breathe normally. Still half-dreaming, her heart fluttered in confusion—until she realized it was Song Chengfeng. His arm draped over her, holding her tight even in sleep. The stuffiness of his embrace made her chest ache, but at the same time, it felt safe, familiar.
While Qi Jianyi hesitated between slipping out of Song Chengfeng’s embrace or staying where she was, the arm wrapped around her suddenly tightened, pulling her closer against him.
In the dark room, lit only by a sliver of moonlight, she couldn’t see his face clearly—but she could hear his heartbeat, rapid and loud, as if it might burst at any moment.
"You’re awake," she whispered softly, her left hand brushing gently across his chest.
Realizing he could no longer pretend to be asleep, Song Chengfeng lowered his chin to rest on her head and gave a quiet "hm."
"Then, get up," she urged, giving him a small push—but he refused to let go.
"Come on, let’s go downstairs and have dinner. We’ve been up here for hours. Grandpa will get upset if we don’t show up. Do you want him to throw you out?" Qi Jianyi teased, trying to coax him.
Since this afternoon, the two of them had been cooped up in the room—talking about everything and nothing. Somewhere along the way, they’d both drifted off to sleep without even realizing it.
"Jianyi." Song Chengfeng didn’t answer her words. Instead, he just whispered her name softly.
"Hm? What’s wrong?" Qi Jianyi raised her head to look at him—but the room was so dark she couldn’t see a thing.
"Jianyi," he repeated, ignoring her question, his voice low and almost pleading.
Tilting her head, Qi Jianyi replied patiently, "What’s wrong, my love?"
Song Chengfeng lowered his head, gaze fixed on her face. His eyesight was good enough to see even in the darkness, so of course he noticed the gentle smile she wore.
She couldn’t see what was going through his mind. He just kept calling her name again and again, leaving her puzzled.
"Are you okay?" Qi Jianyi shifted, lying flat on her stomach so she could reach out and gently touch his face.
"I love you." His sudden confession made her pause. Qi Jianyi’s eyes widened in surprise, but then they curved into a warm smile.
Pulling his head closer, she placed a soft kiss on his lips before whispering back.
"I love you too, Song Chengfeng."
How could Song Chengfeng be happy with just a quick peck? Heat rushed through him, fierce and impatient. In a heartbeat, he pressed her down, his body leaning over hers as he kissed her hard—deep and hungry, stealing her breath away.
At first, Song Chengfeng’s kiss was rough and demanding, making her heart race. But Qi Jianyi wasn’t going to let him take control so easily. Her hands gripped his shoulders, pulling him closer as she kissed him back with just as much fire. Their lips moved together, parting and meeting again, hot and eager.
Bit by bit, her stubborn warmth made him soften. His strong, forceful kiss turned slow and needy. His breath grew uneven, chest rising and falling against hers, until he finally gave in—letting her set the pace. And in that heated moment, she felt his surrender in the way his lips clung to hers, sweet and helpless under her touch.
After what seemed like eternity, they finally parted with a string of saliva between their lips. Qi Jianyi let out a satisfied laugh as she noticed his slightly swollen lips.
Noticing her naughty gaze, Song Chengfeng’s eyes showed a trace of helplessness. What could he do? He liked her so much that his whole body seemed to melt under her touch.
"Do you want to continue?" Qi Jianyi asked teasingly.
Her hands slid around his neck, and with gentle pressure, she pushed him down until he lay flat on his back, while she moved to straddle him. In just a moment, their positions had completely changed.
Song Chengfeng’s hands came to rest on her waist, steadying her. His eyes, usually so cold, now glowed with tenderness and desire. He nodded silently, letting her see his answer.
He didn’t even notice how tempting he looked in that moment—vulnerable and wanting. Sadly, Qi Jianyi couldn’t see him clearly in the darkness, and for a brief second, she regretted not turning on the light.
"Haha... let’s go downstairs and have dinner first, then I’ll kiss you as many times as you want." Qi Jianyi didn’t follow his request and instead changed the topic with a playful smile. Climbing off him, she reached for the lamp on the bedside table and turned it on.
Song Chengfeng, still lying there, stared at her—completely stunned by her sudden change. What a way to ruin the mood. She had just teased him, kissed him until his whole body burned... only to stop and act like nothing happened?
Pouting, he reached out and pulled Qi Jianyi back before she could get up.
"Be good," she coaxed gently, patting his arm. "Grandpa and the others will come knock on our door if we don’t go down soon." Although she wanted to stay too, Qi Jianyi knew that if they didn’t come out now, someone would definitely come upstairs looking for them.
"Don’t care," Song Chengfeng mumbled, burying his face against her chest like a sulking child.
"Young master Song—oh wait, you’re not that young anymore. Master Song, why are you being so childish?" Qi Jianyi teased softly, cupping his cheek and lifting his face so their eyes met.
"Kiss." Song Chengfeng refused to back down, acting like a stubborn child wanting candy. He didn’t even bother to save face—after all, the person in front of him was Qi Jianyi, the woman he loved most. What pride was there to keep from her?
Qi Jianyi was the only woman he ever wanted, the only one who deserved to see every side of him. She was also the only person Song Chengfeng was willing to open his heart to completely.
Shaking her head helplessly, she bent down and kissed his lips softly. It wasn’t deep like before. Just a brief, gentle peck.
"Not enough," he said quickly before she could pull away, his voice low with stubborn need.
Rolling her eyes at his childish demand, she lowered her head again and kissed him once more. This time, the kiss was deep, slow, and hot like a spark catching fire.
Her eyes stayed wide open, wanting to meet his gaze—to see him up close in this tender moment. But instead of looking back at her, Song Chengfeng closed his eyes, completely lost in the warmth of their kiss.
Qi Jianyi couldn’t help but laugh softly against his lips, and the sound made them part, breathless and smiling at each other in the warm light.
If someone saw them now, they’d really think Song Chengfeng was a shy teenager getting his first kiss stolen—while Qi Jianyi was the mischievous hooligan who took it.
"You act so cold in front of everyone..." Qi Jianyi couldn’t help but sneer at him, her words dripping with amusement.
In everyone else’s eyes, Song Chengfeng was probably the coldest man alive—a man without warmth or weakness, whose sharp gaze alone seemed enough to keep anyone from daring to speak to him.
But in front of her, he turned into something completely different: a clingy, stubborn puppy who refused to let his master out of his sight.
Qi Jianyi was having fun teasing him, and Song Chengfeng—utterly spineless when it came to her—had no intention of rebuking her words. It had taken him seven long years to finally get her back.
In those years, life felt empty, almost not worth living. He didn’t wish for death; he held on, waiting for her. But only he knew the weight of that waiting, the ache that never eased, the endless nights of longing that gnawed at him.
It was love. It was an obsession.
There was no denying it: Song Chengfeng was hopelessly in love with Qi Jianyi. He loved her deeply and was obsessed with her completely. But even in that obsession, he never tried to turn her into a possession—because he respected her wishes more than anything else.
He loved her, but couldn’t claim her.
He longed for her, but couldn’t go to her.
In time, he had forced himself to accept that she would never come back. But then, against all hope—she did.
Qi Jianyi came back for him. Even after seeing her with his own eyes, even after feeling her warmth beside him, Song Chengfeng still couldn’t fully silence the fear twisting inside his chest.
He was terrified. Terrified that all of this was just a beautiful dream. That the moment he opened his eyes, Qi Jianyi would vanish from his world once more.
So, without realizing it, he became even clingier. Every passing second made him crave reassurance. Only when Qi Jianyi kissed him again and again could he start to believe that this was real—that she was truly here, with him, and not just another memory he would wake from.
Fortunately, Qi Jianyi didn’t know his fear and insecurities. If she knew what weighed on his heart, she would surely blame herself.
However, although she couldn’t fully understand the reason behind his sudden clinginess, she didn’t feel annoyed by it at all.
Instead, she relented.
It didn’t matter whether Song Chengfeng changed from the cold, independent man everyone knew into someone needy and hopelessly attached to her. Qi Jianyi was more than willing to spoil him for eternity.
She was ready to care for him and love him for the rest of her life. So if what Song Chengfeng needed most was her reassurance, then Qi Jianyi would gladly give it to him—again and again—for as long as he needed it.
