Chapter 1015: Chapter 1015: Just Go Die Obediently
Becoming the Deputy Sect Master meant that he would be able to control more resources and have more ways to build up his cultivation.
Upon hearing this, Xiong Lin’s expression grew even darker.
The two had been in constant conflict within the Sect, harboring deep resentment towards each other.
If Zhang Shili were to become the Deputy Sect Master, he would surely find every means to suppress him, and Xiong Lin’s days within the Sect would definitely become difficult.
"Hmph, don’t get cocky. I’ve already invited the closed-door disciple of a high-level alchemist. I’ll soon complete the Sect Master’s task," Xiong Lin retorted, unwilling to concede defeat verbally, and gave Ning Fan a knowing look.
Ning Fan immediately understood and smiled, "I am Xu Fan, and I pay my respects to Elder Zhang."
"Xu Fan?" Zhang Shili sized up Ning Fan with a hint of confusion in his eyes, "There aren’t many who can be called high-level alchemists. Which family did you study under?"
Before Ning Fan could answer, Zhang Shili stepped forward with a surge of powerful energy erupting violently.
He actually intended to attack Ning Fan right in front of Xiong Lin!
"Damnation! What do you think you’re doing?!"
Xiong Lin burst into rage, not expecting Zhang Shili to be so bold.
Xiong Lin wanted to help, but Zhang Shili was too fast. Just as he unleashed his Spiritual Power, Zhang Shili had already reached Ning Fan.
"Boy, just die quietly!"
Zhang Shili’s face was fierce, with Spiritual Power gushing from his palm, and his formidable presence surged out like a roaring gale.
Even Xiong Lin wasn’t confident he could block it at this distance.
"Bang!"
A muffled sound resonated, instantly kicking up dust that obscured everyone’s vision.
"Zhang Shili, you scoundrel! I will surely report this to the Sect Master!"
Xiong Lin’s angry voice echoed through the dust, followed by an outburst of robust Spiritual Power.
The sweeping wind blew away the surrounding dust, revealing Xiong Lin’s face full of anger.
He couldn’t believe that Zhang Shili would be so audacious, trying to kill the person he had sought for the Sect Master’s task just to prevent him from completing it.
If this Xu Fan truly died, apologizing to the Feiyu Sect would be one thing, but the pathway he had finally found which could potentially heal the Sect Master’s daughter would also be completely severed.
However, as the dust settled, the scene before him was unexpected.
Zhang Shili stood before Ning Fan, his fist only three inches from Ning Fan’s face.
The one blocking the fist was Ning Fan’s right palm, held in front of him.
"Elder Zhang, even if you intend to test the younger generation’s abilities, surely this is too much?" Ning Fan spoke with a faint smile, seemingly unaffected by the punch.
Hearing this, Zhang Shili’s brows furrowed tightly, looking at Ning Fan with astonishment.
"You— you’ve got some skills, kid. It seems your so-called alchemist master gave you quite a few benefits, didn’t he?"
He didn’t believe that Ning Fan had blocked the attack with his own strength, but rather that Ning Fan had some kind of defensive Magic Artifact on him.
This kid’s cultivation at best was Mid Foundation Establishment; how could he have so easily blocked a punch from someone at the Late Foundation Establishment Stage like himself?
The sneak attack having failed and with Xiong Lin now on guard, Zhang Shili chose not to continue his assault.
With a sneer, he turned and walked back towards the Sect.
"Xiong Lin, you’d better hope that the closed-door disciple you brought has some truly incredible abilities."
Watching Zhang Shili’s retreating back, Xiong Lin’s expression was also gloomy and uncertain.
After a while, he managed to calm down and turned to Ning Fan with a cupped-fist salute, "My apologies, Young Master Xu. I didn’t explain the situation within the Sect properly before, which led to this incident."
Ning Fan didn’t mind and waved it off, "It’s fine. But what exactly is the condition of the Sect Master’s daughter?"
"Ah, it’s a long story. Let’s walk and talk," Xiong Lin suggested.
On the road into the Sect, Xiong Lin told Ning Fan the whole story.
It turned out that the Sect Master’s daughter had been suffering from a soul-dispersing condition for several years now.
Logically, in a place teeming with talent like Kunlun, such a minor illness should have been easy to cure.
But for some reason, no matter what methods they tried, the soul-dispersing condition of the Sect Master’s daughter never improved and instead got worse and worse.
Now, she was conscious for less than three hours each day.
After these three hours, the Sect Master’s daughter would fall into a coma and could not be awakened by any means.
According to the top physician in Kunlun, if the condition continued to worsen, it was very likely she would fall into a permanent coma.
At that point, the Sect Master’s daughter would be no different from a living dead person.
Naturally, the Sect Master of the Fuguang Sect couldn’t accept seeing his daughter in that state and immediately mobilized the entire Sect to find a cure for soul-dispersing in Kunlun.
Even this auction event had been set up in the hopes of finding something that could treat the Sect Master’s daughter.
After all, opportunities to gather the talented individuals of the various Sects were rare. Each auction attracted not only young talents but also their protectors.
Perhaps they could find a cure for the Sect Master’s daughter among them.
"So that’s it. No wonder this auction was scheduled earlier," Ning Fan realized.
